Why Moment of Glory sucks!

I'd like MoG more if Revive had, say, five seconds of intangibility associated with it. That way, you could blow MoG, do something glorious--and, of course, get defeated--then Revive yourself and spirit away to lick your wounds. This is in contrast to Reviving in the midst of a mass of enemies (since Scrappers fight in melee) and getting immediately re-defeated.

I think I'll retake MoG in my next respec, just to either relive the frustration or give other folks free kills in zone PvP.

So does anyone think with the addition of invention set bonuses that MOG is a better choice these days than in the past. I know with my planned build I will end up with somewhere around 10-15% psi defense and around 30% psi resist. I can't recall the exact amount of toxic resist but but it was pretty high as well.

I've never used MOG so just wondering how big of a diff this would make.

You dont need yellows to hit through MoG just need tactics and FA, maybe build up if your not sloted for to hit buffs.

If anything pop geas and you hit through it and im sorry moggers but one crit and your dead.

Also nem units eat mog up cause of the stacked vengeance they're able to get I've seen it time and time again piss poor damage constantly getting through still means your dead its not negligable. If you want a better mog like experience hit Eye of the magus and go to town if your still in trouble pop one def and watch everyone go *swish swish swish*

you can get better powers and put the slots needed to make mog decent into something else for more versatility or better set bonuses

Only used MoG in PvE, but I use it constantly.

I solo levels on the hardest rank and there's usually an ending boss who is red or purple to me. I've got 3 mega powers to fight those bosses on my Stalker: Demonic, Instant Healing, MoG.

Demonic has a 30 minute recharge and is also weak to Psionic like MoG. Instant Healing even 6 slotted often cannot keep up with multiple high-end baddies. MoG I can and have soloed arch-bosses.

I have it 6 slotted with Defense and Damage Resist mostly. A BIG help is that I also have about +15% health from Accolades and Enhancement Sets. That's +15% more health after MoG, which is pretty damn substantial.

I think it's a fun power. It's a big gamble. I've won fights with .9 health left. Only thing I really hate is as an energy stalker I can't use Energy Transfer with it, which is one of my best attacks. But it's awful funny to be standing in front of a few bosses and have the luxury of going into hide AS they are trying to attack me. Getting off 6 Assassin strikes against the same guy...

MoG provides 71.25% Resistance to all but Psi. Adding more than one resistance enhancer takes you well over the Scrapper/Stalker cap of 75%.

Likewise MoG has a defense of 71.25% which reduces the to-hit of all mobs up to +5s to the cap of 5% without additional slotting.

Usually, just sticking with the base slot is fine for MoG.

Yah but you can use the invention bonuses. Unless you bump out other def/resist powers, which I don't have.

True but in general the heal sets are better than the resist/def sets so you're better off using precious slots on your regen powers.

Duke, you're pretty much blowing 4-5 slots if you're 6-slotting MoG for 3 Resists and 3 Defenses. With a base value of 71.25% resistance, the hit point drop (to 25%) versus resistance gain isn't a complete wash unless you put in the eqivalent of 1 TO (to put you at 75% resistance), therefore, all 3 resist slots are not a waste, but 2 of those slots, much like any slots you use for defense, are being wasted save in the presence of enemies that greatly lower resistance and/or defense.

The one good thing about MoG is that it is essentially a stand-alone power that is almost as strong as it is going to get (or needs to be) on its base slot.

Agreed. It's the one reason, I still keep the power despite being it's biggest detractor. I don't have to do anything other than slot my one membrane in it and it's about as good as it's going to get. Especially since Resilience and my IO bonuses close the resistance gap to all but Energy.

Im chimming in on this late in the game and only skimming through the posts, but I wanted to throw in my 2 cents.

Having a Claw/Regen at lvl 50 myself, I tried using MoG in the beginning and sadly it sucked then and it still sucks now. Im not saying this as "OMG!! MoG sucks. I got pwned!", but the power is flawed.

Mainly MoG was designed when COH was released. Since then there has been several mobs added into the game that adds Psy powers that just by-pass through MoG.

