The Healer Essence targets anyone within 80 ft. and has a targeted heal off of them. So, send one Scrapper into to attack the Essence. If the Scrapper can't do more damage then what is healed off of the Scrapper, then that Scrapper isn't helping to defeat the Essence, but hurting that effort. Similarly for any other melee type that can't outdamage the heal. They need to back off and stay out of range.

Anyone with a ranged attack that is longer than 80 ft can stay outside the range of the heal and slowly whittle away the hp of the Essence. Most ranged attacks are exactly 80 ft., so, unless there is slotting for range, not many ranged attacks will work here.

My team tonight/this morning tried both methods to kill the healing nictus. We were able to defeat the other two nictus and finally Romulus without having him rez but couldn't overcome the healing nictus.

We could damage it but it's regen stayed ahead of our damage output. Our problem may have been we only had one blaster on the team but we were doing well up to that point so it was a little disheartening to stall at the end.

    We had:
    1 x Tank (Me)
    2 x Defender (both emp)
    1 x Stalker
    1 x Scrapper (SK'd up to 50)
    1 x Blaster

The best result we had on the healing nictus is when we decided against a plan and just rushed the sucker but just couldn't overcome the regen. It ended up feeling like we needed to have somebody with -regen or a damage heavey team and that left several members with a bad taste about this TF.

I do not want. I will not use. I will avoid it if at all possible. If it is forced on me, it will likely be the end of my time with CoX.

This sums up this announcement for me. Sometimes it can be difficult to find a team, at least during the times I can play, but if a new requirement for teams is to have voice chat or get the boot, well, I guess it would be time to move on.

Of course, maybe it would be time for an SG for those folks that voice chat holds no appeal for. Maybe call ourselves Silent Justice.

I guess my biggest complaint about comlainers is that they usually sound like ranters (ie: Im gonna cancel my account, Jack you're a tard, etc.).

Your post, however, is well-worded and concise, and expresses in civilized terms why some people are upset about I7 (although I generally sneer at the words "paying customer" because of the afformentioned reason (usually leads into a rant)).

Kudos to you THUDD, and well spoken. Although it is understandable that I7 is mostly villain-based relase, it would be nice to know when hero-related items will be introduced for the CoH-only non-PvP crowd.

Thanks for the kind words but I do have to admit for quite a while I was a ranter/complainer, then I threw myself an intervention and got over it.
  4. [ QUOTE ]

But I suppose some will always find something to complain about.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As paying customers who feel they are not getting what they are paying for they have every right to complain. CoV and CoH are sold as stand alone games and some feel should be supported as such. Beginning with I4 the additions, and subtractions, for CoH have been about balancing CoH for the PvP that came with CoV and the supposed upper level content for CoH.

For those people that play both games and like PvP and bases then the additional content for CoV with I7 sounds great. For those people who have no interest in PvP or bases then another issue with content neglect for CoH makes them upset.

If they are going to be sold separately then they should be supported separately...to an extent. I would love to see the story progress in CoH but with the focus squarely on CoV and the desire to have them equal as far as content goes I highly doubt that we'll see anything new and interesting for CoH for quite some time.
  5. The secondary of the controller was empathy I see.

If you didn't have a pocket healer on the team how would you have done?
  6. [ QUOTE ]

The changes in I5 had very little to do with PvP and a lot to do with boring PvE. It's that simple. No conspiracy there - I think I've stated this several times.

    Boss Changes

Isn't there already content that encourages grouping? TF's, AV's, Hazard Zones, Monsters?

I'm of the mind that everything besides these events should be able to be done solo. Except maybe Named Boss', maybe.

Also, if you want people to enjoy the story that goes along with the game then forcing players to group for any mission that has a boss in it probably isn't the way to do it. On teams I am less likely to be able to read the mission briefing or any of the clues that come up much less the random chatter from the bad guys in the mission. Besides, many players have "solo" character concepts for Roleplaying purposes and forced grouping discourages them from actually RPing and isn't RPing part of the game too?

    Just a thought.
