And the link that someone had posted for EBGames for the pre-order "collector's edition" was like $80. Is that right? WTH is with that price tag?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because theres more stuff? Like every other Collector's Edition that has come out in the past year?
The extra stuff in the Collector's Edition will at least include 7 CoH/CoV HeroClix figurines. It's up to you to decide whether that is incentive to buy the Collector's Edition. It is not required.
[/ QUOTE ]
Clintonian....normally your info is spot on, however on EBGames' website, they don't say anything about HeroClix figures.

ahah! after feeling like a jack[censored] for pm'ing a certain redname, i think i found our answer, at least for the time being. go back to the deluxe edition page and look way way down at the bottom. the page for gamestop at least has this at the bottom, lawyer-style:
* Collector's Edition Content to be determined
...looks like the less-rabid fans that can wait a while until the extras are known might win out on this one . as for me i'm fighting my click finger hard...it wants the reg edition that it knows about...and now.
Pre-Ordered CoV last Thursday at Gamestop (payday ) The lady had no idea about anything about extra anything coming with it. SHE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THE 2 DAYS EARLY THING!?!?! Well I knew about the 2 days early thing and the Beta testing, but didn't know anything about speical helms or whatever. Anyways as stated many times you don't like the special item you recive for pre-ordering DON'T GET IT. No one is forcing any of you to get it.
On another note, some have already asked, but whats the status on being able to mantain both CoV and CoH, if you have it on one Account can you use the one time card on both games? or do you have to buy a seperate one? pepsi or coke or rootbeer? (Rootbeer for me, I dunno random question just kinda popped out there)
Just thought I'd get it out that the CoV preorder box just went to Active status in the GameStop computer. That means it is more than likely shipping out.

I got a new question. There's a CoV available at Amazon.com, however it doesn't specifically say pre-order - does that mean it's not, i.e. it's just a way to "reserve" CoV, or is it just that amazon doesn't specifically write pre-order but if I order this item it'll be like getting pre-order?
(Heh, I'm not sure if that sentence made sense )
And if it's in fact not pre-order then the next question is, does amazon do pre-order deals in general?
kthxbye
[/ QUOTE ]
amazon.com will let you pre-order anything they plan on carrying once they have "part numbers" for them. This is not the City of Villains pre-order deal, however.
Another example of what Amazon.com has for preorder is Revenge of the Sith (widescreen) DVD
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
i hope we can change the colors on these helmets..
because the Arachnos Mystic Helm is totally ready for a yellow A.I.M. paintjob!
woo!
Hey DoubleAction, under the status for my order on gamestop it just says "pre-release 10/31/05" so did yours change from that to "active?" Where did ya find the status at?
Is there a way to only pay a downpayment on the EB site? I looked through it and it looks like if you order off the site, you have to pay it all up front.

For the status of the game itself or the preorder boxes? They were two seperate SKUs. To find the CoV Preorder box, just go into Inventory Lookup and search for "premium, city" and then you should find it no problem.
I'm not quite sure what you mean. I have pre-ordered the Collectors Edition from Gamestop.com a day or two ago. I only have one "order number" so I'm not sure what you mean by inventory lookup. Anyways, next to status it only shows their pre-release date. I'm sure I'll get my disc next week sometime. *anxiously waiting*

-Crab Spider Battle Helmet: EB Games (male helmet)
-Helm of the Blood Widows: GameStop (female helmet)
Now I have to CANCEL my EB reserve and make one at GameStop. I am a female. No need for a male helm.

Er, oh, I thought you were looking in the GameStop computer and wanting to find the premium disc SKU.
You see, even premium items like the CoV preorder disc has a listing and release date in our GameStop computers. So what I mean is, the CoV Preorder disc went from having a release date to being Active, meaning it's shipped. I got my info from the GameStop computer, I didn't preorder through the website. While the website is a seperate entity from the retail stores, I'd guess you'll see your preorder box in a week or two.
(This is barring the act-of-God that there was a mistake and the warehouse doesn't really have the disc, and it was a big slip up on GameStop's part. This is very, very rare to happen, but it has happened.)

The only thing that I saw on the entire site was a full payment only option. Thats what I ended up doing, but as some people here have metioned, maybe you only pay for the shipping and handling fee...and later when it's actually recieved, the game fee. Not sure on that though.
And
hmyeeah about that, I'm going to need you to push your desk a little closer to the wall (Then snatches that pretty red stapler)
Hmm. Idle curiousity.
If one, such as myself, were to become a big preorder nut and preorder from GameStop, EB, BestBuy AND CompUSA, would they be able to 'Upgrade' one account to allow for all four helms?
Just thinkin'.

