Are Veterans Getting Penalized for CoV/Hero Gear?
is it timeplayed or timed logged?
there is a differnce
should any one person get more for standing in atlas for 4 issues and hanging out then the ones that played!?!?
doesnt seem quite thought out to me
say i got 6 lvl 50's
and someone at the same time played one 50 then hung out in atlas while i lvl'd other toons
why shold they get more for "hanging out "

Total Paid Time The Total Paid Time section lists the total amount of time you have actually paid for in years and months for that game account. This includes time paid for using both credit/debit cards and game time cards. However, it does not count any included time that came with any applied serial codes. This section will only be available on accounts that have paid time

I bolded the relevant part. I know that I'm missing roughly 3 or 4 months. I also know that I have the "free" months from the regular CoH box, collector's edition box, and my CoV collector's edition box. I'm not sure on the last month, as I might have had a lapse, or it might not have taken into account my most recent month yet.
Also, Cuppa mentioned this in her post - [ QUOTE ]
... - the system already tracks this 'included' time. It is just not set up to make that data visible to you in your account management screen yet.

I have my faith that things will be resolved in due time. I mean, this isn't due out for at least another 2-4 months (my speculation)

The reason you are seeing it in the first place is because of Auto Assault. They calculate their rewards based on paid time.
However - we will be basing ours on played time (beta doesn't count tho yo).

Let me get this straight...
So, if a Friend and I both had our own accounts since CoH Day 1, never lapsed on a renewal, always had an active account...
I've played... 5000 hours, he's played 1000 (arbitrary numbers), but we've paid for the same amount of time... I would receive more Vet rewards than him?

Wow, people are dense... Played time = time subscribed, i.e. time when you have been able to play. Not your hours played.
Geez.

I asked for a clarification, as did many others.
CuppaJo said paid time versus played time. Right now I am at work. I am currently paying for City of Heroes, since I paid my $15 this past 28th, and is good until the upcoming 28th. But am i playing now? No, I am at work.
In the past, I realize Cuppa has said things such as the 3 months = Trenchcoats, but things change, especially in this game.
Try to act like this forum is just a bunch of people gathered in a room, talking over some things. I hope the next time you're in a board room and someone asks for clarification you don't tell them they're an idiot for not immediately grasping the concept.
Pretend like you don't have your internet anonymity to say whatever that pent up child inside wants.
Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.
sooo if its time logged baiscally
so whats from stopping people hearing this to log into a mish for more reward(reward farming if you will
sounds like people who are actually playing might get alittle screwed

OMG.
/joins other guy in banging head against wall in frustration.
It's SUBSCRIBED TIME. Not in-game hours time.
Cuppa's original statement was pretty clear, and she has since clarified it further.
SUBSCRIBED TIME.
Man, it BETTER not be times the account was billed. I've been paying 6 months at a time for a while now. That means that I've only been billed 5 or 6 times!

LOL. Look, you've been around for awhile, and I'm sure you were in CoV Beta. We got into CoV Beta based on "paid and played" time or "subscribed time." I just thought Cuppa's statements, both in her PM to me and in her original post here, spoke of the very same system for veteran's rewards. Plus, the fact that Cuppa in her original post said it would include any free time given by CoH/CoV/Hero Gear purchase would imply that it's NOT in-game time.
Anyway, she has since clarified her statements even further, so hopefully that will end all confusion. I doubt it, but there's always hope.
Also...
I didn't call you an idiot. Spacenut said you were dense, not me. And I don't even agree with that, for the record.

It's neither. It's the time your subscription has been active.
Not how many hours you have logged in.
Not how many hours you played on a character.

Hey everybody. Im very excited about the up-and-coming Veterans rewardsbut had heard some odd things while perusing the boards. You knowfolks who werent getting credit for timecards and such. So I thought Id hit my account and see if mine was up to snuff.
Account created: April 12, 2004. Woo for me!
Paid time? 25 months.
Yep, they only count the times you PAY them. Not the free month you get with CoH, not the free month you get with CoV, and not the free month you get with the Hero Gear Kit. I should have 28 months.
[ QUOTE ]
Hi XXXXXX,
Thank you for your reply.
After reviewing your billing information, your account is showing the correct amount of billed time. The included time that comes with the games do not count towards the billed time. So while you may have 28 months that you have been playing the game, you have only been billed 25 times.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
[/ QUOTE ]
So my question is:
Do you think the Devs will take this into account somehow? By being a faithful game player, purchasing extra (somewhat useless) fluff, and diving on the expanshaloneIm getting punished. If the rewards are based on time paid, Ill get my Veterans rewards two months after other folks. Or, say, three months behind someone who picked up a 14-day trial.
Am I just overreacting? Or should this be bothering more people?

Let's all relax about Veteran Rewards and the time YOU see on your account.
The reason you are seeing it in the first place is because of Auto Assault. They calculate their rewards based on paid time.
However - we will be basing ours on played time (beta doesn't count tho yo).
This played time includes any time that would come with a retail box purchase or hero gear purchase. In fact - the system already tracks this 'included' time. It is just not set up to make that data visible to you in your account management screen yet.
Also - there is a bug with game time card usage back around launch that may make your paid time seem smaller if you used a GTC then. That bug will be worked out before vet rewards kick off.

Days can be played time too. She doesn't say broken to the hour. It quite easily can be able time that your account is active.
Is this "time I've *played* the game..." i.e. cumulative hours logged ON
..or is it...
"time I've *paid* for the game..." with actual use irrelevant?
Any Vet Awards should be for total TIME played; more than total months PAID (not played) for...

Blech. So much for actually being a game Veteran.
Should call it "Billing Veteran Extra $$$ Sponge Awards" then.
Why has this question been asked so many times in just this one thread? I thought Cuppa's two posts in here made it very clear, yet just after her post, the question was asked again.
I'm not ragging on people, I seriously want to know - are you all just not reading the thread?

You're the sort to complain about being hung with a new rope, aren't you?
I think it's a fair bet that most people haven't been paying for a subscription for months/years without ever playing.

So... now people WANT it to be in-game time? ::mind boggles::
Loyalty to the game has nothing to do with how many hours someone has spent in game. Someone may love the game and believe in the game, but be unable to play as much as some others because of real-life responsibilities.
Active subscriptions are the most important measure of an MMO's success. As such, the way Veterans Rewards are going to be handled here is the most logical and fair way.
Can never please everyone, I suppose.

No, they're not. If people would just make the Dev Digest their FIRST STOP when they visit the forums it would eliminate a lot of confusion. Not all, of course, and of course the Dev Digest only compiles Dev posts once per hour, but it would help quite a bit.

How would you determine who is a game veteran? I might think that someone who's studied powersets in depth (ie, Arcanaville) would be a veteran regardless of the specific number of hours she's actually logged in the game, whereas a person with ten level 50's might still be a complete noob - hell, you could just sit in a mission for a month and get plenty of "in-game" time. I personally prefer the subscribed time because it is really rewarding game loyalty, rather than how "good" you are at the game. I suppose it doesn't hurt that I have 27 months on my account, though .

I certainly agree with that, but I just can't imagine posting on a thread without even skimming the whole thing. I don't like posting without getting all the facts (read: people's opinions) first (hence my low post count), but I can understand not wanting to take all that time. But not even skimming the thread? How do you know that your question hasn't already been answered and you're not actually making yourself look kinda foolish? Are people really that lazy?
