Ok, we know.
We should have had said something more by now, about Issue 13. But like all great architectural endeavors, Issue 13 is taking on a life of its own and were not quite ready to spill forth all the information.
So, just a quick note to say thanks for your patience, even though we know you may not really be patient. Trust us, its coming; were working on it and theres more great stuff coming (like you havent heard that before, but really, we mean it!)
Thanks!

Bogus, dude. You can't tell us one measly thing? Bogus. -
[ QUOTE ]
Right. Just a head's up.
You know, somebody should badger the devs into doing this, but then you'd be outta job...
[/ QUOTE ]
They don't care. They never have. -
Hey Bruce! You'd better pick a character name, or we'll be forced to assign you one. I vote "The Can Man."
Will the new Mission Architect feature make mission writing easier for you guys?
What was your favorite mission/story arc that you made/worked on? -
[ QUOTE ]
thanks for the praise, everyone. I went a bit nuts getting the demorecords to work (don't ask how long the Rularuu shot took)
[/ QUOTE ]
It was effing WORTH IT. Nice job as always, Chase, et al. -
To reiterate a point I have made twice before, something should be done about the AT names. The collective name for all the Villain Epics is "Soldiers of Arachnos," while the name for the wolf/bane/crab spider AT is "Arachnos Soldier." THIS IS CONFUSING. Please do something about it. Suggestions:
[*] Change the name of the AT forum to something other than "Soldiers of Arachnos." Also, prevent everyone from calling them that.[*] Change the name of the wolf/bane/crab spider AT to "Arachnos Spider." -

Customizable powers? Hell Yes!
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't mean to destroy your enthusiasm, but you're mistaken about this one. -
I wonder, is there any way you could create an interface for this whole process? Like, a screen with a list of all game powers and their icons so someone could easily mix and match them as they pleased.
Or even...
An icon-creating toolbox program that would put icons together from scratch. It would have 3 columns:
Powerset (icon color scheme)
Target (icon border)
and Effect (center icon image) -
Any chance of changing your Shadow Maul icon? The "high damage" circle may make sense if you just look at how much damage the power does, but the "multiple hits" icon was so much more descriptive of how the power actually works.
When you have 10 attack powers all together in your power tray, anything that sets them apart at a glance is a good thing. -

And finally, one of the things Silos mentions you may use the Pillar of Ice and Flame for is "...[to] fulfill whatever destiny you see laid out for yourself." This line is paired with a shot of a villain fighting Snakes, I believe in the "Rescue the Arachnos troops" mission in Mercy Island. Sounds like a reference to Project: DESTINY to me...
[/ QUOTE ]
I think that was just a roundabout way of saying "Villains can do this too." -
[ QUOTE ]
the Rogue Isles may have had a smaller physical footprint than Paragon City at launch, but as far as content goes Mayhem Missions alone provided more original, interactive gamplay than the entirety of CoH did at launch.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nitpick - Mayhem missions were not in at launch. -

So, let me get this straight from a badge earners standpoint.. does this debt wipe apply to the debt recovery badges?
So say, I have none of the debt badges on a toon. I rack up debt to the 550k cap, then when this wipe is put in place, I login and get the Unwavering (100k recovered) and Unyeilding (400k recovered) badges right away?
[/ QUOTE ]
The debt wipe will not count toward debt badges. Why would it?
[/ QUOTE ]
... because those who're working on said badges might be a bit upset about having half their effort undone?
[/ QUOTE ]
Getting killed ten times in a row is not even comparable to the effort required to burn the debt off. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm not keen on NCSoft having total control, as I think in general their priorities don't match with the priorities we've seen in the game in the past.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm curious. Where have you seen a conflict between NC Soft and Cryptic in the past? -
[ QUOTE ]
Does this mean the "Nerfs O' Doom" will get rolled back (i.e. tank nerfs, ED, limiting the number of pets, etc...)?
[/ QUOTE ]
No. -

The only thing I can say is that this smells of power customization. Our likely hood of this happening now is much greater than it ever has been. Wheee!
[/ QUOTE ]
Power Customisation was never declared "wanted, but unlikely" due to anything that has or can change due to a shift in ownership. It is unlikely to happen in the near future because of THE CODE ITSELF.
City of ___ could have been sold to ANYone, and the situation vis-a-vis "power customisation" would remain exactly the same as it was last week.
[/ QUOTE ]
We've been told Power Customization simply because it would mean a huge amount of work. They will have more employees soon. It's not unreasonable to think it might be on the table again. -

Excuse me, but, uh, I'm not quite sure how to say this... Are you me? -
[ QUOTE ]
dont we have like an official thread about this further up?
Oh yeah! we do!
[/ QUOTE ]
This one was first. -
[ QUOTE ]
I've got a good question I think. Who retains ownership of the "Statesman" character? NCSoft or Jack Emmert? This sort of thing could have an effect on future canon and also any "live events" that may or may not be possible in the future.
[/ QUOTE ]
The Statesman character is part of the the City of Heroes intellectual property. He comes with it. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ok, question. Does this mean that Cryptic is no longer going to be developing CoX and that we'll have an all new development team? Or is the new office simply adding extra manpower to the existing development team?
[/ QUOTE ]
Cryptic is no longer going to be developing CoX. The vast majority of the existing CoX development team will now work for NC Soft in their CoX division. -
[ QUOTE ]
So cryptic dumped City of, in favor of MUO?
Is that what happend?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's a rather pessimistic way to say it, but yeah. Cryptic sold CoH so they could focus more on MUO and 'other projects.'
[ QUOTE ]
Is Statesman still with City of? or is he now just an MUO person?
[/ QUOTE ]
Statesman hasn't been with City of _ for a while now. He's been working on other projects within Cryptic.
[ QUOTE ]
MUO is still the competition right?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup. Cryptic no longer has to worry about conflicts of interest. I'm sure that's part of the reason they went through with this deal. -
[ QUOTE ]
I bought COH a few years ago. COV when it came out. I don't expect anything. I wouldn't *argue* if they gave me something, but IMHO the only people who should get some sort of compensation are those who bought seperately, picking up the "other half" within, oh, the last month.
Hell, I bought the COH DVD Edition and COV CE. Bought the COV CE *twice,* in fact. I'm not pissed at all. I got to play *both,* with 12 slots per server, since COV's release. I think that's been pretty cool - and now there won't be any artificial barriers to things like SG entry for *anyone.*
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. People can go ahead and feel screwed if they want, but I've been enjoying this game for years, I don't expect compensation, just continual support for the game I enjoy. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
And if NC Soft creates a multi-game subscription package, then I will happily play both CoH 1 and 2.
[/ QUOTE ]
qft.
Hell, I'd even try out lineage and the more traditional mmos.
[/ QUOTE ]
I probably would too. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I think a sequel is basically inevitable now. But I don't think the original game will be given lower priority.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly, EQ and EQ2 come to mind. EQ is still going strong.
[/ QUOTE ]
And if NC Soft creates a multi-game subscription package, then I will happily play both CoH 1 and 2. -
Without being overly negative, what possible downsides does this deal have?
* Some staff may be unwilling or unable to move to the new office.
* NC Soft bigwigs may usurp more creative control than is healthy for the long-run of the game.
* A true sequel may be released, making upkeep and new content for the original a lower priority.
Anybody else think of anything? Will my purely hypothetical guesses be debunked? -
[ QUOTE ]
So for the people that bought CoH and CoV what do we get.
[/ QUOTE ]
Debt wipe and free prestige.
