Badge Questions

Yeah but if you fail the final mission of the story arc, I believe the clue or arc or whatever after that says that Kronos escaped to the Rogue Isles. I remember that because at one point on the beta boards we had a MM joke about having Kronos as a pet and someone said that it could be possible since he did escape to the Rogue Isles at the end of that arc, and sure enough, a bunch of us went and checked it and it did indeed say that he took off to the Isles. So you never know, he could be around at some point, which would be awesome because he's my favorite GM

Speaking of Giant Monsters how about Kronos for villains? Why are you dodging the question?

[/ QUOTE ]

Kronos spawning in PvP zones was a bug that I believe is fixed. There never was any plan to have Kronos spawn in Warburg, but because he spawned on a CoH TF it used to be able to make the ambush happen in a PvP zone. This, I believe, has been fixed as it was/is a bug.

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't really see it as bug considering it was a ambush on story arc and not a TF. Ambushes happen whereever the mission holder is so does that mean no ambushes in PVP zones at all or just Kronos?

Posted

SHH! Positron probably ment to make the WWR arc a TF (like the Shard TFs), but forgot. We don't want that fixed, that's for sure.

The whole World Wide Red storyarc is about how expensive the Kronos was to put together and how there were only two of them, which the heroes take out over the course of the arc.

I don't think we'll see another Kronos on the villain side just so we can get a badge.

Lord Relcuse could easily go back in time and bring one of the Kronos to the present, and use it in his plans. Even if he doesn't have the ability to do it now, he will in the future perhaps. Which really means, due to temporal mechanics, that he already has the ability....

I think.....

Anyway, you could explain Kronos being in CoV from a number of angles, including the "escaped" one from CoH, as well.

When Giant Monsters get tougher (Issue 7), this number will drop to 10%(or more), encouraging more teams to fight them. The rewards will be increasing as well.

Problem with this...some monsters are set up for just one group:

Babbage: Ambushes team doing Synapse TF
Krakken: In Sewer Trial, must be defeated four times at bottom even if you can avoid the Krakken in the scaffolding
Adamastor: In instanced mission at end of Numina TF
Kronos: Surprise ambush after exiting mission, and then in surprise timed mission.
Quarry: Two of these must be defeated in an instanced mission in the Eden trial.

I may be an exception, but I don't find giant monsters in need of a buff. My only complaint is with how often they spawn.

As I recall from the mission in which my empath single-handedly drove the Kronos out to sea (ahem), the text said he was heading toward the "Fallen Isles". I don't know if that's been changed to "Rogue Isles" since, although I do recall some discussion of it during Beta. Regardless, there's no reason why he couldn't turn up there--maybe the Fallen Isles were just along the way, or an extraction point, or something. The Titan in the mission is "incomplete", however, which is why he's only an AV rather than a Giant Monster.

Great, now I'm picturing some Freaks finding him on the beach and "fixing him up". The Malta Group meets Megas XLR.

Zone Giant Monsters are getting the buff. GM's that are mission-specified (like the ambush ones, or the Eden trial, etc) are not being touched. Those GMs are "arch-villain" level, i.e. made to be beaten by 1 team.

Zone Giant Monsters are the GM's that appear randomly (or triggered) in zones. This does not include the ambushes that are triggered from missions.

This change will be both CoH and CoV.

What about Hamidon Raids? At the moment, the only people getting anything for their money during the "Mito Phase" are the damage and sometimes the Umbrella teams. The PA Droppers, the Agro Team, and the Agro-Heal team get nothing at all, but without a single one of them: Sea of Orange Names (Raid Over)!

Is something going to be done to reward these people? They aren't even in the running for the single SO or Salvage piece! I mean, even the id10ts who get in the one or two hits and run back to the rock get something for their money!

In the failed attempt to defeat Kronos, here is what it says....

Crimson and Indigo exposed Firenze and his part in the Malta Group to the world and you wnt in and captured the traitorous director. At the last moment he actived the second Kronos Titan to destroy the city! Incomplete, damage and unable to break through the reinforced War Wall , the kronos Titan headed out to sea towards the Rogue Isles. project World Wide Red is over.

Thanks. I still don't think they need a buff, I think you're catering to your best players and leaving your more casual and less skilled players behind, but at least content won't depend on these.

Man, I really don't want to face an even tougher Hamidon. These raids already last long enough post-ED.

Do you mean under the name where it lists their "gang", or where it lists minion/LT/boss?

I do know that Mitos are AV class from the change to mission AVs to AVs/EBs thing - it doesn't affect SF/TF or worldmap AVs. Mitos were given as teh only worldmap av spawn.

I interpret this to mean that the "free range" giant monsters that are standard spawns in the Hive and on the Monster Isles in PI won't be affected by the change--just the "event" GMs. I hope that's what it means, anyway. It's bad enough now when some griefer drags the DE monsters into the goo at raids; I'd rather not contemplate what two or three of the buffed GMs might do.

Yeah, on that.

Thanks for the heads up.

I had 113 heroes and villains standing in Bloody Bay with nine Kronos scheduled to drop in on them.

113 heroes 'n villains standing around. For a half hour. Not fighting. Waiting to fight a horde of Kronos together, as a FAMILY!

AND YOU RUINED IT!

On the side note, several of the Police Drones in Sky Way need the Kronos badge on Victory now.

It may just be Pinnacle, but I'm seeing a LOT less giant monster interest now than there ever was in the past. Lusca stays up until she despawns. Jurassik has become more of a waypoint in Crey's Folly than anything to consider attacking. Adamastor? He's part of the landscape.

Point here is that it's already getting very difficult to get enough people to defeat giant monsters NOW. I don't see how making them tougher is going to improve the waning interest, supposed increased "rewards" or not. You may want to go play with your datamines some more, because I think you're making a mistake with this buff.

Also, if all these monsters were meant to be taken down by more than one team, why should only one team get the badge? Forgive me if I'm mistaken, it's been a while since I've tackled a giant monster, but last I checked the badge was only given to the team that does the most damage. This was to prevent, I guess, people from coming in, swatting the thing once and sitting at a safe distance for the badge. And it works nicely for that scenario, but consider this scenario:

Team A: Deals a total of 2000 damage
Team B: Deals a total of 1999 damage
Team A: "WooooO! Badge earned!"
Team B: "@#$%... well, that was a big fat waste. But at least we kept team A's scrappers alive with our defenders."

So I ask in general, but especially if you go around buffing monsters up, let the badge go to all who help to defeat the monster, not just the team with the highest level damage dealers.

Again, strike this completely from the record if I don't have my facts straight. I do know that this does not apply to Lusca, but I'm pretty sure it still goes for Adamaster, Krakens, etc...

[/ QUOTE ]

Hey, Positron? Is there any QoL fix for Monsters spawning in badly cluttered zones that effectively make them invisible?

I have *yet* to see the Eden Giant Monster ever spawn, as I think it gets lost in the trees?

I know they are supposed to be rare, but impossible to find seems unfair.

Still here, even after all this time!
