Are Veterans Getting Penalized for CoV/Hero Gear?

You can see how much time you have played each one of your toons, just talk to the right civilian walking around.
I'm sure since thats tracked for each character, it can't be to hard to add them all up and see how long you've actually played the game.

Because the Forums are in DoooomCon 3 right now, and that includes, I believe, 'some rampant speculation about things in the future that may or may not affect anyone at all but people still want something to post about'.

Let's all relax about Veteran Rewards and the time YOU see on your account.
The reason you are seeing it in the first place is because of Auto Assault. They calculate their rewards based on paid time.
However - we will be basing ours on time you were eligible to play (beta doesn't count tho yo).
This played time includes any time that would come with a retail box purchase or hero gear purchase. In fact - the system already tracks this 'included' time. It is just not set up to make that data visible to you in your account management screen yet.
Also - there is a bug with game time card usage back around launch that may make your paid time seem smaller if you used a GTC then. That bug will be worked out before vet rewards kick off.

If you bought a years sub and then stopped billing halfway through, you still get credit for the whole year. If you paid for it - you got credit for it.
It doesn't matter if you actually played the game or not during your 'eligible time.'***

Okay I wasn't worried about Vet rewards before (not really that worried now although I'm looking forward to them) but saying PLAYED time got me a tad worried.
Just to clarify, does time that you have had the account but didn't log in stll count? I'm assuming you were just trying to mean that the time included the free months but wanted to check since there were a few months where I wasn't able to play but my account was still active.
If you -could- have logged in (were paying), I think you got credit.

I've played... 5000 hours, he's played 1000 (arbitrary numbers), but we've paid for the same amount of time... I would receive more Vet rewards than him?

I was just wondering the same....if so that s bullsh%&. So our money is good enough to take but not good enough to get the full benefits. Sorry some of us have real life things going on and dont have all freaking day to play your game...but hey..our money is good enough...this is so f d up. This is got to be the stupidest move by you guys yet............

You guys, honestly lets wait to hear before getting upset. I honestly don't think that is what Cuppa meant, I think she was just trying to find a way to say that our free tmes still counted. I asked in my earlier post jsut so clarify and confirm that I'm right since it can be read in a different way. But I'm not going to get upset until we know more.

No. You have both been playing for the same LENGTH of time. It's LENGTH of time, not Total Hours Played.

Read "played time" as "subscribed time", if that makes you more comfortable. The distinction Cuppa's making is between time paid for and time with play access. This is how it worked with the CoV Beta invites, and this is how it will work with Veteran Rewards. If you signed up two years ago, and your account has never lapsed, you will get the rewards for 2 years of play. This will happen regardless of whether any particular portion of that subscription time was paid for as a monthly fee, as part of the box price for CoH or CoV, as part of the price of a Hero Gear kit, or with a game card Statesman gave you for rescuing a kitty from a tree. It will even happen if you haven't logged in for the last year. If you're paid up for a year in advance, that year won't count until you've used it.

Just the first reward, which is trenchcoats at three months.
There's reference to various stuff to "encourage alts" like a perma-Nemesis Staff, but nothing concrete.

The only thing that has been revealed so far is that one of the first rewards is a trechcoat costume piece. I believe for 3 months of subscription time. Everything else is guesswork unless confirmed by a Dev.

Precedent for Auto Assault (I don't know if the Lineages or Guild Wars have vet rewards) is that they do not count the original months.. if this is an NCSoft tracked thing, they it's possible that free months might not be counted.

No idea about Lineage, but Guild Wars has a veteran reward tracked per character, not per account - you get a shiny on your character's birthday (one year to the day after creation).
