Its been a long time

Hey guys, It's been a long time since I've been on CoX. It seems they have put in a LOT of the things asked for in the day.

I'm sure somewhere on this board I can find the answers, but I just have several questions...and I know you all can answer these without effort.

1) Do they allow us to transfer influence from one character to another yet (back in teh day you have a find a middle man just to transfer 50K at a time.

2) What is currently the best TANKER type hero that ISN'T toggle reliant (hate having to depend of blue drops all the time).

3) Seems like big teams aren't as common as they use to be, any hints on how to find large teams?

4) Don't see any controllers anymore (seems like an overabundnet of Blasters and defenders)...are the trollers, tankers, and scrappers the weaker types now (seems impossible to think scrappers would be a weak AT)?

Glad to be back...all your (positive) comments are greatly appreciated!

1) Trade limit is 99million (might be 999 million, I forget) now. Until Issue 17 you still need a middle man though. After I17 there will be email transfers.

2) All Protection powersets rely on Toggles. Some more than others. However things have changed a bit so that you can get to 20, and have Stamina pretty easily now. That being said, Willpower is fairly popular, and has Quick Recovery in it that makes life easy in the END area.

3) Head down to your server forums, and find out what the active Global Channels on your server are. You communicate with folks regardless of what alt/zone/level they are, and it's easier to hook up and find teams.

4) Plenty of Controllers out there still, however you're seeing an abundance of Defenders and Blasters for a reason: Dual Pistols. The set is part of Going Rogue, but was released early for people who Pre-Purchased. AT balance on the whole is very good. They're just stronger/weaker under different circumstances.

Welcome back.

1) Not yet, but we will have this next month-ish when Issue 17 comes out.

2) Not sure there is a Tank that doesn't depend on toggles to some degree.

3) Start your own teams. Sorry if that sounds trite, but really that's the best way to get the kind of teaming experience you want.

4) I see controllers all the time. Note that the Dual Pistols power set just became available (with a pre-order of Going Rogue). It's the new shiny, and it's not available for controllers or scrappers. Also, your observations could be correct, but just be a fluke of timing - i.e., nobody was playing their controllers or scrappers in the times you've been on.

Another point in regards to your second question:

Being mezzed isn't as bad on a toggle-based character as it used to be. Defensive toggles are suppressed by a mez, but they come back on when it's over.

Scrappers are very strong, one of the more popular ATs for soloing AVs, rikti mothership pylons, and other extreme performance feats.

Trollers are also quite popular. For farming, fire trollers have never gone out of style.

About toggle-heavy characters and their addiction to little blue pills: we now have the ability to combine any three of one inspiration type into an inspiration of a different type. For example: combine 3 Insight into a Catch a Breath, combine 3 Righteous Rage into a Second Wind. The slash command is /insp_combine. For the first example, you would type "/insp_combine Insight Catch_a_Breath".

Here's the bind file I use to generate macros for these commands (doesn't work on Awakens or Break Frees):

Code:
$$macro T1 "insp_combine Insight Catch_a_Breath$$insp_combine Enrage Catch_a_Breath$$insp_combine Luck Catch_a_Breath$$insp_combine Respite Catch_a_Breath$$insp_combine Sturdy Catch_a_Breath"
$$macro T2 "insp_combine Keen_Insight Take_a_Breather$$insp_combine Focused_Rage Take_a_Breather$$insp_combine Good_Luck Take_a_Breather$$insp_combine Dramatic_Improvement Take_a_Breather$$insp_combine Rugged Take_a_Breather"
$$macro T3 "insp_combine Uncanny_Insight Second_Wind$$insp_combine Righteous_Rage Second_Wind$$insp_combine Phenomenal_Luck Second_Wind$$insp_combine Resurgence Second_Wind$$insp_combine Robust Second_Wind"
$$macro END "insp_exec_name Catch_a_Breath$$insp_exec_name Take_a_Breather$$insp_exec_name Second_Wind"
Put this in a file called end.txt in your CoH directory, and type /bindloadfile COH_PATH\end.txt" to load the macros (where COH_PATH is the path to your CoH install). The last macro uses the largest blue inspiration in your insp tray.

OP, I know you said no toggles, but you should know that well-built Dark Armor tanks are said to be nigh-impossible to defeat.

They're also the single worst choice for someone who hates running out of endurance!

My friend has a near-50 Elec/Elec Tanker, I recommend that. He can be as liberal as he wants with his blue bar and never run out, he has huge Resist and Regen numbers, the build has several cheap IO set bonus opportunities, and the build has a few "wacky fun" powers (especially Lightning Rod). Also, he can do respectable AoE damage. It's not the premier Tanker build, but it works well, and it can do handy things like solo-tank U'Kon Gr'ai (Rikti Raid GM).

(And this is partially-IO'ed, at level 40!)

Edit: And seeing few Controllers has got to be a fluke, even with Dual Pistols coming out last week. Over the last few months, it has been normal to see less than half as many Defenders on as any other AT. For example, peak times on Infinity most of last month had the following show in Search across all level ranges, fairly consistently (numbers are approximate, to within about 5 characters either way): 40 Scrappers, 35 Blasters, 30 Tanks, 35 Controllers, 15 Defenders, 10 Kheldians. This was actually worse for Defenders than it appears here, though, because there were never more than 3-5 above level 35. I remember one search I was doing for an ITF that showed 0 Khelds, 2 Defenders, and 16 Controllers.
