That's actually the in-game location for the Technocratic Union's supergroup base.
  2. It's not over. It's not over at all. They didn't need to say anything at all. This is business-speak for "You're scaring us, please go away now."

They staggered. HIT HARDER. Send more letters. Use social media. Reach every contact you can think of. HIT. HARDER.

    Stay polite. Stay reasonable.

Keep the PR, the *negative* PR, coming. We're the heroes. Act like a hero - Be professional, polite, and reasonable.

Let NCSoft keep digging. They're in a hole now. They have two choices...dig deeper, and become #mmokiller, or back up. Give them a way to backtrack and make themselves look better while doing so.

    BE INSISTENT.

    This is not the end.

    It's Over

    It's not over.

    They staggered. HIT HARDER.

To quote Larry Dixon (Yes, that's Mercedes Lackey's husband, they've both been in on the fight since day 1):

Larry Dixon: *shrug* It's as "real" as anything else NCsoft says or does. That'll flip if they want it to. What it *is* is an admission that they've noticed enough to respond to it "on company letterhead." Its face value is meaningless.

The REAL takeaway from this is "Hey this is starting to hurt, stop it guys!" If the revival efforts meant nothing, NCsoft would not post what amounts to "Elvis has left the building." And that is all that is. They want the negative attention to stop. That is an official attempt at deflection. Or, in political terms, an "Un-Answer."

It appears to be a response but actually accomplishes nothing except silence those who weren't very into it. Like I say, what it says is irrelevant; the thing to take notice of is that it was put there at all. And that means time to step it up because the other fighter just staggered.

If the "Save CoH/We love Paragon" etc. efforts were ineffective, we'd never have seen such a statement. The hidden meaning of that note is that it has dawned on somebody that this is developing into "anti-NCsoft," not "Save-CoH," so they issued a mollifying statement with a lot of buttonpushing feel-warm cozy buttons about how special what they just murdered was to them.

Now they reap the mistrust they sowed, they can see the coverage increase, the caution against them and the players taking their money away in droves, and we can look them steely in the eyes and reply "Too bad. It's just business. Isn't it."

The "exhausted all options" is bizspeak for "We didn't get what we wanted, so we stopped bothering to find solutions." Businesspeople who truly WANT a result ALWAYS find a way, they never "exhaust all options." So right there is an admission from NCsoft that they're very bad businesspeople. Most certainly unimaginative and inflexible.

Shortest form: As a strategist, the hits are being felt by NCsoft, and they've barely begun.

Second message: This is the murderer issuing an official statement that they "really tried hard" not kill what they had a choice about murdering, and hoping that "Oh they loved it like I did, they're really sorry!" should be your takeaway from that and that should make EVERYTHING just fine, right?

I don't take "We loved it too!" as anything but an insult to our intelligence.

Nah, this is a "There, that'll shut'em up" attempt, as if talking to six-year-olds.
  4. That discussion is taking place here:
    http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index....ard,138.0.html

Plan Z is still in the list of options. But we're stubborn. We're not going to admit defeat just yet.

It would imply they were pretending to grant full support to Paragon for new development while they knew such support was false and guaranteed to be unsustainable.

The alternative is "exhausted" means they thought about all the options and decided not to actually engage any of them.
Everything I have heard indicates that your second example is likely the correct one.

This is PR fluff to get us to shut up. Don't fall for and do NOT give up the pressure. It's not yet time to bring the rain...but lock and load. It's two months to server shut down and they're saying this now? When they haven't even acknowledged contact from some investor inquiries?

Uh-uh. Keep the pressure up. We're making them look bad. They want us to give up. Don't.
  6. Look to the Fire/Fire/Fire Blasters for your answer.

We will activate Rise of the Phoenix...it's part of our attack chain.

They ARE being seen. NCSoft has forwarded at least one to Paragon Studios, and I received a reply, a thank you note, and a surprise package. (THANK YOU, whoever sent that package.)

    Keep fighting, people.

AKA, what payment method you use, and what happens to all the information after the transaction, what information is kept, what is thrown out, how long, who keeps this information, who exactly has access to this information, what are protection methods in place to protect said information, and are they a licensed vendor?

These are all dead-serious,, more so than dooms day of the actual earth concerns and in no way or fashion is it somehow trying to troll, offend or anything of the likes. Probably easily make my decision not to buy one if someone got offended over inquiries of buisness practices.
Here's the link to the Call to Action:
    http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index....ic,5022.0.html

And your questions are precisely why I decided to put it up in my Etsy shop. It's an established sales site and payments are made through Paypal, which is a very secure and commonly used payment vendor. You can log into Paypal as a guest, in which case they will not store your information at all.

I have absolutely NO access to any of your information except the email address that you used for payment. I get an email from Paypal telling me that you've made a payment from that email address. Etsy only gives me the information that you give me about your order - no actual financial information is entered into Etsy by the buyer at any point. That's entirely done through Paypal. Paypal also provides significant protection for the buyer if there is any reason for you to feel that I'm not actually making or shipping a cape for you.

You receive a shipping confirmation with a tracking number from Etsy when I ship the package, and I'll send the photograph of your cape to the email address you used for payment, unless you specify another one. Etsy functions somewhat like Ebay, except it's for set-price sales rather than auctions.

Does that help alleviate your concerns?

But I'll always remember to blame Polaron.

