...And also, this thread should totally be renamed "What to do when not playing with CoX."

Eh, don't really care one way or the other about AA. The whole buy into TR beta trick just feels like a cheap tactic.

Yeah, but that was only for the first 200 people to buy a subscription. Unless there is a new promotion I don't know about.

Nope. It just really struck me as bribery at the time...
Meh, I'll live. Now get rid of that dust crap. It's playing havoc with my sinuses.

Thats not Amnesia dust. That is baby powder from a bottle of baby powder, with the word baby powder crossed out and amnesia powder written in crayon...and amnesia is spelled wrong.
Where did you get that? Uncle Bob?

I listened to SI Radio the last time you guys told me to. You know what they say, "Fool me once..."
Has take care of a baby dove blown out of it's nest and mauled by cats been said yet? It's what I've been doing the last three hours, waiting for the woman at teh rescue center to call back.
My first short story (detective fiction) came out in Jan-2012. Other stories and books to follow, I hope. Because of "real writing". COH was a big part of that happening.
Pick up a copy of The Silmarillion.
Read it.
Throw the book across the room in frustration.
Pout.

Catch bugs to feed the baby dove. Make a nice warm nest out of scraps and rags that you have around the house. Catch some more bugs, cause it's hungry again. If you're out of bugs, milk-soaked bread will do in a pinch for feeding baby doves.
My to-do list...
Sweep the floor.
Move furniture.
Change the baby.
Sweep under furniture.
Have a Hardcore Cider.
Mop under furniture.
Move furniture back.
Feed the baby.
Mop the rest of the floor.
Have another Hardcore Cider.
Move the fridge...You get the idea.
Check the server status.

Knew we would - CoH/V is awesome, community-wise. No death threats to the devs like WoW.
I must admit though, the storyline award sort of shocked me, despite m liking of the story. Though hopefully with the zone updates, there will be a more complete and expanding storyline.

Yeah, you're so not kidding about the WoW thing >.< I couldn't count how many times people were told they should 'commit suicide because you're useless' for not picking specific builds...

You'll notice the awards were for Community, Newb Experience, and storylines. But I've heard no mention of awards for good programming decisions .. aka the lovely lets make AV's and GM's all but unbeatable decision. Of course I may be beating a dead horse here. But if that's what it takes to improve testing and quality control, well .. time to whack away.
Actually what it takes is cash money. If we all poney up $25/month they can hire more people to fix more bugs.
But anyway....
AnotherDeadHero, you forgot to mention DEMOS!!!

Best Community? In game? Maybe. The forums? You'd have to be kidding. If that's the case then I do not want to go anywhere near their forums. The community here for the most part, with a few exceptions here or there, seems to do nothing but urinate all over the developers efforts. Anyone who either agrees with the developers decisions, or those who don't but understand the decisions and why the developers had to take the path they did will get treated as being less than human. Those that don't understand seem to think that there is some big conspiracy where the developers hate the players and are trying to destroy their own game.
Meanwhile I have seen many players continuously exploit flaws and imbalances in the game that had yet to be addressed. They think this is an acceptable way to play. More power. More damage. More expereince. More prestige. More enhancements. More rewards. To hell with the risk. Take the easy way. Screw the story. Lets just farm this mission because it gives better expereince than the last one. Lets herd these enemies and take them out with an alpha strike and a quick mop up. Everything has to be a fast paced rush to the endgame, except there is no endgame.
Then when they get bored because they killed their own fun they blame the developers for making the game boring. They can't accept the responsibility that they are to blame for their own lack of enjoyment. It's bad enough that they do this to their own fun, but they drag others into it as well. People love to run with the idea that people should be able to play however they want to as it isn't hurting anyone else. Except that only works in complete isolation. Things get complicated in an environment such as the one players are immersed in when playing a massively multiplayer game.
Of course, none of this insight means anything because anything that falls outside of their narrow point of view is rejected or ignored. They'll come up with every insane theory in the book to discredit you and score some illusionary points for themselves. They can't seem to evolve past the primitive concept that rather than better themselves they seem to think it's easier to tear everything around them down to their level.
This is a game about super heroes and yet the only word they seem to want to see is super, because they sure aren't acting like heroes. I'm thankful for those few rare gems here that seem to be able to keep their cool and act reasonably throughout all of the upheavals that plague these forums every time anything happens with the game.
I'm tempted to think that the problems with this game aren't with the game so much as they are with the dregs of the community, those in game and especially those in the forums.
