Jay's Costume Bug Fix Thread
Ok Jay, here's one for ya.
The Jackets->Military Jacket Open over the Chest->Flak Jacket->Flak Jacket (Color Mask).....the chest almost completely disappears. The little grey buttons are still mostly there, but the rest is gone. It's actually kind of awesome, and would LOVE for that to be a feature, but this one is a bug I'm betting
Invisible Chest
Its not the greatest screenhot, but I think it shows what I'm talking about.
Hey there.
Back in CoV Beta there was a part called monstrous shoulder fur that I believe was under shoulder parts.
When CoV went live I wasn't able to find it. Is this a "bug" or was it intentionally deleted?
The female two-tone flack jacket has been removed... the one where you could make the secondary color alter certain highlights on the sleeves. I need this back!! (Please??)

There are two Face 1's! I'm guessing that one of them doesn't exist at all in the creator anymore, only for people who still have it.
In any case, they're very different.
Face 1 (hero original)
Face 1 (villain original)
As you can see, they're very different.
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe this is actually intended - whatever face you currently have shows at the top of the list as "Face 1".. I've noticed this on every costume I've edited lately, and the character's current face is always Face 1. I think it is just so that you don't end up with some wild face when you load the editor, since they recently renamed/numbered alot of them. Might be nice if it was called "Current Face" rather than Face 1 though
[/ QUOTE ]
On a related note, I tried to add a cowboy hat to my hero, but "Face 1" under Hats is not the same as "Face 1" under Standard. I couldn't find the original hero "Face 1" under Hats. All the faces under Hats now appear to be villian faces.
The Old Loose Pants that had seperate settings for Top of the Pants and Bottom of the Pants which let you set different patterns are missing from the costume generator and have been for some time. The old Baggy Pants with this functionality are also missing.
Example of old Loose Pants with different patterns on top and bottom.
These pants were probably lost when the new costume options in I5 or so were brought in and the pants category was consolidated.
EDIT: My screenshot also shows that the double ammo bandolier clips on the chest in certain poses.

I also have issues when going to the Costume shoppe and finding random pieces missing/changed on my costumes.. I also end up with missing (i.e ghostly) body parts on occasion. Seems pretty random. Different faces, accessories, hair..
Doesn't seem to matter much which Character I'm using I get costume randomness which I have to look through the options and 'rebuild' the 'Current' costume before altering it.

For females the skin tones between the head and the body don't match when using any top that doesn't cover the neck.

I first noticed this in Issue 4. It didn't used to do that. It's really annoying. Atleast now there's the neck chain option that can kind of hide this problem.
I have the same problem with female toons wearing boots with long pants. Boots clip out of pants at calf level.

Beat me to it. :-)
But yes, in both the SG color editor and in the Icons costume editor, all four of my costume slots will have randomly "wrong" pieces displayed. My face may change, or I may have pants instead of armor, etc.
I'm guessing that the re-naming of pieces and the merging of the CoH/CoV enabled costume pieces (for those with both games on their account), may be causing any editor that dynamically creates your costume to become "confused" over which pieces it should be showing you, giving you whatever new piece is located in that part of the database/spreadsheet/whateever, instead of what you actually are wearing.
While I suppose a few trips to Icons (one per costume slot) would fix this, some of the items I currently wear don't seem to still be available, so I can't exactly use the "free trips to Icons to rebuild your costume" workaround.
Still, all in all, good work, and thank you for putting so much effort and attention into fixing things up. Rumor has it that Jay is sexy.