You two are on the list of people I don't want to forget. You can find me...so far as I know, I'm the only one who uses this handle online.
  13. This has been a great server to play on. It's been a great community. There's far too many people to thank for me to remember them all...Moggie, Heroid, Ascendant, GadgetDon, Dragonberry, The Cape Radio, the original Gods of the Golden Age, the old Paragon City Police Department, everyone who was ever a member of The Technocratic Union, all of the Pillars of Virtue, all of Hades' Hitmen...WhisperX and her raid groups, RoboKitty and hers...RPVirtue and the many iterations thereof...

Too many people to thank. I know I've missed some, but...I'll be around. I don't know when I'll lose my VIP status - I got it by applying a Going Rogue code to my account. (Thank you, JackNoMind).

If you see a SithRose somewhere...it's probably me. I'll be on the Titan Network forums if these go away. I'll be in Guild Wars 2 as SithRose.5168. I use gmail. You can probably guess my email address, etc, if you want to chat.

On and off, it's been the best game I've played to date. I won't stop hoping for a miracle...but I won't be very visible on these forums anymore. I'll check my messages until the forums go dark.

    Agent Storm
    Sonja Butterfly

    Fertile Mind
    Fate Widow
    Alpine Axe
    Shiva IX

And more...some stories will never be ended. Some will have a happy ending. Some...will end in darkness if it comes.

    I will never leave Virtue.
  14. I still have lots of time to make capes for people and mail them in. Save the Supers!
  15. I will point out that ArenaNet is a separate game developing studio, even though they are owned by NCSoft. I will also point out that many of the ArenaNet developers and staff are long-time City of Heroes players, and that they are just as furious about this as we are...because they ARE part of the community here.

It's a personal choice in the end. Are you mad enough at NCSoft to punish a smaller studio that might suffer precisely the same fate as Paragon Studios? That's up to you. But ArenaNet had absolutely no say in this decision whatsoever. It's like blaming Pixar because a Marvel Studios movie sucked. (Yes, both studios are wholly owned and operated by a larger distributor - Disney.)

Just for the record, I think that's probably a really bad idea and suggestion.
  17. And to further help the folks concerned with postage costs and our friends overseas, I'll happily make your cape and mail it for you. (Refer to my earlier post for details.)

You can order it here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1092389...o-help-savecoh

It's the best way I can help out with this part of the movement.

(If the mods decide to delete the link, it's at the Etsy shop HourglassNights, or do a search on SaveCOH Cape in Etsy.)

You're right! It's amazing how nicely that works out. You'd almost think I planned it that way. (I actually didn't, it's just cost of materials.)
  19. If I offered the services of my sewing shop Hourglass Nights to make child-sized satin capes for $15 + $2.00 shipping, would people want to take advantage of that? I'm US-based, so I would ship them directly to the US offices with your return address on them. If people are interested, I can set up a Save COH Cape on my Etsy shop. (I'd love to be able to make and mail them for free, but fabric costs money. You're basically buying the fabric for me at that price - I normally charge $40 for a kid's satin cape.) I've seen a lot of folks from across the pond wondering about shipping and costs - This might help folks save some money on shipping AND get their capes to NCSoft faster. Feel free to send me a PM if you want - I'll send you a picture of the finished cape and print out any personalized message you want to include in the package as well.

Go to the forums and read about their progress in creating a player run server for CoH, THIS IS COH'S BEST CHANCE.

Coders are needed quickly as there is work to be done that can't be done once the servers are down.
Titan Network is also working on this. Perhaps you could get TonyV in contact with the EU folks so they can work together instead of having multiple people working on the same goals in different groups?

Congrats sir. Tis a lovely time to have an anniversary (mine is tonight).

I'm humbled, and thrilled that we could play some small part in your lives. And as for the game design position; never give up. Keep sending out those resumes and keep trying. I did it for over 5 years and it was worth every minute I spent emailing, going to shows, going to conventions and finding some way, any way, to make it into this industry.
My husband's and my eight year anniversary is...just before November 30th.

I can think of no greater anniversary gift than finding out that COH won't go dark 4 days after our anniversary this year.

I'm sure he would love to have one more guy onboard.
I already posted over there, I'm caught up. I'm just offering to collate player-generated plans to send to them, since they're already discussing all the options. I'm a great editor and a good storyteller. I'm not a game designer and I know jack about coding. I can edit everyone's general suggestions into a coherent plan and save them that much work, though. And this is very much a plan of last resort.
  25. Don't stop trying to save Paragon City.

But accept that failure IS a possibility. Pray for success, fight for success...but have a backup plan for failure. This is my backup plan.

I offer a challenge: Write a synopsis proposal for an MMO that contains every feature of COH that we've come to love, but does not in any way infringe on the IP of City of Heroes. Here's a partial list to start with: Flying combat, travel powers, ability to make any character from any background fit into the on-going story of the MMO seamlessly, 6 basic starting villain-groups, costume generator and character creation, the 1 to 3 (or more) ratio, Giant Monsters, side-kicking, developer communication...Add things that you've always wanted to see. Write it like you're writing a Kickstarter proposal.

We have 3 months. It won't be the same...but maybe we can rebuild from the ashes if we fail.

Please post this on the forums in every server forum. Post it everywhere you can. I'll volunteer to collect the proposals at agenttempest at gmail dot com if they're mailed to me, and I'll send them to Titan Network. (I can't post to server forums, my VIP is lapsed.)
