Now I've got the most basic question in the world. Has any system specs at all been release for CoV? I've heard that the graphics are going to be a improvement on the CoH design. But does anyone know any system specs?
[/ QUOTE ]
The currently estimated system specs can be found at the bottom of this page...

GAH! Behind the curve again! Now I need another 512MB of RAM and a better (whimper) video card again.
Still here, even after all this time!
Really not happy about the helms being gender specific, nope not pleased at all. I really hope the male costume options in CoV are at least on par with female options this time around.

A gift is free. This is not a "gift horse" because the pre-order is a prerequisite. This is a marketing ploy.

Oh, for the love of...before you start quoting the dictionary at us, do you know how pre-ordering even works? It's really amazingly, mind-numbingly simple. Experiments on pregnant women have shown that even fetuses understand the idea. You pay $5 or $10 or whatever now and get $5 or $10 or whatever deducted from the cost of the actual game when you buy it later. In the meantime, you get a bonus CD full of stuff, and you're not spending any more money than you would if you bought the game on release day. Hence: free. You dig?

My question is what are these helmets made out of, do they look decent in real life or like plastic knock off made in china?
I only hope each gender will be able to achieve each helmet. the segregation of man vs. woman really sucks.... SUCKS.

Yeah, no kidding. The one helmet I hate is the only one I could wear on my favourite character.

They look like pixels because they're just in-game costume item choices.

I love the special sprint effects for CoH, great touch, but I hate the costume pieces thing. Any chance the big bad $90 Collector's Edition of CoV will unlock all four helmets? That would make me feel better, especially about paying $90.

Nobody can tell me this gender discussion was not foreseeable. There is a reason the bonus items so far were prestige sprint powers or capes: so everybody could use them!
The decision to make them gender-based is more than stupid. Now I have to get a pre-order at Gamestop for my gf and one at BestBuy for me, since I only play male characters (I originally wanted Blood Widow helmets for us both).
In the country I'm in they're celebrating 25 years of equal rights for women according to law. I wonder if you have heard about it at all in Austin, Texas.

Hmmm, looking at Lord Recluse's avatar - I hadn't realised he'd joined the Cult of the Upturned Spider....
(check the hand position and shape - its the classic evil - all the greats eventually join the CoUS....
The guy is nit-picking about the difference between "Free." and "free with purchase".
And I too hope the remove the gender-discrimination - I had an idea for the bloodwidow helmet, but on a male avatar.
And my guess is that the four "reflectors" on the helmet are duplicated on the otherside, being (*ahem) a mirror of the imagery of a spider with their eight eyes - although the on the road at night explanations is also possible

what i would like to know is, if we preorder instore will beta keys be sent to the stores for us to pick up or will beta keys only be given through the web sites of each store when purchased online at said store ?
[/ QUOTE ]
If it goes like CoH beta or Auto Assault beta (which is HIGHLY likely ), it'll play out like this:<ul type="square">[*]You receive your pre-order box with bonus disk and pre-order registration serial number.[*]Enter the pre-order registration serial by clicking on 'Add Game' at your PlayNC Account Management page. That will put an additional game subscription line on your PlayNC account page below your CoH subscription line.[*]When it is time for the pre-orderers to join beta, you will be sent an email with your beta activation code and a link to download the game client. You will now be able to download the game files and participate actively in beta.[*]This account will remain active during the 'headstart' period, but deactivate on Launch Day until you enter the retail serial code inside the retail box.[*]Profit![/list]
Hope that clears things up for people new to the NCSoft pre-order process. Cheers!

