Well I went to the Wizard World Con over in Arlington, Texas and they gave out shirts for CoX and CoV. I don't see why they didn't just stick to those instead of causing something we all know would cause a nuclear flamewar...
And honestly, I'd rather have a PPD hardsuit costume as clothing fades over time. -
Not to forget the fact that the trials in the game are often harder than the States TF.
The Eden trial is rarely ever a cakewalk, especially since the GDN and ED were installed. Why even bother offering an SO when that is no way a proper reward for that thing? (Though personally the Quartermain TF ought to give a SHOE.... but that is a different story)
I really wish the devs would go and look back at the trials, and maybe add another. I feel they are some of the best content in the game due to the difficulty and unique story in well made levels. Too bad the level range to start is so small, and many of the new players aren't even aware they exist. -
Bring back souveneirs. I'd really like to know what the heck the tf was even about and meant at the end...

Not trying to act superior nor am I upset, just saying that you came in with all the *you* comments and choosing words to try to start arguments which from my view you clearly are trying to do. Don't wanna deal with it then please don't bring it up in the first place, jeezum crow. *eyeroll*
Anyhoo, back on topic hopefully with the regularly scheduled upset blaster community! Woot! -
See what? All I see is:
You come in saying not to talk about something
You then proceed to talk about it
You leave catty remarks of your opinion
You get a reply of why I felt your catty opinions arent all that great.
You then give a veiled claim of victory for getting a reply supposedly proving your point.
You know, that is like screaming Only idiots punch people!, followed with a fist to someones gut, and then saying how you were right when they smack ya back .
Not a very good way to try to prove a point I have to say. Next time you want to say not to bring up a topic, please refrain from odd circular logic and hypocrisy in your own statements. We have a valid reason for feeling the way we do. If you dont want to argue about it, then why did you argue in the first place? -
[ QUOTE ]
Really, mate, there is no point in arguing this, it will just generate unstoppable flames. *You* know it was a mistake. *You* know they're not saying "meh, *****'em".... *you* know it's a business and they want to please as many customers as possible.
[/ QUOTE ]
The devs don't always go with what pleases the most people. This is why we have GDN and ED. As a business, keeping customers is nice, but never the bottom line. It is about doing what is best for your company and product first. This keeps shareholders and investors happy. Then you work on managing customers to find what balance gets your the best return. Since *YOU* know you can't please all of the people all of the time, some clients you have to brush off. It is good business, even if it is bad PR for a minor section of your consumer base. Take a basic business course, it'll help.
The devs did make a mistake when they called it gadgets. However, many of us feel this is very indicitave that /devices = not their concern as they have so little dealing with us they get the name wrong.
Anyways, this annual redname post only further shows that the development team may be reading the boards, but in no way paying attention or putting priorities where they belong. Major issues (some of which like Auto turret sucking have been around since BETA) need to be tackled, but instead they worry about pushing small tweaks through all of their time and never get around to the big problems. Sure, it doesn't affect the bottom line as most people refuse to play /devices except for a challenge anymore. However, it still needs their undivided attention and not some stupid glance over a power. The devs have failed the blaster community so far, and no wonder it is more of a City of Scrappers nowadays.
If I saw one written out post by a redname which took them more than one second between Dom fixes and involved more than vague info as to why they feel AR/Dev should be left in the state as is, I'd die a happy player. -
I like _Castle_, however this post isnt going to win me over or make me hop on the Yay Devs! bandwagon that everyone seems like they want back on.
Last time a dev (Geko) said they were even looking into /Devices, we received no further notice of anything being decided. Over a year later, the power in question gets a nerf.
The boards actively say AR/Dev needs the most love, and Defiance is a PoS. Where is the love going? Fire/Fire? I dont think I have seen many blasters say Fire/ was lacking anywhere (especially on the resistances issue AR and Arrow get ), and I have the feeling if /Fire wasnt shared by tankers it wouldnt be looked at either. Overall, the general consensus of the forum doesnt seem to be the focus here. Sure /Devices is getting a minor tweak. Nothing major like it needs.
I have a feeling they are removing the stealth suppression from smoke grenade as this minor tweak. If so, it isnt a tweak IMHO, but a **** bug fix a year too late and the power will still be fairly trivial to take.
Is SG going to get anything to make it on par with flash arrow even?
Is web grenade going to ever be anything other than damageless chilblain?
Will Cloaking get at least something other than laughably low supressable defense? -
Taser be anything other than a slightly better stun with less range than my origin one?
Trip mines refusing to go off be fixed?
Targeting drone get a bonus as you reduced the SO schedule it took?
Any of the AR/Dev lack of Buildup and Aim to be addressed?
Auto turret going to ever be looked at as it is one of the worst powers in the game, and especially for our final 38+ only power?
Answer to those is a likely no, and all would be more than a minor tweak. Im not holding my breath on seeing this tweak or going to change my feelings the devs really dont get blasters at all as this further shows they dont. When we say we need Chinese take-out and you bring us the hubcap of a 67 Studebaker with a grain of rice under it .
Oh, and I really bet when devs up blaster range on novas, they still will ignore the fact Full Auto has nothing to make up for having a much smaller target cap or overly long rooting or which RoA kicks its butt in every aspect for the same recharge rate. -
I've glanced through a lot of these and have to ask why costumes were being compared to bases? They aren't very similar, but if trying to force a comparison:
Bases aren't liked as: They cost too much, less see them, require a lot of work, require skill on top of that work, require player effort to their own detriment, are lacking info, don't give to solo players, if utilized to their fullest require pvp and possible loss of goods, and lastly require META-GAMING.
On price issues, people care little on costumes as we don't get free base tokens every week. If the SG had 20+ tokens to redo everything in it for free or skip rent of everyone's work for a week to be flushed, I'd complain less. So I will go ahead and put my /signed on the others saying bases/rent are too pricey.
Bases are work. Costumes aren't. I had someone drool over my nice base design, but when I answered how long it took with 8+ hours he didn't want one as badly anymore. To make a great looking base you have to make sure your rooms can fit, make sure to plan ahead for expanding the base or else you may have to redo rooms, can't let corners touch, have the funds, have the salvage, set appearances, manage power and control, learn object placement, have IRL design skill, etc. Oh and did I mention most crafting is done blindly so you have no idea if that Scrying Painting is worth it til it is too late? Costumes you can press random and be set.
The prestige/influence ratio and salvage drops are lousy. Losing 100% influence when people want SOs makes them not play in SG mode. The fact my long time alt with 53 million and 1000ish play hours could cash it in for 53k and not even afford a room is bad. If it were a 50/50 max, I'm sure most would be willing to go in SG mode. Also, with twenty or so active people in my SG, we don't have enough salvage to make much. Ooh, spend the entire salvage rack for one improved chill cannon! Um, no.
Bases have the CoP trial which sounds and looks nice. However, to utilize it means your SG has to be willing to pvp. I'm doing good to find ten people from all SGs in pvp zones at any time. CoX players do not love to pvp by large, and at the risk of losing a 1.5 mil base computer, they aren't going to be happy to utilize the base to its fullest. If it were having one IoP freely, but 2+ = raidable, then you'd see a lot happier people and more base love.
Lastly bases= META-GAMING. Building and working a base means that person is not playing while they do so. Your SG is having a blast, and you have to sit on your butt picking floor tile? Then you have to decide who is willing to do this task, who can be trusted with salvage, etc. I wouldn't expect many to jump on the bandwagon to play with a game outside of the game to play the game. -
On those saying corr have it so much worse with the 75% of our base ranged, I call shenangians. Every corruptor set comes with -resist and/or -defense which put their base damage at our level if not higher. Along with that they get debuffs, buffs, heals, defense, etc. Even /traps which is similar to /devices has defensive powers and acid mortar. Then corruptors get scourge which adds a sweet chunk of damage, and kicks butt on AV fights.
The only difference is that they do not all have Aim+Buildup, which is what all blasters but /devices (and the topic of this discussion) get. Also, we aren't all about burst damage. Play an AR/Dev, which is more about laying on AoE and sustained DoT than anything else. -

