  1. Alot of this seems to be interpretation of what people say.

When someone comes on and says things like, be realistic or nothing is going to happen no matter how many letters you send in...it ends up being interpreted that the people who are holding out for hope and are sending in letters and doing things are idiots and just wasting their time. Even though the person never actually said "You are wasting your time." It is interpreted that way.

Also, people who come on and are all full of energy and hope and are actively doing all sorts of things to save COH can come across rather annoying and condescending. Even without saying direct words it can just come across this way sometimes. Make people feel something is wrong with them for not speaking more positively and sending in capes and letters.

I guess everyone just needs to give people a little grace.
  2. I don't know... I may just not even play MMO's. COH was the first MMO I have played and I have only dabbled in a few others and didn't really like them.

I just don't like the idea of spending money and playing a game and than "poof" it's all gone and all the time and money you spent is gone. Atleast with consoles and PC games you can keep them and replay them. I suppose some console and PC games go out and you can't play them again because the technology has been upgraded but the game has not.

One thing I like about MMO's as opposed to a console or PC game is the depth and "ongoingness" of it.

If COH does go down than I may go to WOW. Just for the fact that it feels "safer." I know realistically it probably isn't but it just feels that way. I know WOW has lost subscribers but they have around 9 million people and so I can't imagine logging in one day and being surprised and completely taken off guard by a message that says the game is done!
  3. I must admit that I like the idea of buying a game and not having to pay the monthly fee and also not being nerfed by F2P. The F2P option for most games are not very good.

In some ways I would like to see GW2 be successful because in general I would like to see MMO's go in this direction.

This is quite unfair. Atlantea came out and said some very judgmental and harsh things to everyone. Yes, apology is accepted but you can't expect people to just turn off and not be wounded and annoyed at her words.

Also it doesn't make much sense to get upset for someone laying into another person when you are doing the very same thing. You are calling into question Leo's character and calling us an "unforgiving peanut gallery" Not understanding why it's okay for you to talk that way but not others?

Giving apologies is important and accepting them is even more so. But you can't take back the damage that words can do it takes time to heal from them and trust has to be earned back.

As far as GW2 is concerned....GW2 is not just NCsoft. Like I mentioned before GW2 has people just like those from Paragon Studios making it, creating it and enjoying their work. They have their own Positron and War Witch. NCsoft is just the money machine not the developing team. When I heard Andy speak on his last show he made it sound like everyone had friends from other games, he had friends from Cryptic. Andy mentioned the job fairs that were being held for Paragon Studios, so if you boycott games you end up boycotting some of those individual people because they all end up being friends and knowing each other in the industry.

Besides if some people from Paragon Studios got a job that paid really well working for GW2 or some other NCsoft game would we deny them that and make them feel like backstabbers?
  5. Yes, one has the freedom to do many things but you also have to accept the consequences and to post going to GW2 on these boards is going to have consequences.

One thing to remember about GW2 is that the developing team is not NCsoft, they are people just like from Paragon Studios. People who love to create and make games. NCsoft is just the money machine making it happen.

It is a very good reason to not give money to NCsoft because they are not trustworthy in my opinion.
  6. I think people should be able to express themselves freely about this whole situation. But the keyword is "themselves." No one should be ranting about how someone else is feeling or reacting to this situation. Telling someone their action is useless or telling someone because they are not taking action they are useless, or telling people to just stop whining. Just let people be folks!! Let everyone work through this the best they know how.

For me personally, I am exhausted and patience is wearing thin about this. I sent a letter, my son sent a letter, I went to the rally, I spoke out on several message boards and online communities, I will attend the task force this coming week, but to be honest it is getting harder and harder to play and have fun with the game. On one hand it doesn't make sense....it would make more sense for me to just enjoy the last few months but for some reasons it's just not working out that way. In some ways I want to move on... I want COH to either be done so I can move on or for it to continue. Being in this hiatus is very hard. I applaud all of those who have more endurance than I... all the people at Titan Network and other communities that are working hard. I do agree that even if we don't get COH back their is an important message to tell these game companies to treat us with more respect as customers!!

I think the original op of this thread makes a very good point. People who have paid for several months deserve some sort information about how it is going to be rectified. It is indeed very poor customer service that NCsoft has not come out to say anything. I encourage people to deny the charges through their bank or credit card company. That would be a good message to send.

As for negotiations I am quite doubtful much is going on. I think all the Devs and Paragon employees are looking for other work and I don't blame them. We haven't heard much of anything and I don't think it's because negotiations are going on I think it's because nothing is going on. I think someone important needs to come out and say something very soon.