Hey guys, some of these aren't bugs, per se. Hit "Reset" on the pattern entry on the costume pieces that should be two-tone, and you'll get a special pattern named after the costume piece.
Actually, that gives me an idea. Reorganize the patterns such that pieces like Tech Wired, Flack Jacket, Chaos Leather, etc have their own special patterns as the default (instead of None) to clear up confusion.
Some patterns, especially the old CoH ones, don't line up too well with pieces on the next body part. There are several examples of this, notably the tiger patterns.
It almost seems as though you weren't intended to use the entire set at once; the face pattern conspicuously cuts off right at the neck, the pants pattern appears to be slightly darker than the other patterns (you can see the line at the waist, even), and the gloves and boots are noticeably lighter. The stripe patterns don't match up too well with each other, either.
I can get back to you with more examples later, but some of the Stripe patterns don't sync up too well, either.
No screenshots on hand, but there are some cases where the robotic arms with the wires sticking out (Steampunk style, I think) clip through shoulder pads. This is especially noticable with the Small shoulderpads.
Jay and Ian are sexy. Yeah, I'll stroke your egos. You guys deserve it.
Arc #41077 - The Men of State
Arc #48845 - Operation: Dirty Snowball
Hey, when swiming in water, I've noticed that any cape other than the original (pre-CoV) capes will vanish when underwater, this is a problem for both CoH and CoV and quite noticible.
A few things I've noticed
1) This may have always been like this, but a lot of the glasses (Detail 1) options clip the Shy hairstyle so the edge of the glasses poke out from the hair in weird ways. Sorry, no screenshots of that one.
2) The capes are detaching from the mantles. Screenshot 1 , Screenshot 2 (also the hair clips the cape, but I presume that's pretty much standard since the ponytail AND the Glam hair do the same thing)
3) The color black isn't the same shade/reflective level on tights/metallic top as it is on tights/metallic bottom so if you don't have a belt it has a line there. Screenshot 3
Ok, a few things I've found:
Certain female bottom pieces have patterns/colors that don't quite map correctly; in other words they bleed in some places and don't match up to what should be matching boots. I did take a screenshot , but it's not very obvious. It's quite apparent in the costume creator tho.
In Bottoms with Skin, both the Shorts 2+Tights and Shorts 3+Tights shows this problem. It's very obvious if you set the boots to Tights with matching leg colors (so they should blend seamlessly). You'll see hairline rings where the boots meet the tights, and if you switch colors of the shorts (the second color) you can see where the color is "bleeding" out of the edges.
I also found this same problem in the Bottoms section under Tights with the following patterns: blend, bikini 2, checker, slash, starburst, stars 1, starshot, stripe 2, and stripe 3.
One footnote: I found the appearance of this glitch to be much more visible on my spare machine with an older GeForce 4600TI video card. When I moved to my main machine with a new vid card I was still able to see the problem, tho it wasn't quite as obvious.
Another problem I found is in Auras. I checked this on females, I don't know if males or huge have the same problem. If you select Tendrils you'll see that both Head and Hair are exactly the same. All other auras have Head as Hair + Eyes.
There are two things I have seen that spring to mind.
First on the uniform jacket - male: Down at the small of the back the univorm V's a little bit. instead of showing the shirt underneat its a cyan colored null type area. Rather small but it irritated my when I first saw it. i've gotten used to it now but would like to see it fixed. ((The back of these costumes is what we are looking at most of the time))
Rock armor clipping issue: My Stone/Stone tank was made as big and musclebound as I could possibly make him. The ston armor does not scale with the size of this guy. I can see bits and pieces of the stone sticking out around his body but it is'nt right.
I apoligize in advance if this second issue isnt part of what you do.
I have noticed that on all of the armor options for the huge body clip with any belt. The huge body armor options also have a gap between the arm and torso where the texture stretches. I noticed that when I6 was released.
It would be nice to have the huge armored options the way they were before I6.
Jay is sexy, and I'm not a guy.
So.
Everyone has a problem with the Generic Pants nowadays not accepting two patterns. It looks awful with just one stretched pattern, blah blah. That isn't all it has wrong. It gives folk Magical Giant Thighs which I at least find very ugly. I think the mesh is a little stretched.
http://culex.us/ig/0thigh1.jpg -- Old style.
http://culex.us/ig/0thigh2.jpg -- New style.
I always put my chest slider to minimum on all characters I play bar about 3, but this makes jackets and stuff go funky with a lot of animations. (Also chest patterns...without being at medium to high boobage, the patterns sink under the chest with jackets on.) Not a huge deal, personally, but maybe you could find a way to make the jackets stretch too or something with the slider.
http://culex.us/ig/0chest2.jpg -- My controller laments.
Dwarf Kheldians have a problem when animating emotes and some powers, like being Group Flown. One finger sticks out like they are from posh English society, or one finger tucks in. Just an unbending part of the bones I guess. Still looks funky. (Warwolves that are summoned from that temp power also stick their finger out when Group Flown, so it should be a bone problem?) Not technically a costume, but, well, I want to try.
http://culex.us/ig/0finger.jpg -- She really isn't giving you the bird, she just can't do that Girl Scout finger salute.
Females have a neat Tights/Gloves option, Small Padded Glove, but each hand is an entirely different glove. By design? Beats me. Ian is also sexy if these get made into the same glove on both hands, but use the right hand's glove with the big block on it. They already get the left hand's glove in another glove pattern, almost identically. Plus, only the right hand is really padded.
http://culex.us/ig/0glove1.jpg -- The right hand.
http://culex.us/ig/0glove2.jpg -- The left hand.
Guys and presumably huges have 2 issues with the Styled Headband hair. One, when jumping and possibly other stances where they lean forward, the headband pops under the back of the skull. Two, the dangly parts are several square bits of geometry, but they aren't connected right. It has the appeal of, well, you know when you order fajitas or brisket, and if you pull opposite ends of the meat it stretches out with little gaps due to the marbleized fat? Yeah.
http://culex.us/ig/0band1.jpg -- The band is sticking through.
http://culex.us/ig/0band2.jpg -- I do not want fajitas as headwear.
The necks on Critter heads are grossly swollen. So do Helmeted options, if your character is Flying.
http://culex.us/ig/0neck1.jpg -- If you tucked the front part of the neck back to where the open part of the mouth ended, that'd be swell. (Also note that the bottom jaw is longer than the top. Real doggies have a longer top jaw. Plus, if you could stretch out the tip of the top jaw, so the nose was not all squashed, I'd be in heaven. See http://www.txdovehunt.com/CAMOhDSHOT2B.jpg if that picture works.)