No. The preorder is pretty much a CD key. if you preorder from a bunch of dif places, all it's going to do is give you multiple PlayNc Accounts. But the good news is if you don't like the Helm you get from your preorder, you can do certain things in the gsme to get the one you do want
Interesting Double, so now we know you're a Gamestop employee *evil grin* haha!! Wel, the website says that the bonus disc ships next week so I should have it by next Friday. I've never had a problem with Gamestop online in terms of them being slow or me not getting a game from them right away.

Okay everyone - I'm back with more info. You can check out pictures of all the helmets here!
Regarding the other issues you've raised in this thread regarding the genders of the helmets and associated issues... although there will be a period of exclusivity for these items, we do plan to make them available to our community eventually. So if you can't get your hands on a particular costume piece right now, we will announce at a later date how you can acquire all the helmets.
Have a great weekend!

I'll never understand why the difference in the pre-orders. To be honest it sucks, on multiple levels, an dis very limiting to the consumer. I for one was really pissed way back when I pre-ordered CoH. Why, because it was after I ahd already bought and regiestered my pre-order that I found out about the different prestiege powers for different locations. It sounds to me like it's some way for the devs to see who's buying their game where. Now the flashy sprint became moot point after lvl 14 and you're able to get an actual travel power so it's easily forgotten. But this is a part of your villians costume for crying out loud. Frankly it should have offered it as a reward for completing some mission for that respective villian, as a sign of your alliegence to them. to be honest these multiple choise on pre-orders just lessens my want to buy that pre-order. Case in point, Guild Wars pre-orders had different weapons, not bad, any class could use them, but only one class could gain the real benefit from it. Instead of making us choose where to buy the damn pre-order, the choice should be which item do I want for my character should be made at character creation, not in the damn store. Let's say I wanted the Crab Spider Battle Helmet, the problem of no local EBgames arises though, yes there's the online order, but say I dont trust my creditcard number to those onlne stores. (Wait so how do you pay for CoH then? Game cards, Duh!) So I'm essentially screwed. BTW what about the fact that Gamestop is going through the legal BS part of them buying EBgames? Gamespot reports that the 2 companies expect the merger to be finished before the end of the year. How will that effect the pre-orders?
Basicly the point of this whole post comes down to that this multiple pre-order bulls#!t is just that, and is bad practice. May the idiot who thought it up rot in hell for all eternity.
Your opinion is duly noted.

Swellguy - your even more right then you have said so far.
Its not even as "free" as no cost with purchase.
No additional cost with purchase is usually an incentive to buy existing stock; here you are making a up-front payment, giving the store cash it can use in part to offset the orders of the non-pre sold copies and at the same time guaranteeing you are buying one copy thus making your copy a 0 risk sale. You are also giving up money now for no immediate benefit, which is a contract 101 detriment.
A normal sale is a large risk: buy at wholesale - hope each copy sells
$5-10 dollars is a higher percentage of wholesale cost then retail price and so you pay their cost in part upfront.
A pre-order ensures (or nearly so) a sale and gives the store operating cash to use against existing stock without selling anything.
Pre-Orders with a down payment are AMAZINGLY good deals for stores. Any incentive which is tied to one deserves to be treated like any thing else in a customer contract and if it seems like a raw deal the customer should say so. Acting like they should feel honored for the advantage they are giving the store is just wrong.

A nice arguement... to bad you can get your $5.00 back in cash if you wish to cancel your pre-order.
Yes, there is no obligation. Yes, that means it is free. Yes, that means NCsoft is fronting the bill for the pre-order boxes, not gamestop, eb, BB, etc. The retailers pay for shipping and handling on the pre-order boxes. That's it.

The ones who should be complaining are the Gamestop people. Most players are male and even tho some play as girls, they're more likely to want a male helmet.
[/ QUOTE ]
Er NO. :P I am a girl (woman) and I want a female *not MALE* helm. Same with my 2 friends. So please don't assume. I am glad SOMEONE is coming out with a female one.
Bonus disk ships to canada right? and please dont tell me in about 2 weeks...
ARGGGH! THIS SUCKS! Why do I get the [censored] end of the deal just because I don't have a credit card?!?! I am stuck with the stupid blood widow helmut, DAMN YOUZ LORD RECLUSE!!! This sucks, I haven't even planned a female character, little alone figured out how the hell that ugly [censored] mask will match anything...
Great I already pre-ordered and i now find out I got a Chick Helmet. that kinda sux