Doms who complain about no dev love get a buff to their inherent which makes them better for everything but the LRSF.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would have to say that's a great buff. Not sure how it stacks, but Domination should be able to build hella fast in a 7 man team.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even though I don't play my dom a whole lot, I'm already able to keep in domination mode most of the time. I'm betting I can stay in double dom mode all the time with a good /rad or /kin now! -

One year ago Geko says he's looking into auto turret to see if it needs love, and after his long searching, it sounds like it is getting nerfed.
Then we get called "Gadgets"...
Are they trying to smack us down, or just raise our desperation, er Defiance meter? Hmmm..... -
From the interview: Im not too worried about the bounds aspect. I am worried about players mistakenly, or unknowingly, bypassing content.
So, two questions:
Will we be getting flashback then?
If there was genuine concern for players unknowingly missing content, why is the current method of pre-I2 heroes getting Isolator not only involve pvp zones with a near impossibility of casual players acheiving it, but the populace feels was a sadistic joke of "Well, you said you'd do 'anything' so we're having fun making you slave in the most un-player friendly childish way possible!" ??!? -

He has 5 debt badges-- but is less than half-way on the fourth damage taken badge. Although I have concentrated on villains since CoV came out, he hit 50 more than 16 months ago and spent plenty of time taking damage at level 50.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds like my AR/Dev blaster I have. I have used her a fair bit and still pull her out about an hour a week since she hit 50 over a year ago. She doesn't have the fourth either, and I won't expect to see that one til perhaps the end of the year if I don't farm.
It was sad finding I-2 Dreck farmers who were only about 1/5th to Nigh as well. Heroes have also had over a year longer than villains to accumlate damage, and I'd feel safe to say less than 1% of them have Nigh.
The amount of villains with improvement accolades is incredibly small, as few others than the heavy badge hunters have any to show yet. I have to add my urge here too for the devs to change the requirement. -

Got to see my first (and hopefully not last) instance of double dom.
The team I was on blew up a piece of lab equipment and received hasten. Next, one.... more hasten! The plant/ice dom with us clicked her own hasten. Three hastens and a full dom bar...... It was so beautiful. I swear it almost seemed like eight minutes before they finally lost all their domination bar. The damage was crazy good, and I just quit fighting so I could watch them go nuts.
I think it'll take a solid three months til brute SMASH seems good to me again. >.< -
Wait, a redname has posted to the dom boards and there isn't a crazy fiesta yet? Slackers!
-
This isn't an actual bug, but so ranks up with a sweaty Mr. T in a ballerina costume sipping tea with Martha Stewart while dancing the Charleston in the "unpleasant to look at" category I thought I'd poke it in here.
Werewolf faces. Please shrink down the canines in the teeth row. They are big like X-Box. They scare me like ankle-biting clown demons under my bed. For the love of Mike, make them about half their size so the wolf heads look more wolfy. -

Try looking at it this way... two masterminds and a dominator went up against a blaster, a controller, and a tank. After a long fight, and despite a dark scrapper rushing in to help and fleeing the battle, they successfully wiped them out to the man, suffering only the loss of the dominator.
Say it that way and it seems like masterminds are the problem, not the tank.
[/ QUOTE ]
No no no. More of two MM, a dom, two heavies which should equal more than a character using Statesman's rules. Without the heavies, us with the dom vs. just the blaster and controller would've been somewhat in our favor. It is beyond noticable they are a pale comparison to what melee ATs can accomplish in pvp.
Yes tanks are meant to take damage. But to call several minutes of our attacking with the heavies and pets, to their being able to three shot or less had we stopped to do something other than run in circles Benny Hill style "a fair match" is ludicrous.
MM aren't the problem, as we ran like crazy. Without the heavy assistance (which only two villains at a time in RV can have if heroes do not stop them) then we surely would have blasted the night away til he closed in and laid the laws of pvp on our faces.
As far as other comments from another poster dwindling down to a "nyaa! you be not fitty yet, so y00 can't comment til you are! n00b!" I call shenanigans. It is very apparent the descrepancy as many have described in the RV test and boards. What will my PPP have for 41-50 that will make so "ubar-133t!!11 " for you that I can take on a melee-AT? An immob they resist, hold they resist, damage power that would hold me in place where they could get 1-2 hits in before I run unless stunned by EM, and a weak shield which pales to their HP+def. To say those powers would magically stop a tank is bogus and you should know much better. :P
