Well, don't forget, those giant robots are just "bosses". The heroes my villain encounters are "elite bosses" or "heroes" when grouped.

yeah, there needs to be a punch sound added to it along with the bzzzt sounds.

My thoughts on the Electric animations:
1.) The charged brawl animation uses the boxing animation. I would change it to the brawl animation
2.) Havok punch uses the air superiority swing... just like so many other powersets (super strength, energy melee...). I would use the smite animation from DM (a nice simple uppercut goes a long way).
3.) The attacks look and sound wimpy. A little more flash with the electric animation is needed as well as a meaty smack when the punches land (if it does any smashing damage it should SOUND like it does some smashing damage) -

I implore you, fearless heroes of Paragon, to report to the D.A.T.A. offices in City Hall if you are willing travel forward into this time stream and defend our fair city from evil.

Sounds like the hero enterance might be -

Ha. Thundarr the barbarian. Herculoids. Laugholympics.
Can you name all three teams from laugholympics? - answers at bottom:
1.) Scooby-doobies (hmm, are they trying to say something?)
2.) Yogi-yahooies
3.) Really Rottens -
They really need to review the cost and upkeep of non PVP base items...
Also, previous comments have been worried about the possible cost of these empowerment stations and the power usage. This is a quote from a Positron interview on CoHcompendium:
[ QUOTE ]
with Empowerment Stations, which are a type of self-powered Crafting Table that gives your characters long duration buffs in exchange for Salvage. The Empowerment Stations are not prohibitively expensive, so even the smallest Supergroup should be able to afford them.
[/ QUOTE ]
As we can see the station will be self - powered. Whew. I am in a SMALL villain group and getting anything cool for our base just plain costs to much. Too bad I bought that plasma tv from Rent A Center.. Stupid upkeep cost on decorative items.... -
[ QUOTE ]
Heck... bring back the Luddites and Legacy Chain for 40-50! They both had some cool powers that set them apart, and got phased out way too early.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. The Legacy vanishes too early (outside of the occasional level 20 newspaper mission). I thought these guys were deep into magic?
[ QUOTE ]
Heck, add in the Hero Corps, they're established already, why not use them in the Rogue Isles
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Since all Hero Corps. personal are super powered, instead of a map having a bunch of them as minions and Lts, fill a standard mission map with security guards (better equipped perhaps than the bank guards) who hired a couple of Hero Corps. people to bolster their power (boss level?).
[ QUOTE ]
Would like to see Malta operating in CoV, more from the Wyvern, etc
[/ QUOTE ]
Since the Malta group is trying to pull the strings and keep heroes in check, shouldn't they also be concerned about too many super powered villains as well?
[ QUOTE ]
Portal Corps police
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Since they have advanced tech, give it to them. The security guards should be wearing body armor over their uniforms. Give them some Rikti-style weapons as well (access to other dimensions should have it's privledges). Also, some boss level type heroes who are "on call" to protect one of the city's greatest assets.
Army. It was mentioned in a post above. Sure, why not? We see them duking it out in the Rikti Crashsite. There are some places that normal security is too little. Military bases, labs, research facilities, ect. Marines armed to the teeth (machine guns, heavy machine guns, rocket launchers like the old 5th column), humvees with heavy machine guns, tanks as bosses that fire both machine guns and armor piercing shells, apache gunships, army special forces... Yes. I can see clearly now... Imagine some research from the bottom of the sea being brought back to the mainland by a Navy destroyer... -
[ QUOTE ]
Kelvin 3k of the Hellions is a Elite Boss... but people don't know that because people out-level that arc easily....
[/ QUOTE ]
Out of curiosity, which contact gives this arc? -
So, Finishline and his mentor. Are these player created heroes? If not, why not? I know there is a contest to enter your hero to appear in a comic, but man, there are plenty of characters floating around to use....

And yet ironically some of the player base will roundly trash him, demand apologies from him, and phrase their posts to him in a very acidic manner.
[/ QUOTE ]
I find that people talk a lot tougher when they aren't face to face. Ah well, I am sure the devs have developed thick skin (or dare I say tough hides).

