Second Chance Channel: Listings?

Reading the thread about the Farscape conventions, someone mentioned the idea about a Second Chance channel that would show shows a la Farscape.

So, that inspired this thread.

First off, we need a name. Give me your best names for this Second Chance channel!

Secondly, we need shows. List what shows you would like to see aired and why!

tl;dr: Name the channel and provide shows suited for said channel.

GO!

I'll start then:

Two short lived series I loved are Kolchak: the night stalker and Brimstone.

As for a channel name?
How about TV Network Executives are Idiots (TVNEI) or is that too long?

Actually, "Second Chance" sounds pretty good, though if it's going to show only things like Firefly, it ought to have a geekdom-related name.

Assuming it would show non-science fiction/fantasy cancelled shows, I suggest that it include my favorite TV show of all time, Remember WENN, about a radio station in the late '30's/early '40's. Its final season ended on a cliffhanger that was never resolved.

For additional geektacular programming, I suggest a rebirth of that '80's classic, Misfits of Science. I wouldn't mind seeing more Sledge Hammer, either (though it'd be hard to come back from the finale of that show).

Edit: Another great show that I was too young to appreciate when it first aired but now I miss: Crime Story.

Sy Fy isn't typically the "reshow fan-favorite shows that got cancelled too soon" network. It's more often the "show 3rd rate shows that aren't good enough to be released/made anyway where else" network. Hopefully this new network would be smart enough to know the difference.

As far as a name for this new network it could be something as simple as "ReeVue" or somesuch.

I would also like them to add Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Sounds like a perfect fit to me. After all MST3K is rather like giving those movies a seconds chance...

Loved Brimstone.

Channel name: SyWhy

Listing: Only series that never got a second season because the short sited execs wouldn't let the show mature a little before giving it the axe.

1- Forever Knight--First vampire show I saw on TV, loved it. Sparkles be damned.
2- Pretender (including the movies that helped tie up loose ends) Just fun, episodic, man on the run series.
3- The Sentinel- It was quirky, super hearing, super sight cop, with a lil buddy sidekick. Fun/
4- Knight Rider (the original; Yes the one with Hoff) Do I need a reason for this one =p
5- Get Smart-- It's ...Get Smart!
6- First Wave-- Lotta Sci-Fi, paranoia realised, alien juju.
7- Every 1970 Tom Baker Dr Who episode =p

Channel Name -Flashback.

A bunch of Villains -Black Citadel , Pinnache.

Actually, SyFy is/was one of the networks that canceled/cancels shows prematurely.

My suggestion for a Second Chance network is a classic example of this...

The Dresden Files

Canceled after the first season.

Well a long time ago SyFy was the channel of old canceled SciFi-ish/Fantasy series. But that was a long time ago.

The problem with a Ouroboros style TV network is if they show an episode a day from a somewhat successful series, that's about a season a month. Then what, repeat? For a quickly canceled series it's two weeks. You simply run out of material within a year or two at most and repeat runs would draw less and less viewers. Less viewers, aka ratings, will eventually lead to the same broadening we see on other networks with cheap to make reality shows.

Well, what would be great is if the channel has success... enough so that it can then start PICKING UP the GOOD shows that the other channels are dropping!
Also... there will always be new shows that people don't want to see canceled to air on this channel.

Really, Second Chance just seems like a great name to me.

I hardly watch enough tv to offer any show suggestions though...

Something tells me that I'd end up watching SC though!

Hey Captain Reality...this is just for fun. Sheesh.

Besides I think most of the "joke" behind this idea was the fact that Hollywood doesn't seem like it's going to stop axing shows prematurely anytime soon.

I don't know if I was the only one who suggested it, but I suggested a Second Chance network. The idea was that they would specialize in renewing TV series that other networks cancelled, more than running old series that ended. Networks have done this often, like when NBC cancelled JAG, it moved to CBS and continued for several more seasons. The main focus would be things like making new seasons of shows that people really liked like Firefly,Angel and others that were cancelled with many fans wanting more.

Said network would have acquired the rights for the TV shows in question and would also show episodes from the first run.

How about instead we pool our resources and take control of the Sy Fy channel instead?

Step One after taking it over: THE NAME CHANGES BACK TO SCI-FI
Step Two: wrestling is removed
Step Three: restore Sci-fi programming both classic and new

I don't have a problem with wrasslin' being on sci-fi. I'd probably watch wrasslin' if it came on the Home Shopping Network. Although the question of it belonging on a network called "Sci-Fi/Scyfy"......

And if we're allowing stuff that isn't scifi/fantasy, I'm playing the Sorkin card and nominating Sports Night and Studio 60.

Edit: Oh yeah, and Police Squad and the Ben Stiller Show, for laughs.

Studio 60 may have been one of the best shows NBC has put on the air in years but decided to put all the advertising and support weight behind that horrid Heroes franchise instead that season.

They also had a variety of original sci-fi programming. Some of it better than others, but just off the top of my head...

Lexx (Didn't really care for this one, a bit too campy, but it was an original series )
Farscape
The Dresden Files
Stargate SG-1 (This one started on Showtime but moved to Sci-Fi for the last 5 seasons)
Stargate Atlantis (Was initially on Sci-Fi and The Movie Network, but the final few seasons were solely on Sci-Fi)

Now, 9 times out of 10, if you check the schedule for SyFy on a weekday, you are likely to be see 10 or so back-to-back episodes of Scare Tactics. What the......?
