Toggle drops changes

I guess we won't see PvP toggle drop changes - at least with issue 7. I'm actually pretty surprised. Thought they were going to be in there for sure.

I didn't see the note for casts (such as burn and rain powers) being buffable now, so maybe they both just got left off. Of course, I still have a 51 hour download to go, so I can't test either.

Yeah I asked about this in another board, but I thought these were going away. Did they say anything about the the no more one shot thing in the test I forgot to look.

I think this should've been a priority. Not because I'm a villain at heart but because alot of people came to CoV without playing CoH with the intent of pvp. But they get so thrashed in pvp that they are hold out for this change to fix some things. If this isn't it many are likely to be disillusioned and leave after they get to 50.

It is in the patch notes now...very sorry about that:

"All player powers with Forced Toggle Drop effects have had the chance for those effects to go off reduced. The need for these effects is greatly reduced with the advent of Enhancement Diversification. No player power has a 100% chance of dropping toggles with this change."

hey cricket: as lame as it is to have to explain- can you please put a parenthetical blurb that this does not refer to powers that toggle drop as a result of their PRIMARY effect (hold/disorient/stun/sleep powers -) in other words: "control" powers, but powers that contain toggle dropping as a SECONDARY effect (like brawl, charged brawl, etc)?
Thanks.
Some people are crying that the sky is falling and this is one of the reasons.
A little clarification would be nice to throw at them.

Can we get some numbers?

Thanks very much Cricket. Not to sound ungrateful or anything, but is there a chance the notes can reflect new percentages.

Here is a complete list of all powers which have DropToggles associated with them and the percentage chance of the attribute taking place. In the case of powers which have a chance of dropping 2 toggles, I calculated the chance for this to happen and included it in the list.

Note: Blaster, Corruptor and Mastermind Trip Mines have drastically different percentages. I think this is a Bug -- I think the Corruptor/MM version was skipped when making these changes, or Trip Mine for Villains was increased, and Blasters were skipped. Either way, I'll be making changes to the chances for that in a future update.

are you sure that is all of the powers castle? doesn't total focus for blasters toggle drop as well?

also what about posion gas trap for Masterminds. if i sit in there for more than a couple seconds all my toggles drop currently on live, or is that something else?

Posted

That's great to know! Thanks!

Posted

Total Focus does not have a DropToggles attribute. It does have a Disorient, and that can drop toggles.

Thanks _Castle_ for posting the numbers.

Wow. What a jaw dropping change. I never imagined it would go this far. I'll have to copy/test my ice/en blapper. Obviously, the squishies get no benefit from this, but fighting brutes tended to be a very evenly matched fight before, and I think I'm in real trouble now. *sigh*

Upon reflection, these numbers are going to take a lot of fights firmly into the predetermined stalemate category. Two Melee types could conceivably wail on one another for minutes with little progress, whereas in I6, at least the toggle drop effect of Brawl happened often enough to change things up by allowing a mez to get through or something like that.

This is completely ridiculous by the way. It's *so* hard to hit someone with a time bomb, it's unbelievable. If they detonate when a trip mine sitting next to them blows, then I could see them being at 22% with the others, but as it is, they should do 100% drops still. Out of every 20 time bombs I set, I'm lucky if one hits.

-edit-

Nevermind. This will certainly make me toss Brawl back into my attack cycle and think twice before wading into melee against a Scrapper or a Tank.

I'm more surprised only one Mastermind pet had toggle dropping abilities... evem if it was on par to brawl in the past.

1) Time Bomb does about as much damage as Inferno.
2) There is a reason why no one takes Time Bomb for PvP/never uses it in PvP... it's gimp.

Currently roleplaying, badgehunting, and laughing at the PvPers of CoX. lol, PvP.
