States hinted in another post that newspaper missions for heroes wouldn't be from newspapers. I think that's what he meant with that, like a police scanner or something.

States, i know CoV needs content to fill in the end game now. I accept that.

I have no issue with MOST of the content being CoV only.

I do however not see a reason to give Brutes yet another armor set, for a total of six, while the tankers have been complaining of their primary just having 4 options since release.

Energy aura should be given to tankers simply because we already have energy melee.

And electric armor should also be there, it fits perfectly with the elemental nature of all tankers (other than invuln).

I also know that brutes do need more offensive sets since they have less than tankers, so i do realize them, but also think warmace, axe and broadsword should be available to them, maybe with a bit diferent art.

PLEASE dont ignore the tanker's lack of armor sets any longer! I know shields are comming but that is
A) far away
B) still short of what brutes have
C) still no synergy set for Energy Melee despite it already existing.

Just giving tankers energy aura and maybe hopefuly electric/electric would alone make many think this ACTUALLY has CoH content AND at the same time will fill one of the long time tanker issues.

If the sets exits i see no reason why they cant fit a tanker with just a bit of training room testing.

I would rather content and cool toys to be released as they are finished. That way we can be only slightly dissapointed an update at a time rather than just one huge dissapointment every few months.

[/ QUOTE ]

Kinda like the last two patches on the test server?

[/ QUOTE ]

Despite the fact you are coming off as a condescending [censored] I will be nice.

Yes.. exactly like that. I wish we could get changes as they are complete. The stuff in the issues is cool, but the coolness is overshadowed by the fact that some people have been waiting forever for a very specific change. New issues hold the promise of this. Yet it doesn't come..

Scappers need some help there too. Only 4 secondaries to choose from.

Agree, but the issue is bigger if you are talking about your primary. Heck even masterminds are getting a thug set to bump up their set count. Even so i do think scrappers should at least get a variant of Ninjitsu

I am sad.. The last two posts haven't been able to write scrapper correctly.

Fixed it Kitty

Is anyone else really tweaked at the fact that Statesman is saying that content for CoH is new base items when you can't access a base unless you own CoV?

The Devs ran out of powers to nerf, so they took one of our r's

We are scappers now.

For those who have speculated that Newspaper missions are coming to City of Heroes, they aren’t…yet. That’s coming a little later in the year. I’d like to add something different to the CoH system…

[/ QUOTE ]

I assume this means you're going with the Cat Stuck in Tree Missions in which Citizens go up to you with custom missions that you mentioned long ago (ala Spiderman 2)?

Sorry but that sounds nuts to me. Are you actually suggesting that we have Tanks with Illusion Control powers or Controllers with Stone Armor. How about an Empathy Defender with Super Strength?
IMHO we need more specific powers not less. Sure everyone wants to be the vaunted "Tank/Mage" with great armor, melee attacks and powerful ranged attacks plus lots of support spells... but if you allow that everyone would be 95% identical to everyone else.

And clean out your litter box!

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think she means anything of the sort. But there are certain powersets that could certainly bridge between archetypes.

[/ QUOTE ]

Dark is a perfect example of a power source (and note I'm calling it a source, not a Set) that bridges between archetypes. There are Dark Scrappers, Dark Defenders, Dark Brutes, Dark Corruptors, Dark Masterminds (Necro/Dark) and in I7 there will be Dark Stalkers. The same power, Dark, has very different EFFECTS depending on your Archetype. (Although in all honesty, there are some common elements that bridge Archetype limitations, such as Healing and Fear, abilities we would associate with Buff/Debuff and Control)

A Super Strength Defender might be a hard concept to follow, since SS is really a physical concept, and doesn't extend well to ranged defense. Then again, you might say that SS, Invunerability and Kinetics are all about physical, Kinetic energy. So maybe they are related. You can certainly relate Energy Melee and Energy Aura to Energy Blast and Force Field. (In fact, I was kind of thinking Energy Aura would put bubbles around you. I guess not, tho)

Tanks with Illusion I really can't come up with an idea for. But maybe a Stalker-like misdirection Scrapper, who uses illusions to make himself appear to be somewhere other than his actual position? He wouldn't have pets, exactly, but his powers would by similar to Super Reflexes. Actually, he would probably work much better as a Stalker.

It's the nature of the beast that the younger child gets all the attention while the older children get scraps. When PvP hit, most of the changes were for PvP. Sure, some PvE stuff hit (Croatoa) but it's been heavy on PvP since. Now it's CoV getting the attention. It's just the way it goes.

Sooner or later, however, some parents realize that the baby of the family is just a whiney brat and the older, more well adjusted children get some respect again.

But I suppose some will always find something to complain about.

[/ QUOTE ]

As paying customers who feel they are not getting what they are paying for they have every right to complain. CoV and CoH are sold as stand alone games and some feel should be supported as such. Beginning with I4 the additions, and subtractions, for CoH have been about balancing CoH for the PvP that came with CoV and the supposed upper level content for CoH.

For those people that play both games and like PvP and bases then the additional content for CoV with I7 sounds great. For those people who have no interest in PvP or bases then another issue with content neglect for CoH makes them upset.

If they are going to be sold separately then they should be supported separately...to an extent. I would love to see the story progress in CoH but with the focus squarely on CoV and the desire to have them equal as far as content goes I highly doubt that we'll see anything new and interesting for CoH for quite some time.

It’s true that CoV received more attention, but that’s mainly because we needed to fill out the levels. I had the option of releasing I7 or waiting until we could fill out the City of Heroes content. Obviously, I chose the former. New content should get out there when it’s ready. We'll be focusing equally as much as possible on each product moving into the future...

Jack:

I won't belabor why I think Issue 7 should include some new content for CoH PVE-ers. I'll just note some possibly easy ways that you could deliver new content to the CoH PVE-ers in issue 7.

#1) Create a fallen hero trial so heroes can cross over into the Rogue Isles and experience the PVE there.

#2) Add "Praetorian Portals" to City of Heroes that not only transport your hero to the Praetorian worlds to fight evil there, but also (as a consequence) cause your Praetorian opposite to transport into the Rogue Isles. When you enter the Praetorian Portal, you don't play your hero in those dimesntions, but instead play your evil opposite as a villain of the same level in CoV. (Obivously, you could make this a two way street). This would give both heroes and villains access to all the PVE content in the opposite game without the overhead of a building a redeemed/fallen system.

#3) Make Hazard Zone versions of Warburg, Bloody Bay and Sirens Call with the PVP element/Zonewide game removed, but the missions intact so people who don't like to PVP can access that content without risking PVP.

#4) Even though the full-on broker system isn't available in CoH yet and is not going to be, the mission generator tech is available. So put a contact in each zone that will offer you the randomized missions - and nothing else. Then turn them into a full fledged brokers when that becomes available.

A more boring and far more likely guess would be an enhancement store. If I'm wrong, I'll be happily surprised.

Nope. Temp powers/buffs.

But where is it written in stone that they need to be supported equally. And, for that matter, what defines equal?

ooh - are these Empowerment Stations some of the affordable items for smaller SGs that you've mentioned in the past?

Hehe nice, but it still requires that you have both games. For me that's not a problem but for the avid CoH goers it is.

Yup, it's time for the usual issue hysteria.

I'm going to be sitting out this one. It's more fun to actually play the game than to get wrapped up in the same cycle that happens everytime a new issue is introduced.
