Poll: What do you like most?
I love a great many things about this game. The costumes, story, villain groups, etc. being some of them. Right now, however, it's the PvP that makes me excited to play. I still run the content and I still read all the text that comes with missions, trials, and new contacts, but PvP has really captured me (Arena especially) in the last year.

I would've chosen storyline...but it'd be my own characters' storylines...the ones going through my head and amongst the people I play with that are constantly overwriting what's happening in-game. There are too many incidences of the game trying to godmode my character: telling me what I'm supposedly thinking, feeling, and worst of all, saying. It breaks immersion horribly when the game tries to guess what my characters' reactions to a situation will be.
If that were fixed, then, yes, I'd really enjoy the storylines...I could accept them a lot better. As it is I went with the costumes...they're awesometasticriffic!
It's not fair that I be asked to choose only one thing. Because it's really a combination of factors that keep me coming back to CoX. Costume, Storyline, Graphics and so on. But if forced to abide to only the choices given, then I must say 'Costumes.'

I would have loved to be able to choose bases. However, in their current incarnation, with the year-long unaddressed problems with costs, they still provide aggravation along with their benefits. If they significantly reduced costs (of placing items and of rent), bases might be #1 for me. But given how things are now, I went with costumes.
Wow! Surprised the choice of "Powers" is not listed there. I mean that seems to be a core aspect of CoX.

Interesting how 10% (atm) put PvP and yet IMO that part of the game gets more than 10% of the focus.
[/ QUOTE ]
Most PvPers would disagree with you. Strongly. If PvP is such a focus, why do arena bugs (stuff from issue 4!) still exist? Also, you've missed the many threads that extol the purported fact that PvPers compose an extreme minority in this game - 1% or 2% max, and hence isn't worth any attention at all. Poll isn't done yet and I won't say that the poll is absolutely representative of the player base, but I think you can assume there's more than 1 or 2% interest in PvP.
Further, I don't like badges, but I'm not going to use the fact that it only gets 6% (atm) of the vote to say that it doesn't deserve dev time. That's a specious argument at best.

I didn't say that PvP get's the majority of the focus, just more than 10%. And although you might enjoy PvP, if you didn't select it as your choice then it's not why you are here is it? And yes PvP does get more than 10% of the focus but I personally think that's because PvP is so hard to balance expecially when as in CoX, you don't have the same AT (classes) on both sides and there is a lot of variation with those ATs (classes).
I chose costumes but it was a tough choice. There are several bad guys I really like, Vahz, Freaks and Carnies to name a few. I do enjoy the story arcs as well. I currently have a 36 Energy/Devices blaster that I am taking through all the content of the game. But I ended up choosing costumes because that was the one thing I really hated about other games. I HAD tried a few other games like WOW, Dungeon and Dragons and EQ2 and keep coming back here and one of the main reasons is because I really enjoy making a unique toon and all the variety that we have on COX.
There are lots of other reasons my husband and I keep coming back to COX. The game is just plain fun and you can log in anytime and play any amount of time, the game is very solo friendly. The fighting and gameplay is extremely better than the other games. I also don't like how other games use Skills, Abilities and that other Roleplaying stuff that I don't have a clue about. I am sure it would take no time at all for me to learn about it..but it just doesn't interest me. Choosing powers and enhancements in this game is easy to do and I just like it much better.
There are also alot of fantasy games out there. I am a huge fan of fantasy books and movies but I find the Hero game to be much more interesting.
I do prefer COH over COV because I find COV to be a bit dark. All the zones are so drab and dreary. I know it fits with COV but I prefer the look of COH much better. Though my 28 Fire/Thermal corrupter is one of my favorite toons to play. Empathy and Blasting are my two favorite sets. The mayhem missions are also great fun.
I don't play PVP not really interested in it. I like the bases but only because it makes it easier to transport around. I haven't tried any of the new stuff that goes with the bases because I don't want to take the time to read and research how all that stuff works.
I like badges..it's an interesting and fun thing to do with the game.
Thanks to everyone for doing such an absolutely great job with this game.
Well, I do enjoy Costumes. I think the Costume Creator is hands down the best engine out there for creating custom characters. While it is awesome, it doesn't affect my gameplay, and thus if it were to go away, I'd still have about the same amount of fun.
The storyline is good, overall. I think it has started to become stagnant since I3 and really needs to get back on track. There are a few Story Arc that I really enjoy, but are counterweighted by less interesting Arcs. Since the story cannot change, any text could come across the screen, and I would still enjoy the game.
PvP is a decent time sink, but really is so poorly balanced that its just something to do to kill time. It adds nothing to the game, IMO, but I'm glad it exists.
Badges are another time sink. Similar to PvP, it adds nothing to the game. As a matter of fact, I'd say that many of the Badges actually take away from the game, distract the player, and disrupt many zones. They are a good concept, but need an overhaul in implementation.
Bases are pretty awesome. I enjoy carving out a space for my characters to call a home. I use it to stash up Salvage and assist in getting Enhancements for lower level characters, so I can keep them in SG mode longer to help expand my base. I think States knows that they are great, but under used. I personally have my own SG base for all of my own characters, and I suspect many other people do the same. It has some hefty issues with it, but I'm sure they'll get ironed out over time.
After all that is said, I put my vote on Specific Mobs. Though, I have to pick more than one; three and a half to be exact. First is the Malta Group (+Knives). I like just about everything the Malta have to offer, and have even made suggestions in expanding their arsenal. Second is the Rularuu, who are probably the best designed villain group the game has to offer as they level the field for everybody, and offer a variety enemies (many different model types). Third is the Reflections. I have sent a few PMs trying to get more info on these guys, but sadly I don't think there is any. They are just there. They take a little bit of everything the game has to offer a mishmash. Third and a half are the Carnies. I really like the Lts and Bosses, but feel the Minions are fairly weak.
Why did I choose Villain Factions? Because CoH is a combat game. Everything revolves around combat. If you aren't in combat, you aren't playing the game (sadly). I enjoy these Villain factions because they offer the challenging and varying combat that I enjoy. Everything else in the list is fluff that adds nothing to the actual gameplay.