Point is: One AT dies in 2-3 hits of another AT. The other AT which can kill them in 2-3 hits, can take 100+ shots at by four other villains (two of which are purple con elite bosses to them) and more often than not live to tell the tale. Yes they are built for punishment, but they deliver it too and take too much punishment in pvp. For the amounts of both att/def/hp they get vs other ATs, something is off balance. Rocket science isn't needed to see such. -
After testing I7 a bit and playing on live with it, I'm going to have to say I am for toggles being droppable a fair bit. In RV, the squishier ATs were the normal challenge they always were. They could attack for a chunk of life as could I. We'd go back and forth til one got in a string of good hits, or someone ran out of insps.
Against Tanks/most Scrappers (and Im sure Brutes for heroes), the guys were near unkillable without toggle drops. One point, we had two masterminds and a dom fighting a tank by himself. Both of us MM had the purple elite boss heavies as well. The blaster and controller dropped under concentrated fire fairly quick, and a passing dark scrapper even had a nice chunk of life taken out before he fled. The SS/invuln tank... He three shotted the dom, hit me for half my life with a rage filled smashing and luckily didn't see me pop a BF to avoid EM stunning to slip into PFF for a second. Over three minutes later of attacking with him chasing us literally in a big circle disregarding force bubble 100%, he finally clicked his tier 9 power, and decided to go for our pets. He smacked them up good, though we had recharged fully to respawn more pets by then. Right before his unstoppable ran out, he booked it with us chasing, and almost got away before it gave out and faceplanted.
So when as a player I see him three shot a dom and almost two shot myself, then take over three minutes of sustained retaliation to almost get away scot free (he would've if he took teleport) I cannot understand how detoggling is a problem. Even moreso as I have more damage than a dom who they have insanely high mez protect against...
Yes I am sure it is annoying to reclick a few powers, but those toggles are up a lot more than most squishy lifebars. For having great damage output the survivability right now is too darned crazy good from my experience. -
I have to agree with the others in saying I love the Night Widows more than most anything in the game. It is one enemy the devs got right, as it does something other than ye olde basic attack. It functions like every KoA should, though I do say I would love to see them get either caltrops or trip mines as well. It would be nice running up at one and landing into a faceful of C4 for a nice surprise.
-
Tried out my AR/Dev in pvp and do have one positive comment. At least I can help spotting stalkers when there isn't a /regen or empath around... Killing things other than corruptors has gotten more difficult. Much more difficult. I thought some scrapper/tank/brute types were already requiring 3+ opponents to take down with toggle dropping as is, and honestly without caltropping for safety while laying ten trip mines do I see AR/Dev taking out a non-squishy without the hand of god poking doom and sprinkling lucky cats around.
On a good note, my MA stalker and an EM brute did manage to take down an Invuln/SS tank. Took ten minutes and he had us to a sliver of life after our inspirations were all used, but yes he died. Surprised he didn't complain death detoggled him hehe. -
Also I would like to see disruption arrow count as a field of interrupt. Right now it doesn't follow the 'disrupt' of its own name.
-
I don't mind Contaminated being in a pvp zone, however the people who've popped up saying how much fun they are going to have frustrating others by killing them just to be a pain makes me wish they would change it do a different zone. Anything which breeds players acting like 12 year olds on WoW with nothing to do other than make people upset for their own enjoyment is not a positive game change. Killing them out of curiosity is one thing and I have no qualm with if someone were to, but doing it to ruin CoX and gloating is shameful.
-
Bodyguard sounds nice and I will love seeing it as it will be a great buff to the AT. However in my opinion it does not cure the major MM issue for pvp. Summoning pets and upgrading will still take a long time that no other AT has to endure. Being one/two shotted is annoying, but defenders and controller players get over it the same way others do; the ability to run back out and hop into the fray having a good time. If MM pets were to auto spawn, I feel there would have been no need for this buff that half-fixes the issue. Living a tidbit longer means less times to summon, but the MM still faces the same thing entering and rezzing as they were griping about. Naughty stool for two minutes before you can join.

