Alternate animations for for /Shield characters?

I decided to make a Stone/Shield Brute the other night. I picked Stone Mallet and level 2, and imediately noticed that the animation was different. Instead of the two handed overhead smash, he did a one handed attack. Then I picked Heavy Mallet at 4 and that animation was different too.

My question is, are there any other powers with different animations for /Shield characters?

There's probably a good number of them. A lot of animations would get in the way of that huge shield.

Though I can't name any, I'm sure there are. =P

Arc ID: 348998 - Becoming a villain
Arc ID: 373341 - To Save a Hero

Got Inf?

Brawl!

No, seriously, Brawl is different if you have a shield. Sometimes you do the old "kick" alternate animation (that was originally implemented for Archery characters, I think), and sometimes you sort of backhand the bad guy with your shield arm, which is righteously cool.

If you look carefully and compare, you can see something we've been told by BackAlleyBrawler in the past.

That is, almost every animation is different for shield characters. Not radically so, but they are. Because of changes needed in arm angle to look right, a lot of things had to be re-scripted. There's also a lot of animations that didn't get done, try a bunch of emotes with your shield on. many of them won't work.

Yeah, I noticed that myself and completely fogort to mention it.

Wow. I never really noticed this. I'll have to pay more attention to my /Shield characters. I gotta say that I'm highly impressed by this. I never knew that implementing Shield Defense was that much work.

Yup, this is so true. Even stuff like sitting on a bench and such doesn't work with your shield activated. Just noticed it a few days ago.

Perfect example of "standard code rant" at work

Having recently claimed the "Go Back and Get the Ghost Slaying Axe" Veteran Reward, I was wondering how it would work on my Shield/MA scrapper; yep, one handed overhand chop. Very cool.
