More info about CoV pre-orders

Yeah! What's the deal with these store based items? All NCsoft games are like this.

What store in their right minds would agree to this? What if the item your store had was the boner ( least desireable ) item? Can they sue NCsoft for loss of revenue?

Better to allow the player pick the item they want at character creation.

And what about the Collectors Edition? Will you be pulling a CoH on that one and releasing it later, in the hopes that players will buy it also, along with the preorder?

what i would like to know is, if we preorder instore will beta keys be sent to the stores for us to pick up or will beta keys only be given through the web sites of each store when purchased online at said store ?

Hmmm... is there any way we can get all the items other than buy the game four times? :P

-Helm of the Blood Widows: GameStop (female helmet)

Shouldn't there be both a male AND female version of each helmet from each retailer? Doesn't make much sense to restrict it to certain sexes. What if a gamer doesn't like playing a certain sex?

The pre-orders come with an account key that you register, then it just emails you when you get in the beta.


Btw, this is the exact same way it worked with CoH and the prestige sprints.

You don't get them for buying the game, you get them for pre-ordering the game.

Guys... these are all free bonuses, you know. Complaining about free stuff, in my opinion, seems a little... well... ungrateful.

A lot of games give you nothing for pre-ordering.

I emailed EB games about this, who then said to call the store, who didn't have a clue about any bonus items, but the second store I called thinks that they will get the bonus disk next week for pick up for instore or "web-pick up from store" orders. He then said to call back next week to check.

Jeez, what a bunch of whiners. They offer you a FREE add-on for pre-ordering and you all complain about what they give you.

It's FREE!!!! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

It would be preferable if certain story arcs, missions, badges or 'events' opened up new costume options (and / or animations, like the various Prestige Sprints or Prestige Brawl animations speculated about on the CoV forums), only available to people who had completed this content.

I don't like the idea that where I shop limits my options for character appearance.

When I preordered last month, it *was* for just the game, no bonus/freebies included. Now my preorder sez 'with bonus'

I intend to simply wait and look at the item I like. Not in a big rush. Although I hope the prices will be posted soon, especially with all the floods of CoH+CoV price questions.

Actually we already know that doing certain things will open up costume options. In the end game you can join the different factions and you get access to their costume pieces and some special powers. It is possible that you will be able to get similar helmets through the factions, but the difference is that since these are prestige pre-order helmets you can have them from level 1.

Ok, let me rephrase:

Is there a way to get the four helmets without having to preorder the game four times on the four stores?

As for complaining about free stuff, i just feel that

A) they are messing the stores up, as i would actually be encouraged to buy somewhere else than my favorite or cosest store

B) make some people upset of not being able to use the only one they can get from their only nearby retailer due to sex or just pure taste, while they may had been able/want to use another one they just cant get their hands on

C) Its like releasing those old Mega Special Edition Collector Comic Books with 10 diferent collectors covers. You bet the collector and completists will want them all.

I bet there are more reasons why this practice will upset many players.

The ones who should be complaining are the Gamestop people. Most players are male and even tho some play as girls, they're more likely to want a male helmet. So that's less preorders for Gamestop. If I were them I'd be having a serious chat with my contact at NCsoft right about now.

You should wait for the DVD anyhow, since it will probably have a badge plus exclusive items, just like CoH did.

Well it is called Helm of the Blood Widows, would be kinda silly for male characters to wear'em. And yeah I know you could change the name, but I personally don't have problem w/ some gender specific stuff as long as there are equivalents for the other gender and in general more variety. It's not so much the lack of shoulder kitties that bugs me as the lack of any shoulder animal for males, I mean, why can't we get like a parrot or a crow or something.

There are parrots in CoV so you can make a pirate, already seen a screenshot with one.

This whole discussion re: gender specific gear for Pre-order is really a non-issue, in my opinion.

How many people do you see running around with their CoH preorder run animations?

**edit - This just comes down to the have's and have not's, just like the snowballs during the early Winter Lord event.

There were quite a few people mad because the only way to get a snowball was to take down the WL and they didn't get the snowballs early.

In the long run, I only think 1 of my characters will wear the helm and only as an alt costume.

From personal experiance, GameStop just won the bonus item lottery.

Many female players only play female characters many guys play only female charaters.

Only one Femal helemt, and it's at GameStop.

Actually, all the prestige sprints kinda sucked til Slide came with the DVD. I'm still here but I know I never use my best Buy sprint.

The Electronics boutique sprint rocks with SJ. It's not so good with fly but SJ'ers and SS'ers outnumber fly by alot.