Base team: NO SOUP FOR YOU!
Based on the options give, it looks like they're really asking, what would you like for us to focus on more in upcoming issues. I say that because the Combat System is not an option, even though it's the most widely used feature of the game.
I also see that New Powersets are not in there, because I'm sure just about everybody would chosen those. I think that's a no brainer for Devs. They know that almost nobody would say no to more powersets.
I chose Costumes, but really, I think it should be expanded more to character customization. Be it costume, powers, origin, animation presets (coming with the new fly poses sometime in the future). As well as possible other features we may 1 day get like facial expressions, voices, etc.
I chose "storyline" because we could always use more.
Since everybody is listing their favorite aspect of COx, I'll say that mine is definitely Powersets.
The following combo : powersets-costumes-sidekicking-story arcs is what makes COx the best and most different mmo out there.

# 292389: From Tartarus with love...
# 459592: Interdimensional Headache
Out of that list, I chose Costumes.
I almost selected Storylines, because while they are high quality, the uniqueness of them fade sharply when you feel accomplished at saving a character's life and then you walk down the street and five people did the exact same thing. It makes everything seem like a moot point.
Content from here on really needs to veer away from being static and move towards becoming dynamic for me to really pick storylines, or even to really continue playing the game.
I want a rogue's gallery. I want people to come to -me- for help. I want to do what heroes do in the comics.
If they are taking this poll because they want to know what to focus on more than I would change my vote from Costumes to Story Line. There are so many costume pieces right now that I am completely happy with all the choices and it will keep me busy for some time. New stories and content would be much appreciated. Maybe a new Task Force.
What about having an option for all the different power combinations? Us Altoholics need representation!

I think the survey is flawed. PvE should have been an option. the closest answer to it would be specific mobs. Man i hate that term "mobs" and why are highest two choices over 200 percent? what kind of percentage breakdown is that?
[/ QUOTE ]
They're not over 100%.
See Costumes? Right now, it reads "704 39%". That's not "70,439%" ... that's "704 votes, comprising 39% of the total responses so far".
Among the choices, I like the costumes feature the best because it gives so much variety (although I could always use more). A close second is mob groups, but that sentiment really goes to archvillains and giant monsters, not your everyday mobs.
In last place would be badges. I probably wouldn't care of badges weren't in the game at all if they didn't grant accolade powers, which I think are cool.
Personally, the story line has rarely been very interesting to me, and it rarely affects how you actually play the game. Reading the story line is like reading a book, not like playing a video game. More "cut scenes," preferably those that just happen on the screen (I guess technically then they would not be "cut" scenes) with a villain monologuing at you would be great.

Epic, yeah... and my characters are all bit players in the story of Statesman and his über buddies that will always be better than me and my teammates no matter how much I grind away.

See, I'm the opposite. Even as an old-school comics nerd who loved story-driven games like Fallout, I am barely conscious of the fact this game has storylines because of the way they're not integrated into the game. It is amazingly possible to go from 1 to 50 and have no idea at all what the major storylines of the game are.

#1 Issue right here.
#2 PvP competition implimentation.
As for what I like?
I like the combat, which doesn't seem to be a choice so I guess I won't vote.

Only one... you honestly want me to only pick one??? Well for me I think the most intriguing aspect, and the one that keeps me meticulously reading clues, notes, souveniers, plaques, Paragon Times, etc etc, is the massive arcs and overall story. Learning the horrible secret behind the Lost Mutations, Discovering the workings of the Internal Rikti Politics, Putting together the Pedestrian clues that Suggest Council ties to Arachnos, and then Jumping off into the Multiverse where new threats move against paragon every day. The story is such an engrossing element!
However, I also have to say that the Costumes are a huge pull. I have spent... well at this point probably DAYS creating costumes for myself and others. Themed, wierd, color coordinated... So much to do, so few costume slots, so few charachter slots. . . yeah I know there's a lot of both but it's still not enough

Costumes are fun and the variety is great - seeing a great new one adds to the fun immeasurably.
The villian groups are also (mostly) great, but most important as part of the storyline.
Badges are a nice addition for 'collectors.'
Bases are... interesting. Too expensive for someone who wants to SG with a small group of friends to do very much with, but the small amount we have managed has been fun, in a creative/frustrating kind of way.
PvP is handled pretty well (i.e. it doesn't interfere with the fun of the game, and on the rare occasions when I feel like having some, it's not hard to manage).
I chose the storyline for lack of a better choice, because many of the best moments in the game for me have been storyline based - things like surprise attacks and appearances, temp powers, stand out missions with new graphics or villian behavior.
My real favorite thing touches on that, isn't on the list, and is hard to define : "superhero feel" - the range of powers, the great costumes and origins I've seen, the last minute saves... it's close to storyline, but depends more on the abilities of the classes and creativity of the players.
