Definitely bugged. The Nice GM completed it for me so I could proceed...
-
Um, no. I'm having the same problem, and my inbox has been a vacuum for months.
-
Not quite; after level 32 you only get to select a new power every THREE levels instead of every two; on the other hand, you get three enhancement slots for every level in-between.

Haha, yeah, when I started playing CoH it was barely a year old, and I invested in the Prima guide It was already sadly out of date; reading it today would be akin to reading a book about the Old West. I rely heavily on the Wiki and these forums for info.
Also got that binder-centric guide for City of Villains, which I thought was a fairly elegant solution to the problem. But again, it eventually just served for something for my kid to page through when he couldn't play the game. -
I only use Titan's iteration of the wiki, but a couple years ago I got a nasty malware infection from just such a banner Trojan. After cleaning it out (several day's work), I installed the NoScript add-on for Firefox, and have led a much quieter life since.

As far as requiring stealth goes... in Agent G's mission prior to the "Clear 1st, 2nd and 3rd Excavation Sites" missions, you are issued an Arachnos Disguise temp power, good for a half hour. The disguise made it possible for us, the first time out, to explore the Arachnos Dig corridors with impunity until we found the excavation sites, and still had enough juice in the Disguise to stealth the mission immediately afterwards, "Find the PCM".
Having also gotten to the missions on characters without the Disguise... those runs were, shall we say... exciting, at the very least. -
Oh, Nosferatu, how we hate thee. And Ghost Widow. And both Infernals.
But I love the fact that there are opponents my characters have to think twice about taking on. That require some tactics instead of mere bum-rushing. We need our Dr. Dooms and Lex Luthors.
That said, I'm also lazy enough to appreciate that they're not all like that. -
I could see the Little Black Book being a problem to implement, code-wise as the point where Contacts give you their cell phone number seems "baked in" to the structure of their arcs. As ever, I would be quite glad to be proven wrong on that count.
The idea of getting a Netbook or somesuch to pay Base Upkeep online or contact a trainer would seem easier - I can't think of any reason those functions must be tied to specific game geography. Both as they are currently mainly serve the purposes of a) time sinks and b) immersion.
As I said, paying the Base Rent online makes sense; gaining your new power online, a bit less so - then, having BABS or an Arbiter magically give you a new ability takes a bit of role-playing acrobatics, as well.
While I'm here: I vote an enthusiastic "YES!" on Rune of Warding. So cool. -

You know, hearing myself and an SG mate giggle like schoolgirls on TeamSpeak as we ninja sprinted and flipped our way through the evening alone was worth the ten bucks, not to mention the cosmetic upgrades for my zombie ****** stalker, Wrathful Khan.
So nyah-nyah on you haters and nay-sayers. Nyah-nyah, I say.
EDIT: a shorthand for "Mongolian" is censored? learn something new every day. -
Ninja Run is also incompatible with Combat Jumping, not just Super Jump.
That said, my claws brute, Even Faster Pussycat, is now really living up to her name. -
Available at Level 4, not 1, Sam. Other than that, I'll have to see it in action before I can form an opinion.

I generally weigh in enthusiastically when someone suggests making the GM appearances have an actual impact on the game environment. It would also be nice if the rewards for taking the dang things down got bumped up again to the old levels, so people would actually WANT to take them on.
I'd like to see the smash-things-up physics from Mayhem Missions applied to blueside missions. There are some villain bases just begging to have stuff trashed. A certain volcano base on Striga Isle comes to mind, but there are certainly many others.
Finally: a jet pack costume piece for Natural types who still take flight as a travel power. Heck, backpacks, period. -

