Hey guys, It's been a long time since I've been on CoX. It seems they have put in a LOT of the things asked for in the day.
I'm sure somewhere on this board I can find the answers, but I just have several questions...and I know you all can answer these without effort.
1) Do they allow us to transfer influence from one character to another yet (back in teh day you have a find a middle man just to transfer 50K at a time.
2) What is currently the best TANKER type hero that ISN'T toggle reliant (hate having to depend of blue drops all the time).
3) Seems like big teams aren't as common as they use to be, any hints on how to find large teams?
4) Don't see any controllers anymore (seems like an overabundnet of Blasters and defenders)...are the trollers, tankers, and scrappers the weaker types now (seems impossible to think scrappers would be a weak AT)?
Glad to be back...all your (positive) comments are greatly appreciated! -

I am curious as to why people feel that including more features, such as "loot" and crafting, would somehow detract from the experience that they already are getting.
If these things could be included to where they do not affect the way that you currently play, why would you be so up in arms about it being included for the people who would like those features?
[/ QUOTE ]
Some people are blindly obsessed with the notion that if they're added, the instantlybecome "must haves"...
[/ QUOTE ]
Look at enhancements, Inspirations. When loot is added, if you don't go get the loot, you make yourself less than what all your teammates are....why would anyone want to make all there heroes the weak link? -

I remember the recent Boomtown interview with Positron, and reading his comments on player apartments. Him saying that player apartments offered no real gameplay opportunities, and therefore weren't of real importance.
I was so disappointed reading that, being that for one I would love to have a personal base, and two because personal bases are only as important as the game designers decide to make them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I too would like apartments. They can be linked to secret Identities, contacts. Maybe heroes can get extra missions by reading there daily paper. Maybe they can get extra missions by checking there answer machine every once in a while. Maybe heroes that you play with can leave text messages on your answer machine that you can get when you get home. Maybe we can here about big events coming on the AM. Maybe we can have undercover contacts come to us at our apartments, maybe we can have a costume design option in our room where we can save possible future outfits for our hero. Maybe these apartments can be somewhat big and that all our heroes/villians on a server share one large apartment with many rooms...with one entrance. Maybe we can pick where are apartment is and we have to be careful entering it so that mobs don't find where it is, maybe we create passwords for allowing others into our apartments, maybe if mobs/enemies find out where we are we have to reclaim it. -

Let's all relax about Veteran Rewards and the time YOU see on your account.
The reason you are seeing it in the first place is because of Auto Assault. They calculate their rewards based on paid time.
However - we will be basing ours on played time (beta doesn't count tho yo).
This played time includes any time that would come with a retail box purchase or hero gear purchase. In fact - the system already tracks this 'included' time. It is just not set up to make that data visible to you in your account management screen yet.
Also - there is a bug with game time card usage back around launch that may make your paid time seem smaller if you used a GTC then. That bug will be worked out before vet rewards kick off.

Days can be played time too. She doesn't say broken to the hour. It quite easily can be able time that your account is active. -

Hey everybody. Im very excited about the up-and-coming Veterans rewardsbut had heard some odd things while perusing the boards. You knowfolks who werent getting credit for timecards and such. So I thought Id hit my account and see if mine was up to snuff.
Account created: April 12, 2004. Woo for me!
Paid time? 25 months.
Yep, they only count the times you PAY them. Not the free month you get with CoH, not the free month you get with CoV, and not the free month you get with the Hero Gear Kit. I should have 28 months.

Hi XXXXXX,
Thank you for your reply.
After reviewing your billing information, your account is showing the correct amount of billed time. The included time that comes with the games do not count towards the billed time. So while you may have 28 months that you have been playing the game, you have only been billed 25 times.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.

So my question is:
Do you think the Devs will take this into account somehow? By being a faithful game player, purchasing extra (somewhat useless) fluff, and diving on the expanshaloneIm getting punished. If the rewards are based on time paid, Ill get my Veterans rewards two months after other folks. Or, say, three months behind someone who picked up a 14-day trial.
Am I just overreacting? Or should this be bothering more people?
Not trying to cause a ruckus, I remain

Cuppa said its played...but no one should feel like they are owed for something they never paid for. I think it was a good move on CoH part, beyond would should be expected. -

Female characters can have bare legs and male characters cannot - NOT FAIR!

The DragonLance series is tied as my favorite set of books.
Drizz't is the other set. -
I imagine having an original (good) idea in a comic after 100 years of such must be tough.
You know the saying....there is nothing new under the sun. -
well, I say wav, its uses Windows Media Player...not that sure what type of file it is.
-
I have a short (very) wav file I want to turn into an avatar...any idea how to do that?

Hello, I believe this tread is more for the groups to put their name out, but I feel compelled to do the opposite.
I am looking for a super group that meets and teams every weekend either Saturday or Sunday. Looking for a little rp, really more like staying in character as I fight. Looking for a group that using teamwork, that doesn't assist in PL heroes, that plays the game to enjoy the game not win it, is not PvP based, and who either has a cool base or is on the way to getting it.
I team well but have decided to limit myself to 2 heroes for the next few months. ...drop me a line if you have what I'm looking for!!!

Change and balance all you want for PVP, I don't care. Just keep the changes out of my PVE game, as was promised.
[/ QUOTE ]/agreed. Its own servers even better. -

First of all, it'll be a Unisystem game - but with tweaks to combat.
Secondly, I might be GMing games of it at the big cons (Gen Con, Origins, etc.) - so keep your eyes peeled.

Heck it gets a bit to bogged down for me, but it's just so darn flexible. In my opinion any system that wants to do Superhero must have that flexibility (if not the large amount of mathmatical formula and charts.)
[/ QUOTE ]
This right here illustrates my biggest gripe with PnP RPG players - that they require a "flexible" system. What the hell? Every RPG system is 100% flexible! When did "if its not in the rules it can't be done" become the PnP way? I've encountered the over and over with RPG players for some time now and it boggles me.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think the issue is "if it's not in the rules it can't be done." That's never been my experience. I think the issue is "how far do I have to go outside these rules and/or make up my own stuff in order to accommodate this idea?"
With superpowered games, for example, the issue tends to be scalability. How well does the game system handle people trying to pick up minivans? In my experience certain ones do this quite well, such as the HERO system, and others not so well, like the MasterBook system. D&D, last I checked, didn't handle the idea of spontaneous magic nearly as well as White Wolf's Mage. etc.
You can always work around, improvise, etc., etc., but the less the system requires this the better.
[ QUOTE ]
You need something or don't like something that the rules have/don't have. MAKE IT THE FUNK UP! The more simple the system the better really. I think RPG players have gotten bound up in numbers, charts and rules and forget what the they are actually playing.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like systems, personally, for a variety of reasons that I won't bore anyone with. If you're really into the whole idea of "simpler is better" I suggest checking out Trollbabe.
For a bit more game system but a decidedly strange RPG experience, I also suggest Puppetland.
[/ QUOTE ]
That was evil.
Read Trollbabe, shame on you ...lol