Forget playing in the Shard or against Arachnos or even new Rikti priests. Poping MoG around these mobs is instant death. You drop to 10-25% health, +def against everything but Psy, but you cant heal at all from any source till the power drops.

It would almost be better if it just gave us the bonus w/o the HP drop till the end of the power then have it drop to 10-25% health.

I dont believe it needs a major rework, just a few tweaks. I would be interested to see out of all the /regens in the game, how many actualy have that power choosen? Maybe that is something they can datamine.

Its just a insta-death power in the 40+ game.

I actually found one useful situation for MoG, or at least a situation where I suck badly enough to pretty much want to have it on all the time.

During open test for I10 (I haven't gotten around to checking live I10 on my MA/regen yet) I fought Vanguard in missions in the Rikti War Zone. And they kicked me hard. Seriously, three white minions had me dead on the floor. Not once, but repeatedly.

Out of desperation because nothing was working and I was sick of running back and forth, I popped MoG. And I had no more problems with the Vanguard.

Possibly this means I should be teamed - as a fairly dedicated soloist that's always a possibility. Possibly this means I just suck. Either way, I was still really, really glad I picked MoG up despite everything that does indeed suck about it.

(Note: I never used it before then, and I doubt I'll start using it outside of dealing with Vanguard flunkies.)

So let me guess, three white minions and they...

Hit 99% of the time, if not more (mob superior Accuracy)
Hit for a relatively high amount of damage (mob superior Damage)
Attack rate was significantly faster than you (mob superior Recharge)

While you...

Hit about 80% of the time, if not less (ED, mob superior Defense and the game has a terrilbe random % generator)
Hit for less than normal (ED, mob superior Resistances)
You didn't do whole number damage (mobs take rounded down damage and if they sit at 1.0 health they just round up to 5.0 health). Oh, incidentally mobs do whole number damage if not rounded up damage to players. Mobs also regenerate and recover at an extremely high rate.

Yeah, that's about a typical, pathetic fight in the game now. I would love to hear other people's opinions on this matter. In fact, I'm dying to know what y'all think.

then what power should you get at level 38?

Vanguard seem to chew up all melee ATs with stacking -def and -res attacks. MoG probably gives you such a high amount of both that the debuffs aren't making a dent.

Posted

this may be ture of def,and could be true of resist if sloted, then again even sloted the resistance is still just breaking even with the health loss.all sloting resistance could do to benifit you is keep your self from having the resist debuff make the power screw you over instead of just doing nothing to help you.

Its the defense. Vanguard spam -resist as part of their melee attacks, switching from regen to defense means you don't get hit and debuffed to high hell. Now if only Vanguard were in more than one arc MoG might actually have a real purpose...

MoG is a fantastic power, even the way it is now. Despite limitations as described above, if you have any trouble with PvE as a regen then the problem is with you and your tactics, not the powerset.

But, I will give you credit for finally omitting the false claim that MoG goes against the regen set.

I find arguments like this as disturbing as folks who think "Illegal" aliens should be allowed to obtain "legal" drivers licenses. I do not see the logic in it. MoG is to Regen as Hair is to a Lizard.

It is a twist, a reverse, I can think of no other set in CoX that offers such a situation so as to totally throw your toon into a complete opposite. Whoever thought this up must have been gifted with wry humor, on drugs, or was asked to design a power in a complete vacuum.

MoG lasts too long since I4. If it ever offered PSI protection, I do not know... that has been an argument for as long as I recall, however, it was made clear a few issues ago that it did not. All I know is that it is very situational, a pain in the neck for teams, and cannot help but cause folks to grimace as they click it.

I have re-selected it for 2 reasons. One is to add I/Os for regeration. The second is... I cannot think of one. Too many villains late game use Psionics. That means I use it very very little. Other tier 9 powers have more function than this.

Sometime before i4 MoG was +Def(All), IIRC. If I really need the LotG unique that much, I can dive into Maneuvers or the first power in the steath pool.

Fire tank's Burn is similar. The mobs run when you activate it instead of being taunted by gauntlet. Burn is anti- tanking like MoG is anti-regen.