On Male/Jackets/Tuxedo, and pretty much any Female jacket with Lapels, Chest Emblem is half on the Lapel and half on the Jacket. Chest slider doesn't really seem to affect this at all.
On Female/Shirts the chest emblem is really high up, practically on the shoulder. Again, chest slider doesnt affect this either.
As many others have mentioned, really do miss the ability to have 2 patterns on male pants, plus the patterns are stretched and distorted some on the current pants.
Some patterns get distorted rather unkindly on the Thigh-High boots, particularly "Fade Line".
Under Male > Heads > Hats
a few patches ago the cloth with chains/barbed wire dissapeared. Jay is sexy.
If you make a Huge character, then make him as short as possible and set the sliders all the way to the max, except the legs which are all the way down, put a suit on the character.
My character's purple suit clips VERY badly. The shoulders and arms are the most problematic places. Maybe coloring the (white?) undershirt that seems to show purple would make the issue a little less noticable at least.
Another issue is the neck chain clips with my MM's bandana on the side.
Oh, and the 'Remove SG Emblem' option seems to have disappeared. The character I saw this on is wearing on open labcoat with a bare chest.

Female Top with Skin Metal Chest
The female top w/ skin metal chest option is mismatching the metal texture from the back to the front. It's not meeting evenly at the sides.
Also the demon ears are clipping a bit on the left ear with dreadlocks (female and male).
Thanks!
PS - Jay and Ian are too sexy for their shirts.. drop dead sexy, in fact.
PSS - I'm not sure if this is a bug or request since it could be an oversight or intentional but females don't have skulls as a half mantel brooch option where males do. Would like skulls please.

Hi Jay. I've noticed that since I7 my aura seems out of place on my hero. I'm using Fiery: Fiery Eyes. The effect seems to have been moved further back into the head. This is in combination with the Full Helmets: Chitin Helm.
Previously the aura seemed to eminate from the eyes, but now it appears as if it's coming from the temples.
I don't have any before screenshots yet but I might have some on my other computer. Here's the current look: Aura 1. I've also noticed that it looks a bit different at the tailor then at in-game: Aura 2.
Hopefully you can see how the aura seemingly eminates from the temples. Unfortunately it's hard to show in screenshots
Thanks Jay and all the ladies tell me that you are in fact, quite sexy.
Hi Jay!
A bug with the Female->Gloves->Sleeves option has existed since release:
The inside of the left sleeve uses the skin color.
Jay is sexy.

Werewolf faces. Please shrink down the canines in the teeth row. They are big like X-Box. They scare me like ankle-biting clown demons under my bed. For the love of Mike, make them about half their size so the wolf heads look more wolfy.
Couple of issues with the male toga:
First one, when you wear a cape with the toga, the mantle floats over the right shoulder. Presumably this is because it rests on the left shoulder (where there is cloth.) (Screenshot)
The second is more annoying. If you zone with the toga and a cape on, the cape becomes detached from the mantle. (Screenshot) This can be fixed by switching from that costume to another and back again, however.
First, Jay needs his own Red Name so he can respond here!!!

That out of the way,
Villain Costume problems:
1. Bio-organic- Its only one hued with not secondary hue for the veined parts of the the costume. This is in all sections except for some head categories (forget which atm as Im not on the screen.) All other body parts are only single hued.... unlike their hero counterparts.
2. Monsterous leg sets the body ratio with the lower (boot) section and the upper leg sections--- Unbalanced. The joint section is below the knee instead of being the knee. This gives a disproportioned look to the character (double jointed looking as well).
3. Monsterous lower body robotic- Only one huded for the plate parts of it and not the skeleton parts. Huing for that would be appropriate.
4. Robotic claw (gloves)- One hue only as well for theplate part and not the skeletal.
5. Bot crey Torso- Body part not available across the board for all Upper body appropriate sections.
6. Upper leg section and torso- No skeletal robotic on any selection makes a skeletal robotic creation limited.
7. Male Huge Body Type Horns: Morbid horns not available in selection.
8. Lower body tucked in : Malaise pant choice on heroes not available on villains.
Thats it for now.
