Is there any possibility you could squeeze something in to help with the 35-39 range? OK, as was mentioned in another thread there's Warburg, but I dislike the environment PvP engenders.

well, they appear to be adding the new PDP (Pocket D) mid issue (granted that's both games), so there is hope that other changes would be made the same way...

[/ QUOTE ]

This is true -- but, that said, Pocket D's actual story content (missions from DJ Zero, and whatever else is planned) hasn't been released yet. So I can't quite bring myself to call it new story content, for the moment.

Honestly, I expected and accepted that I7 would be massively tilted towards CoV. Even as a non-PvPer and someone who much prefers hero-side play, I was OK with that. But I was hoping for something more like an 80/20 split than the 95/5 that this has turned out to be.

I'm not asking for much... and I'm not being unrealistically impatient. As a software developer myself, I understand perfectly the occasional need to cut features to get a release out on time. But, could we hero-types at least get a small "point release" once the CoH additions originally planned for inclusion in I7 are ready, so we're not staring down the barrel of a full 3+ month (plus time to I7 release) Issue development cycle?

Heck, just tell me that whatever Newspaper-ish system Statesman has in mind for CoH will see release in advance of the next issue, and it'll be enough to placate me for a few months. And maybe one new (borrowed or otherwise) powerset, just so Miss Kitty doesn't revert to a feral state and claw some poor red-name to death.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree with you about PDP, but I am still not convinced there won't be something to do there come i7...

the 'newspaper tech', or whatever it's going to turn into for CoH, I could see that being added mid-issue...

I completely concur with you - they should at least give a roadmap as to when content "in the works" will be out, as to not totally alienate the CoH-only playerbase. Although I don't know how Cryptic works, I don't think this is completely unreasonable to ask.

This Empowerment stations regardless what it is will be underwhelming to 99% of the heroes. Why, because with the current costs of base items, 99% of the SG's won't be able to afford and probably not able to maintain it until sometime in mid 2008.

[/ QUOTE ]
Hear Hear!

edit: If they are just trainers I hope we can at least dress them up in the SG uniform!

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, but in her feral state, her clothes tend to get all ripped and shredded, so it's not that bad!

Also, for everyone who's [censored] about no new costume options..

[ QUOTE ]
New Costume Items

Details to follow.

[/ QUOTE ]

Let's wait until we get an official word before you start saying that, otherwise you're going to know just how to season that foot you've started to eat.

You know what? I am getting tired of this whole build up to issue X only to be dissapointed in the end. You hope and hope.. telling yourself it will be in the issue around the corner. Well I have been doing that for over a year now... and I am sick of it.

I would rather content and cool toys to be released as they are finished. That way we can be only slightly dissapointed an update at a time rather than just one huge dissapointment every few months.

Neither am I -- although it's the sort of thing I'd have expected to see listed in the I7 preview, if it were happening. It's new, it's colorful (great imagery for press releases), and it's looking like cooperative hero-villain play, which would be a big new feature worthy of notable marketing.

I could also see it happening -- that's why I brought it up. I'd just like to know if the devs could also see it happening before I get my hopes up (again).

Sorry Bub,

You're not holding my attention or my dollars long enough for me to experience it.

Yep ... push that content out, Jack. Keep it up and fewer villains & heroes will even WANT to eat that newer content than you think.

I would rather they just stop disappointing us.

I agree with you about releasing as it's done. Paying to wait for nothing gets old pretty fast.

Actually, if they could fit in the Fallen/Redeemed trial into i7, I'd be very happy as that adds *FIVE* Arch Types worth of content to City of Heroes!

It's customary to give away your inf and salvege before you go.

Can I have your stuff?

well, new contacts and stuff don't typically get mentioned in press releases (nor do power buffs/nerfs and bug-fixes and other things like that, in response to others...), so I can see it not getting mentioned, since Pocket D itself should be live before i7 is out.

heh, i agree with you there... it would help with those level gaps too, if we had an inexhaustible source of missions, so the sooner this goes in, the better, in my opinion.

But Statesman, I'm confused.

We were told long ago not to worry about CoH issues being delayed because of work on CoV, due ot the fact that they had seperate Dev teams working on them.

And yet, now, somehow the CoH team is failing to provide content for the update, and your reason is that you were busy fleshing out CoV and that CoV is priory numero uno.

But what about those who only have CoH?
What happened to the CoH Dev team being seperate from the CoV Dev team?
The CoH Dev team has had just as long, if not longer, than the CoV team to work on the update, and yet the COH only players are getting absolutely squat for new content.

I understand CoV needs to be finished, and needs work.

But so too does CoH.

2 games -> 2 Dev teams.

That's what we were told.

