What you quoted said level 5 not 1 so they were not the only ones exaggerating.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes for City of Heroes. See the following:

[ QUOTE ]
At least in City of Heroes, while you do have to fight the Circle of Thorns all the way from level 5 to level 50, at least they don't make up over half the missions, and all the trials. In City of Villains, though, you fight Longbow in your first mission, you fight them in at least every third mission all the way to level 50, you fight them in every mission in a PvP zone, and you fight them in the cape mission. And who do you fight in at least half of the missions other than the Longbow missions, once you hit Port Oakes and from then on out? The Circle of Thorns, of course.

[/ QUOTE ]

With regard to the following:

[ QUOTE ]
Longbow missions don't really start to overpower everything until Cap Au Diable, but once you hit Nerva that is pretty much all you have, longbow, COT and a couple crey and rikti missions.

[/ QUOTE ]

I am sorry to say, but that is not true from my perspective. I have a level 24 mastermind as well. She is currently making herself known in Sharkhead, and I dont really recall that many Longbow missions in Cap Au Diable either. A few, yes. But nothing overpowering. Regarding zones after Sharkhead I am not able to say anything about that, so I'll have to take your word for it.

[ QUOTE ]
The fact that longbow are the only thing in PVP missions(Yes heroes have only Arachnos but holiday missions and PVP missions is all the heroes have to deal with).

[/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't know. I don't do PvP. So I'll have to take your word for it.

[ QUOTE ]
Longbow and COT are in both respecs, first one dealing with those and a few legacy. Cap Au Diable SF, 1 longbow, 2 COT and 2 legacy missions. Higher levels you have COT or council paper missions or longbow PVP missions. The majority of missions you see are longbow or COT I would say 15+.

[/ QUOTE ]

As mentioned I have a level 24 mastermind. And I would have to disagree that the majority of missions are CoT or Longbow. Actually I would say I have had a fair mix of pretty much everything so far. Except CoT, not nearly enough missions with these guys. As I am of a magic origin with my MM, this is actually my preferred enemy as I am pretty much guaranteed Magic oriented DO and SO drops.

I do not pretend to know everything about this game, I can only speak from my experience. And SOFAR, based on this, the OP is not entirely correct, and quite frankly exaggerating this quite a bit.

Main Hero: Flame Blade (Scrapper lvl 50; Katana/Regeneration)
Main Villain: Elenor Seahawk (Mastermind lvl 44; Necromancy/Poison)

First, Mayhem missions aren't generally at the Portal Corp.

Second, Longbow is one of the groups you might be fighting. There are others.

[/ QUOTE ]

Third. Still sick of seeing Longbow and CoT...

Just saying...

Would like to see Malta operating in CoV, more from the Wyvern, etc. Especially want more good guys to fight. Even the latest info on I7 today makes me feel like I am a hero, or at best a rival gang in a turf war. Mayhem Missions do sound like a step in the right direction, but don't forget from an overall motivation and storyarc perspective we'd like to be VILLAINS not just playing king of the hill.

[/ QUOTE ]
Anything else would be better. I completely ran out of missions/contacts on my brute a half level from 40 (not quite enough content, but that's another issue). So I had three choices:
<ul type="square">[*]Hunt in St Martial - and compete with the MMs for the freaks on the hill[*]Defeat longbows in Warburg[*]Newspaper missions.... which by this time only give CoT, Council, and Sky Raiders. More than 30 different villain groups, and those are the only choices.[/list]

Heck... bring back the Luddites and Legacy Chain for 40-50! They both had some cool powers that set them apart, and got phased out way too early.

[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. The Legacy vanishes too early (outside of the occasional level 20 newspaper mission). I thought these guys were deep into magic?

[ QUOTE ]
Heck, add in the Hero Corps, they're established already, why not use them in the Rogue Isles

[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Since all Hero Corps. personal are super powered, instead of a map having a bunch of them as minions and Lts, fill a standard mission map with security guards (better equipped perhaps than the bank guards) who hired a couple of Hero Corps. people to bolster their power (boss level?).

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]
Since the Malta group is trying to pull the strings and keep heroes in check, shouldn't they also be concerned about too many super powered villains as well?

[ QUOTE ]
Portal Corps police

[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Since they have advanced tech, give it to them. The security guards should be wearing body armor over their uniforms. Give them some Rikti-style weapons as well (access to other dimensions should have it's privledges). Also, some boss level type heroes who are "on call" to protect one of the city's greatest assets.

