  1. I just started up again recently, was hoping to run into some old chums. I am heartbroken by this news.

    Thanks Infinity

I just started up again, so I am most bummed out by the news. I was hoping to run into some old friends.
  3. This is what I posted on Facebook, I hope that is not cheating.

Ray Bradbury has died. I have only read two of his books( Something wicked this way comes, and Fahrenheit 451), but I have to say that Fahrenheit 451 was a book of true thought provoking literature. Prior to reading it I thought of censorship as the thing tyrants did. It introduced me to the concept of censorship as a potential oligarchical danger. The tyranny of the many should always be a danger as guarded against as the tyranny of a few. Popularity and anti-intellectualism can be as dangerous to free speech as any tyrant. though I have to admit that I have neglected much of his work, Ray Bradbury expanded my mind, and for that I will be thankfull till I think my last thought.
  4. It seems to me that if you had warning that your child had a genetic defect that was likely to force psychopathic or sociopathic behavior upon them and you did nothing, well that would be extreme negligence to the well being of your child(and humanity at large really).

To knowingly leave a child so cut of from humanity seems a fundamental betrayal of parental responsibility.

Mind you the initial question seems to ignore a great deal about how environment affects psychological development. I do not think there will ever be a magic bullet for all forms of personality dysfunction at the level of the genes.

I think all meanings of snuff are supposed to be relevant to the story.
  7. Has been released today. I hope everyone else is enjoying their copy, mine is still in the mail.

Also today is F Paul Wilson's last Repairman Jack book The Dark at the End.
  8. I think this represents our only direct interaction

well my comment was more me ******** about people that complain about posters and their posts, when the really easy solution is simply to not read them.i do not think it really said anything positive about you to tell the truth...

...which is why i wanted to say something positive about you.

i myself only read a few forums.the internet is a big place(well not exactly true in a literal sense, but i think you know what i mean),and a person can miss a lot of stuff.and i do.

you have brought a lot of things to my attention that i would have otherwise missed.i for one find that useful, and am thankful that you do so.

i think that you operate out of a spirit of generosity, and that you share with others things that you yourself like to know.this has been of benefit to me(and others i am sure, but i can only speak for myself) and i hope you continue to do so.

while there are any number of things that i am sure we do not agree on,i have never found you to be anything other then a positive presence on these forums.

so in a world where harsh words can flow with disturbing ease on the internet, and sometimes echo in our heads a bit longer then they should.i hope these kind ones find you well

    your chum Nemo/Alex

"Well I thank you very much. On an internet which is normally VERY negative and people indulge in their anonymity with a license to be mean it's rare to find someone who has a good heart. Thanks again and God bless you my friend."

While I do not in fact have all that good of a heart(and could have done without him getting some god blessing on me), I think he was a stand up guy and I am sorry to hear of his passing.

I really have to wonder about a couple things here.

Could really be economically viable? How much ore could they extract in a limited time? And at how much of a cost?

I can see the potential value to those already in space making effective use of the materials at hand. But I am straining to see how the mineral wealth could be extracted in a manner that would be useful even if the risks can be managed.

Would they be blasting a chunk of for use with space based projects? Could they do that without sending it out of/into orbit.

Sounds more like a scientist was spit-balling ideas.
  10. I guess another thing that Flashpoint #5 glossed over is that when Barry came to in the new DCU, he was single(and in a relationship with someone other then his former/never wife).
  11. If the synopsis I have read are accurate, then Superboy punch... Er,Speed-force smack for the lose.

Every explanation for the alternate timeline and the reboot sound like a horribly incompetent rational.
  12. Considering that Barry would be restoring the original timeline where his mother lived, and considering that the original change that Zoom made seemed to have no effect on anyone other then Barry, It is pretty hard to see any of this as some sort of law of unintended consequences resulting from changing history.
  13. So far the only the only final issue I have acquired is Secret Six,and it was disappointing to say the least.

I really was enjoying that comic. And I see no reason to believe that the Suicide Squad will be a worthy substitute.

If they were the one and only Corps and there could be no other they would simply be the "Lanterns".

Sure not all of Blackest Night was great but I've always wanted there to be a Blue Lantern and now they just need to work on making Kyle a Blue Lantern and all will be well.
I like the idea of multiple organizations each trying to bend the universe to their own idealized visions, and thus coming into conflict.

And I have no problem with them all using power rings.

But I absolutely hate the multiple mood ring corps.
  15. The CBR preview for Flashpoint #5 is up containing a big reveal

    SPOILER BELOW

    http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&id=9631

The Flash accidentally Speedforce punched reality, and it is really his fault that this crumbling dystopia exists.

I am once again reminded how long it has been since Geoff Johns has done anything that did not either make me yawn or groan.
  16. Looser building codes cracks me up.

I think of countries like Pakistan that have skyscrapers fall down every time there is a bad earth quack thanks to institutionalized bribery.

I work at building my father was the maintenance man at for over a decade. He has made it expressly clear that our building codes ensure the building will not fall down on you or catch on fire, and that is about it. The contractor can screw you every other way from Sunday otherwise, and ours did. The fat cats that had my facility built got screwed over because they where cheap bastards that went with the lowest bidder, and never bothered to hire someone to police their investment.

Yes, poorer building codes then the USA is just what the world needs more of(sarcasm off).
  17. The movie looks interesting to me right up to the point that I see apes with spears going into battle.

I had more then enough retro-romantic,noble savage nonsense with Avatar.

Please tell me they get a hold of guns in a freaking hurry, otherwise I do not give a damn.

Except Grant is writing action comics, not Superman.

I am planning on getting and enjoying Action Comics. That is more then I can say regarding the vast majority of the DC relaunch.

As far as I am concerned DC is going to a pure Elsworlds line of comics by their ad hoc semi-abandonment of current continuity. A few look interesting, most do not. Meanwhile comics like Secret Six that I was enjoying are going bye-bye.

I am anticipating saving a lot of money, and missing a lot of comics.
  19. Everyone knows Batman has two perfected versions of every prototype in the works.
  20. And is it the season or the budget that allow this lowered expectation?

I notice that I can not add summer to "It is a good steak" and permit lower expectations. If the cook makes it in a different season he gets no lowered expectation. If he gets a bigger budget with which to prepare my steak, expectations for a good steak rise should rather then fall.
  21. Why does adding the word "Summer" to the description "Good movie" somehow allow a lower standard then the words "Good movie" alone?

I see this all the time, and it rather perplexes me. Am I the only person that thinks a good summer movie does not come out every summer?
  22. A movie where the main foe is the color yellow, and it is somehow failing to inspire rave reviews?

Color me ultraviolet(the color of shock on the emotional color spectrum).
  23. I also found it interesting that Ganger Jen made a duplicate with the intention of killing it. What the humans did out of ignorance and fear, she did with cold calculation. Her casual disregard for the life of both the original Jen and the duplicate make her a most chilling monster.
  24. I have to say that the organization seemed most interesting. It looked like a confederacy of religious orders working together. There where mentions of a female AI Pope. But of course we also saw a gay Anglican couple

Considering that the head of the Anglican church is traditionally the English monarch, is the future Queen from last season going to be making an appearance again sometime soon?