Not really sure about the utility of posting about this when there are still literally weeks to go.
But since this thread seems essentially narcissistic: I'm enjoying it. The event is varied enough that I can do whatever I want. Generally run a mission, exit, then trick or treat the very door I just exited. As more of my SG mates log on, we can run the banners or zombie attacks for the badges. Or do more missions. Or ToT.
The lag fests are to be expected, alas, especially on my computer. I find I enjoy these events more on my support characters, when I can contribute best by spamming my buffs and debuffs.
Mileage varies, as ever. -
Having recently claimed the "Go Back and Get the Ghost Slaying Axe" Veteran Reward, I was wondering how it would work on my Shield/MA scrapper; yep, one handed overhand chop. Very cool.
-
Just got my 54 month badge a couple of weeks ago. Amazing how much I enjoy now having the Ghost Slaying Axe on a bunch of toons that earlier had thought nothing of passing over it.
I also made the determination to play one each of the ATs to 50; so far I've accomplished that with a Blaster, Scrapper, Tanker, Controller, Mastermind and Crab Spider (Gee,and it only took me nearly five years to do that....). It's more of a stretch goal than anything with a hard deadline: I just like playing the game.
My first 50 was also my first character, an assault rifle/energy blaster. Yeah, I had no idea I was "teh gimp". She hit 50 when it was still standard procedure for a friend to announce in Peregrine Broadcast that you had just dinged 50, and a chorus of "Gratz" followed. Robotrixie still comes out on occasion - she really wants one of those Redding Rifles.
My favorite builds tend to be the non-standard ones. Robotrixie didn't have much use for most of the melee-based powers in Energy Manipulation (save Power Thrust, Build-Up and Total Focus), which allowed some experimentation in the pool powers. She became quite the Swiss Army Knife over the months.
Since the powerset proliferation of I16, villains have been getting a bit more play from me, so I may be able to change that imbalance in my 50s. The claws/electric brute is every bit as awesome as I'd expected, with the broadsword/regen stalker and the earth/earth dominator very close seconds. -
52 next month. And yet, not the oldest person here! Awesome!

I've said it before, I'll say it again: I would have to be given grocery bags full of money to be a dev, because they simply... cannot... win.
Either the game is criticized as too simple, or - when they attempt to put a bit of challenge in the game that doesn't involve trebling opponents hit points or resistances - that is seen as "punishment". -
Quote:As a longtime altoholic, I very much endorse this view; it's my usual method of operation.I don't tend to Exemp down with my 50s ever really. Why bother when it's pretty certain I'll have an alt around the actual level of the team I can switch to instead, that way they'll be progressing and gaining XP. Plus chances are if it's a PuG I'll make a few friends around his/her level for future team-ups.
Nothing to do with "snobbery". Just seems more practical to me to pick a char of about the same level instead.
On the other hand - I've not tried the !!!NEW!!! !!!EXCITING!!! exemplar system, but never had that much of a problem exemplaring my 50s before. It made for an interesting challenge, and there are certainly enough instances of characters losing powers in comic book lore to provide grist for the role playing mill. -
Considering last night a pal and I created new characters and in the space of a mere two hours or so got them up to level 8, fully enhanced and with raptor packs... nope, I can't see it.
Now, said pal also suggested a Vet Reward that started out new characters with some inf - he suggested 50,000, I countered with a more reasonable ten or even five thousand - that's a windfall for a level 1. Something like that would seem to have more utility than simply creating a flat-broke level 20. -
Then, since most of these Giant Monsters blueside that are the object of such envy just... wander around until they despawn, one has to ask... what would be the point?
The reward vs. the risk on those things got nerfed badly some time ago, and show no signs of being rescinded. -
Chalk another one up in the Confused Exit/Entrance Train Room column.
My most recent isn't - thankfully - all that recent. My lower teened Inv/SS tanker was wrapping something up in Skyway and saw a character with a great look. He ran up to look closer and was about to send a tell as to how exactly they had done that with their aura... when - BOOM - faceplanted.
Yeah, that was the first week they let the Supa Trolls out.
There was also that incidence of six-slotted Rest and Brawl, but I think I've embarrassed myself enough for one day.