Army. It was mentioned in a post above. Sure, why not? We see them duking it out in the Rikti Crashsite. There are some places that normal security is too little. Military bases, labs, research facilities, ect. Marines armed to the teeth (machine guns, heavy machine guns, rocket launchers like the old 5th column), humvees with heavy machine guns, tanks as bosses that fire both machine guns and armor piercing shells, apache gunships, army special forces... Yes. I can see clearly now... Imagine some research from the bottom of the sea being brought back to the mainland by a Navy destroyer...

And the same people who made it so just about every other mission from 10 to 40 in CoV is either Longbow, Circle of Thorns, or both.

[/ QUOTE ]
Really? My villains seem to spend a disproportionate amount of time fighting Arachnos mobs, with whom they are supposed to be allied, in theory. Longbow doesn't seem to show up any more than Wyvern or Legacy Chain, and quite a bit more than Thorns.

I want to fight cops, damn it, not spandex-clad retards.

What's with all the cop hate? Cops are awesome, and they make perfect mooks.

I like leets...

Otherwise, I rather agree. The decision to not spend the money on separate CoH and CoV teams, to have at least the key people just double up, has had a big negative effect on both games.

Can we really believe that the Devs went to the trouble of coding new cops for CoH that would actively fight villains in Atlas Park and similar places, and yet somehow neglected to put them in the Mayhem Missions for CoV?

I can be on a team that does a dozen missions without one death and then take a cot mission and have three team wipes. CoT pretty much suck.

Had a cot mission the other day that lasted like an hour. I was missing so much--from all those horrible stacked -acc debuffs--that I actually timed how long I went without hitting something. The final tally? Two minutes and 34 seconds. Yep, two and a half minutes of wiffage. And yes, my brute was attacking the whole time. We finally finished the mission with only one team wipe (which, sadly, wasn't bad). I'm pretty sure that mission made me sterile.

Outside of the assumptions about what Mayhem Missions will be like based on one screenshot, the irony here is that fighting the same foes from level 1 to level 50 was designed into the game from the very start. "We don't want to start out a player by giving them a stick and a wooden shield and sending them out to kill rats," was a common refrain back when the game was being designed. "We want you to start out feeling like a SUPERHERO. So we give you villains to beat and crimes to stop right from the very beginning."

As living proof that people will find a way to complain about anything, then, we have this thread. Apparently since the devs didn't want you to start with rats and work your way up to monsters, then in CoH EVERYTHING is a rat. Instead of everything being a monster. I suppose it's all in the way you look at it.

Of course, I can understand people getting tired of individual villain groups, but that's why there are other villain groups. I just find it amusing that something that was originally concieved as being a positive for players new to MMOs is so obviously being considered negative by a long time player of other MMOs.

What World of Warcraft Would Be Like if Cryptic Developed It: Your level 60 WoW characters would have to put together 60-person raid teams to and go on elaborate quests in order to unlock the mighty mystic portal that only opens once per century ... to fight pigs. Not giant pigs, or magical pigs, or pigs that look or sound any different from the ones you were fighting for XP at level 1. But these are special, level 60 and up pigs that have one or two new attacks and which have enough hit points and damage output to fight a level 60 raid group!

Making an absolute statement like "Mayhem Missions are versus Longbow" based on a single screen shot is a stretch, to say the least.

From that screen shot, the most you can realistically say is that "IF that is a shot of a Mayhem Mission, then SOME of them will have Longbow in them."

[/ QUOTE ]

QFT - that is just an example of a group that might be in a Mayhem Mish.

Anyway, most of the mayhem missions will be in Oranbega...

What Neocron Would Be Like if Cryptic Developed It: Your level 35 characters will fight their way out into the wastelands, and in ruined laboratories under the ruins of a nuked-out civilization they'd be fighting ... rats. Not giant rats, not sentient rats, not rat colonies, not mutated rats, not cyborg rats, but the same old rats you fought in the level 1 sewers. But these are special level 40 rats that have a few new powers and who do enough damage to hurt your level 35 characters.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm sure you meant to say bats, from the 1/1's in the newbie sewer to the 90/90 poison spamming swarms in the crystal caves.

Or maybe like the mutants? From the whatever ranked those low level nailgun totting zombie wannabies are to the ceres war veterans with those Judgement Day rocket launchers.

Whatever you meant, it's nice to see someone that's heard of the game, Neocron is great, but I couldn't stand how long it takes for the devs of that game [Or is it dev now? Poor company lost coders and staff like crazy *sniffs*] to release patches for horribly broken mechanics. Still, I'd be back there in a heartbeat if *synchronising* wasn't the most common word in the game... and the population of the english servers went back to 400+ simultaneous players. ^^;;

Anywho recycling mobs isn't something terribly new in games, I'm quite impressed by how the devs of CoX keep pumping out creative, interesting zones and new mob types to populate them.