I made sure to clear the area of Counsel before I engage Snaptooth to give me room to maneuver. I found that if I was able to kill Snaptooth and back out of aggro range quick enough he wouldn't move from the spot I defeated him at when he respawned. I would then kill the Rascals that came at me in a nice conga line.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup. I learned I needed the room to manuver so I cleared the Arachnos troops before pulling Toothbreaker to a distant spot. I generally engage him on the "airstrip" atop the hill. -
Are you talking about toothbreaker badge or the one for killing redcaps? If it is the killing redcaps, Positron posted here

And they gave Scrappers nothing to make up for it. So now Stalkers have 2 sets Scrappers don't have access to.
They gave Tanks nothing.
[/ QUOTE ]
So far that appears to be true. It has been posted (was it by Cuppa?) not I7 is still months off. Not everything added was posted on the sneak peak. Be patient for the full issue notes come out. -
I am guessing the Thug MM powerset would use a pistol for attacks (just my guess). As for shields? I agree that there is a small number of premere heroes who use one (Cap and US Agent are the only ones to come to mind). Even as a huge Cap fan, I won't be using a shield set since it doesn't appeal to me.
-
"Snarky"...
Is that like a snark? Those horrible little exploding red beetle things from Half-life? -
Devices:
Cloaking device - 7.5 defense vs. all attack types - does not get "suppressed")
Energy manipulation
Bone smasher - replace with a self version of deflection shield
Electricity manipulation
Lightning field - replace damage with resistance to smash and energy damage
Fire manipulation
combustion - replace with fire shield
Ice manipulation
Chilling embrace - replace with frozen armor
Of course these need to be balanced properly but if the point is to survive better, limit the cap on defense and resistance.
I don't think it will "overpower" an AT that is easily one shotted. Good grief, if you want to talk about "realistic" in
terms of a video game about super heroes (yes suspend reality) than why can't some one with fire MANIPULATION not
surround themselves in protective flames? With the right testing and balancing, I think this will make the AT more fun,
more survivable and not overpowered.
Of course, the epic powers help here but what about the pre 41 game? Where MOST people spend their time playing? -
I would like to see the Calvin Scott TF in the comics.

Hey DesolateJoker, nice avatar pic, I saw that episode of Red Dwarf last night.

I work for Pitney Bowes in QA/System test. We won't let software out the door without first laying out the test coverage and potential issues with any gaps in the test effort due to time constraints. It is up to the management team to decide if (no joke) risk = reward. There have been cases where entire features were pulled out due to no confidence for commercial release. I understand the delays. I have not gained anything from either issue 1, 2, OR 3 since I always seemed to level past the new stuff (or be well under level 50). The stuff that I got out of the updates were the general "quality of life" items:
Tanker changes - I LOVE these
Scrapper changes - Criticals are, well, critical
Mission changes - Not going to one of the same 5 abandoned office buildings is KEY - even if there are only visual changes
Monsters - Can you say Devilfish badge anyone?
The arena holds nothing for me. Sure I might go toe to toe with one of my buddies just for kicks, but I would rather have the skill system. The thing to remember is that the arena fills a player nitch. For this group, it is all important. The same can be said about the skills system. There will be plenty of people who never use either.
However, with CoV looming on the horizon, the arena can play a great use for the devs. I would expect many, many changes to pvp arena action once it goes live. The amount of AT vs AT data they can get from this will be very useful for CoV.
I understand the decisions made. I don't like them, but hey, I don't work on the project. I am simply hoping that this issue will have something everyone can use. New powersets for example. Or perhaps a new EAT that doesn't require a level 50 character, or completing all TF missions. I want something I can use. Not complaining mind you, just throwing in my 2 cents. -
I am a casual player. I play at MOST 10 hours a week. I usually play solo or with at most 2 other people. I think the game is great and the new zone has my interest. I have played since the first day and my higest guy is only level 31. My other two are mid-twenties and late teens.
I do not think that the update isn't "solo friendly". I do agree that a bunch of new "features" are useless to my game enjoyment, but so what. I am .00001% of the user base. I think as long as there is something for everyone, great. I have no interest in the epic ATs. Don't have any interest for me now or when I hit 50 with my main. Other people like them. If I were to wish for one thing to make my game experience better it wouldn't be more powers, changing power color, ect. It would simply be to lower the minimum number of task force members to 4 for ALL task forces. Heck, even 3 people. I want to do Manitcore's TF. 7 people?! It will never happen for me. That is something I find too bad.
Enough about that. As long as every update has something, however small, for everyone, good. Simply making more and more missions unique is a great thing in itself.