Ok so basicly your saying that after i have already payed 50 some odd bucks for the pre-order i have to pay another 50 some odd for the retail version jsut to continue playing the game after beta on top of the monthly fee? That is [censored] [censored]!! I will [censored] sue if that happens.
Ok, no, you only pay the 50 once. it means you get a spot in open beta, and that you get to D/L game 48 hours before it's availble in the store. Preorder is the same as retail except you get the ingame items to boot.
now more importantly... Helm in-game screenshots are Screenshots 21 and 1. 21 has a baddie sporting the Crab Spider (notice the position of the lights) and 1 has another baddie sporting the Wolf Spider helmet, laying on his back (again distinguishable by location of the red lights) There was one that might have Blood Widows helmet (red costumed villain on right in screen shot 6)
Hopefully this helps everyone out.
NO.
One, you shouldn't be paying $50 bucks for a pre-order. The retailer should be dinging you for $5-10 up front for the pre-order package which goes toward the final price of $50 which should only be paid in full when they ship the retail box to you.
Two, you don't understand that by pre-ordering, you're getting 2 boxes. The pre-order box with the pre-order disk and pre-order serial will come first and soon. The retail box will not be shipped to you or be available for pick-up until Launch Day. Inside that retail box will be the game manual, installation discs (which you won't need because you'll already have the game installed by then), other fluff, and most importantly... the retail serial required to activate your account as of the morning of Launch Day.
So [censored] [censored] you for not asking for clarification before shooting your mouth off!!
I said [censored] [censored] you, sir!
j/k
Someone gave me an idea and i feel rather stupid not to think about it myself. If you bougt from the wrong seller and you want the other helmet, as long as the bonus disc is not sent you can still cancel your purchase.
But I still have a problem : I can't buy it from Gamestop because i'm from Canada! Well maybe EB don't have the right helmet, but at least they are not some kind of intolerent discrimining *auto-censured*
You can ship to Canada from their website, though it is a 15 dollar shipping fee if you purchase the regular, and 20 if you buy the special edition. As long as you don't have a "PO BoX" (meaning they are dropping it off to your actual house) you should be all good. Takes about 3-5 Business days, or more if you are in a remote part of Canada.

Not to keep beating the dead horse with a stick here, but just so my Saturday morning headache isn't clouding my understanding of what will happen... if you have pre-ordered ( meaning just putting a portion of the total cost down like 5-10 bucks as you mentioned earlier ) CoV, the first pre-order box with the pre-order disk & #'s will be released from the place you purchased it from at the time that Beta Testing is ready to start? Is that how it goes? At which point I would assume I complete payment and then on the day of release you would pick up the box with the GAME disk and #'s for your actual game play serial #'s. I've never really seen an explaination of how this would work until today. I've never been chosen for beta-anything before. I just need it explained to me as if I were a four-year old. I'm blonde if that helps explain why.

That was pretty much the opinion my friend had when I told her. She saw it as really sucky that she only has one option for pre-ordering since she only plays female characters. I'm upset because I wanted that helm (Blood Widows) the most (and I mainly play male characters.) I really hope they decide to allow everyone to wear each helm.
Also, I really, really, really think Cryptic/NCSoft needs to make retailers aware of the gender limitations. A majority of the players do not come to these boards and might not find this post (or the pre-order page) and just go straight to EBGames or whereever. I'd really hate to think of the disappointment that'll occur when someone recieves their copy of CoV and they find out they can't even use the pre-order item.

Have a friend in America that wants one of the other helms? Have him pre-order from Gamestop while you pre-order from EBGames (or where ever) and then you can swap the inbox registration codes between each other. No mailing fee required.

Let's say you pay $10 to pre-order. The retailer then ships you the pre-order box which includes a registration code and the bonus CD. Then you input that code into your account and it'll activate that you have pre-ordered. When the point in beta comes where pre-orders are let in, you'll be able to log in based on having put in that code. That's also how the game will know which helm to give you, and that you can play in the head-start. When CoV is actually released, you can go down to your retailer and show them the reciept of the pre-order and they'll give you CoV for $40 ($10 off since you already paid that.) If you order online, it'll be charged to your credit card and the game will be shipped out.
Hope that helps!
Ok...so if I leave Chicago at 10:00 am, heading south at 50 mph, and CompUSA leaves Dallas, heading NE at 60 mph, at what point will my pre-order helmet cross my path, if ever?
j/k
Umm....sorry if I'm being really thick here, but CompUSA is one of the "Other US retailers", right? With the Wolf Spider helm?

-- I know a lot of people won't agree, but I'm a little annoyed they say they're "exclusive" items when they're really not. Sure, they'll be exclusive for a couple months, but then everyone gets them.
This brings up another question, however. ...
-- If I buy CoV and add it to my CoH account, will my villains be able to use the Prestige Sprint powers from pre-order CoH?
[/ QUOTE ]
First issue: I'll bet that to get one of these helmets in-game without preordering involves joining the appropriate sub-faction, so pre-orderers will be distinctive by having the hats available at character creation.
Second issue: This will not happen.
Thanks... this 4-year old just hasn't received a pre-order box yet and I pre-ordered back on July 1st. I'm assuming no one has gotten one yet???
[ QUOTE ]
although there will be a period of exclusivity for these items, we do plan to make them available to our community eventually.

Just like power slide, right? I would not even consider this as going to happen, unless it is already built in that when you join Arachnos, you choose a faction and get the "team" uniform. Sorry, feeling a bit cheeky.