ETA: I think I am going to watch a Harry Potter movie now, atleast my HP movies and books can't be taken from me!
  7. Your not soulless it's just been hit with the nerf bat.

That %&#* nerf bat! It's out to get us all!

Be good to your mother....even if she has weird ideas.

Thank You for your time served, hope we see you more.
  8. This has been some very helpful information thank you for putting it together.

I homeschool my children and today for a writing assignment my 10 year old son is going to write a letter to NCsoft. I will be writing one as well and we will mail them certified this afternoon.
  9. I would be sad to see my some of my characters go, especially the ones I have had for 7 years. But, I am more sad to see the game go and never have a chance to play some of the new content and revisit some of my favorite older content. So, re-rolling new toons would not be a problem for me. City of Heroes has become such a huge game in terms of content that makes the replay ability really good in my opinion because the older stuff is fun to revisit because you haven't done it for so long. There are soooooo many things to do.

To be honest I have a bit more fun in the middle levels anyway because toons are not so over powered. Some times when I go on mishes with my 50 and join a group of other 50's everyone feels so over powered because they are decked out with all sorts of hot rod stuff.
  10. It is so hard when things end but what would it have been like if the journey never started? This is what I say to remind myself of times like this and though I am not a huge country fan I love the song "The Dance" by Garth Brooks because it talks about this very thing.

Thanks for such an incredible journey!!

    To all of you...

Hugs to you and my prayers go out to you on your next endeavor. May you make that place as special as you did here!!
  12. Thank you for making such a family friendly game, my husband and my sons and I have enjoyed playing together and that is a really, really big deal to me!!

Thank you for making such a positive game that is a huge bright light in world of very dark and depressing MMO's and video games.

Thank you for Trick or Treating!! I was lamenting to my husband yesterday about " What other game let's you knock on doors and go trick or treating!!"

Thank you for a fabulous adventure!

    Thank you for the fun.

    Thank you for your heart.

    Thank you for the memories.
  13. The changes sound incredible! Can't wait!

I love the story that goes along with it.

Thanks so much for all your hard work!
  14. If they are taking this poll because they want to know what to focus on more than I would change my vote from Costumes to Story Line. There are so many costume pieces right now that I am completely happy with all the choices and it will keep me busy for some time. New stories and content would be much appreciated. Maybe a new Task Force.
  15. I chose costumes but it was a tough choice. There are several bad guys I really like, Vahz, Freaks and Carnies to name a few. I do enjoy the story arcs as well. I currently have a 36 Energy/Devices blaster that I am taking through all the content of the game. But I ended up choosing costumes because that was the one thing I really hated about other games. I HAD tried a few other games like WOW, Dungeon and Dragons and EQ2 and keep coming back here and one of the main reasons is because I really enjoy making a unique toon and all the variety that we have on COX.

There are lots of other reasons my husband and I keep coming back to COX. The game is just plain fun and you can log in anytime and play any amount of time, the game is very solo friendly. The fighting and gameplay is extremely better than the other games. I also don't like how other games use Skills, Abilities and that other Roleplaying stuff that I don't have a clue about. I am sure it would take no time at all for me to learn about it..but it just doesn't interest me. Choosing powers and enhancements in this game is easy to do and I just like it much better.

There are also alot of fantasy games out there. I am a huge fan of fantasy books and movies but I find the Hero game to be much more interesting.

I do prefer COH over COV because I find COV to be a bit dark. All the zones are so drab and dreary. I know it fits with COV but I prefer the look of COH much better. Though my 28 Fire/Thermal corrupter is one of my favorite toons to play. Empathy and Blasting are my two favorite sets. The mayhem missions are also great fun.

I don't play PVP not really interested in it. I like the bases but only because it makes it easier to transport around. I haven't tried any of the new stuff that goes with the bases because I don't want to take the time to read and research how all that stuff works.

I like badges..it's an interesting and fun thing to do with the game.

Thanks to everyone for doing such an absolutely great job with this game.
  16. I happen to like defiance, I don't see why people are making such a fuss about it. If you don't use it....than so what!!

I was able to solo over half a mission on low health, just using defiance. I was having a great time!!!

When playing in a group it's not something that is used ALL the time in EVERY fight. I don't use all my blaster powers ALL the time. Many of my secondary powers are situational. Defiance is situational in team play. However, you can learn to use it more if you have a good team. I find it very challenging and fun to use defiance in solo and team play. It adds a little extra to an already really fun AT.

If your playstyle doesn't work with defiance, than that's just how it is, no sense in complaining about defiance. Saying things like just get rid of it!

    I mean...PLEASE...whatever you do....DON"T change your playstyle.....EVER...!!!