From what I read, it feels the underlying reason they are going to be locked in is the development team is going for something different than CoH, trying to get an involved storyline for the endgame, and keeping to their mantra of one character not always being able to see all the content.
People fuss that CoV is too similar, and now they fuss if it has something otherwise. Personally I love the thought of respecable epic pools for each villain class, but I can also live with having something different giving me the endgame content CoH is sorely lacking. In CoH, you hit 39+ and are left with the awful heck of finding a Sewer/Eden trial or doing the same dang Praetorian and Carnie arcs every other schmuck is also doing. Who in their right mind would complain if there were things in PI broadcasted other than "Infernal AV team", "MoM need hlp plz!", and "Anyone got the hydra badge mish?!" that we all heard time and time again.... Oh the monotony.
Not to forget heroes barely have any arcs learning about the major characters in-game. Sure Indigo can tell you to read between the billions of her text lines, but who are Mynx, Numina, or States? If you don't read the comic, you'd find States is just flavor spackle at the end of a mission who has a grudge from hell against lava. Big whoop. Let me at least find out why he hates that lava, if he is addicted to Boo Berry, just something; anything really to give me some depth. Is fleshing out the main villains and making characters seem to be a part of Arachnos by choosing factions bad?
Lastly, on respecs. Most MMOs do not give those. CoX is like getting to rip open a pinata with my face and have all the sweet candy I want. I screw up and can respec at 24, 34, 44, when they do an Issue, when something goes crazy, Cuppa had some Mountain Blue Java and sweet talked devs, etc. Even messed up characters are still fairly playable to boot! Once I hit mid-30s my brain should let me know what is and isn't viable and how to play my character. If I'm 40+ and can't rationale if something is a good power choice by then or ask (doubly if I have alts and experience) then...... um..... yikes... Not like other players won't post all the numbers in one to two days for yet even more informed choices.
I may not be 100% happy with their decisions, but the devs aren't here to do just what *I* want.
