Yeah, the source above was merely to help you get an estimate. The point being that if you ever unsubscribed those months you were not subscribed would not count towards your rewards.

I did re-re-re-peruse the Dev digest, but to little avail. So then, how DO they know? If I had quit playing, and come back--would my account be updated to say something like...

They look at the date you opened your account. They look at the current date when the awards are implemented. They then subtract any time that your account was closed. Viola. Time played.
Me personally, I'm set. Account's been running since day negative 3 of CoH

Had an account at launch, but, stopped playing 2 months after due to work and such. When I decided to come back, I had forgotten my password, so, I was unable to re-activate that account.
I came back when CoV launched, and now have 9 months of paid time. Would have 11.

Precedent for Auto Assault (I don't know if the Lineages or Guild Wars have vet rewards) is that they do not count the original months.. if this is an NCSoft tracked thing, they it's possible that free months might not be counted. I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't get credit for my three free months, personally.

{Edit} Something looks wonky, as I'm only showing 1 year and 9 months and I've only been not active for about a week while I made sure I wasn't going to over extend my credit card balance.
And I've been playing since the three day head start too.
Something in their numbers is not adding up.

I suggest you wait to get worked up about it
1) if and when you find out for sure that you are being shorted some time and
2) you find out what the rewards actually are.

Well, I don't think anyone would be three months ahead, since presumably everyone has one month free from buying the game. So to that that partly equalizes things; at most they'd only be two months ahead.
We don't know that that's how things will work here, though, so no point worrying yet (and that's coming from a mother with advanced training in worrying. )
The Devs have already said it includes 'free' months. Why are we still talking about this?

Technically my fault yeah <,<; But I had no idea he'd stick to one character like glue... and for that matter; join an SG, with which he played almost constantly <O.o>; It was truely odd.
Oh well >< I hope whatever the 3 year reward is I won't feel like crying about. Cause I'll be quite sad if its truely awesome or something I'd really want >.<;; Knowing my luck it will be <T_T> Oh well. Maybe the Mecha AT will be in by the time I get it <'x'>; I can wish can't I?

And I too have fingers and toes crossed that the 2yr and 3yr rewards are not too cool. I have only been playing for about a year now.

well, if you've ever used a game time card, it's apparantly caused problems with tracking. mine was a few months off, and support fixed it for me.
What happens if you've cancelled and re-opened your account?
I had to do that to change Credit Cards, very annoying.

I PM'd CuppaJo asking if vet rewards were going to be calculated based on what it says on the NCSoft account page, or on actual total time PLAYED (which of course are 2 different things because of the free months). Her reply was this:

All months are included, paid or free. That's straight from our friends with the red names.

Hey everybody. Im very excited about the up-and-coming Veterans rewardsbut had heard some odd things while perusing the boards. You knowfolks who werent getting credit for timecards and such. So I thought Id hit my account and see if mine was up to snuff.

Yep, they only count the times you PAY them. Not the free month you get with CoH, not the free month you get with CoV, and not the free month you get with the Hero Gear Kit. I should have 28 months.

So my question is:
Do you think the Devs will take this into account somehow? By being a faithful game player, purchasing extra (somewhat useless) fluff, and diving on the expanshaloneIm getting punished. If the rewards are based on time paid, Ill get my Veterans rewards two months after other folks. Or, say, three months behind someone who picked up a 14-day trial.
Am I just overreacting? Or should this be bothering more people?