[/ QUOTE ]

Unless I'm very much mistaken the comment about seperate CoV CoH teams was back _before_ the subscription cost was finalised. I'll admit that the "seperate dev teams" comment hasn't been officially redacted but my common sense tells me.

No additional subscription fee == No dedicated teams.

I'm really dissapointed about the lack of CoH stuff, but PPP's and the run from 40 to 50 in CoV will keep me busy I hope (Well my CoH main stalled at 44, I got my mission slots filled with AV's lost all interest and quit till the release of CoV so maybe it won't)

Which reminds me, aren't they putting the AV changes in on or about I7? Didn't see it listed, but could be under the blanket "QoL" statement.

[/ QUOTE ]

In defense of the devs (hey, did I just say that? )... this doesn't bother me. Partly because we've already gotten confirmation that the sound bug is being worked on (even if I can't find the post right now), and partly because those are the sorts of bug fixes and QoL improvements that Cryptic has always been willilng to release in patches between issues.

Content is another matter. That's generally been exclusively released in Issues, and I'd like to see an exception made this time around, since the "distraction" of releasing and "catching up" a second game strikes me as an exceptional circumstance.

Figured someone would dust off the *gimmie gimme* stuff but seriously tacky. Statesboy just told those of us who prefer being a hero that the new pvp laden goodies will be the FOTM since all those hot dollars lurkeing overseas calls to him.

And i hope he does well with them..

But this still honks off the hero side of the game seeing CoV stepping on us when supposedly we should be happy with trial zones of emptyness, still boked powers and issues since day one:/. maybe I can understand I *should* have to buy CoV to savor the other goodies but.. why?.

Well gamecard runs down in 18 days and I can take a holiday to see if anything improves herside to entice my dollars back to hero loveing gameplay but if not it was a good ride while it lasted. Sad though that no matter how it will be flamed/sliced/debated.. PVP did come along and is doing anumber on CoH.

Heh, Athyna said proverbial bone... heh heh...

[ QUOTE ]
I had the option of releasing I7 or waiting until we could fill out the City of Heroes content. Obviously, I chose the former. New content should get out there when it’s ready. We'll be focusing equally as much as possible on each product moving into the future...

[/ QUOTE ]

Crappy excuse Jack! On the beta boards we were introduced to a whole bunch of new personel which we assumed were all there just for CoV. And You did indeed tell us there would be two live-content teams. If NcSoft's being stingy about Art resources, it's understandable. But since CoV sold at full stand-alone price instead of at "expansion" cost, it should be paying for it's own extra resources.

It seems what we got instead of 2 Development Teams for CoH and Cov... Is intead the same old people doing PvE and powers in both... And a new "lead designer" who does Bases and nothing else apparently. ...the only place where I see a distinction(and stuff actually getting done) between the two games is in the head writers' departments and the Web people(Cuppa, Alex, Castle) ...everything else seems to be moving so slow it's going backwards, especially for CoH content, Defenders, and Dominators.

That's not a "decision", it's lack of planning.

As several have noted, I7 features content mostly for City of Villains (levels 41 to 50, in fact). This is exactly what we did for CoH.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah but it only took a month for CoH...we're goin on what 4 months now? With the sheer amount of time we've been waiting we expected some CoH stuff too.

[ QUOTE ]
City of Heroes will receive a cool graphics upgrade,

[/ QUOTE ]

Well what about us poor ati users who have issues with the graphics in CoV already? Will CoH be just has twitchy for us now too?

[ QUOTE ]
new base items (Empowerment stations!) and access to Recluses’ Victory.

[/ QUOTE ]

Which I assume will be available to CoV too...not seeing CoH content so far but then again Issue 6 was just PvP zones and some Sg/Badge stuff to bring CoH in line with CoV, more of a patch, less of an Update.

[ QUOTE ]
New content should get out there when it’s ready.

[/ QUOTE ]

I've heard that somewhere before...powersets, wings, trenchcoats, skills, epic ATs that are...epic, etc....yeah that's where I've heard it before...

[ QUOTE ]
For those who have speculated that Newspaper missions are coming to City of Heroes, they aren’t…yet. That’s coming a little later in the year.

[/ QUOTE ]

At the current rate of development it will have been nearly a year since CoH last saw some love (Croatoa Update) by the time we see anything else...hell just giving trenchcoats as a costume option would shut alotta people up because we've wanted that since before the launch of CoH!

I have to say though Dominators aren't really a problem. The only AT that does/should feel neglected is Defenders. Yay we got two new sets of Powersets..neither of which is exclusive and as of CoV we now have no powerset exclusive to Defenders. Not to mention serious issues with Trick Arrow and FF STILL. And then there's the apparent death inducing effects of Sonic powers which have made them unpopular among players and teammates quite often...

On a brighter note anytime I see Miss Kitty (or Lady Athyna) post it makes me calm down because they always have such lovely avatars...
