More info about CoV pre-orders
Well, I ordered from EB Games off of the internet, checked 5-10 business days, since overnight is pointless, and hopefully it'll get here this week... Should've just gone to best buy ><
LOL, for some reason i'm getting the idea everyone is forgetting they don't HAVE to use the bonus helmets on their character... you may even find them ugly in the first place
Like Underworld? Then take a look at! http://moonid.net/account/recruitmen.../monstersgame/
And don't forget to join the fight for our City! http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index....ard,134.0.html

well my order says:
Order Number: 43740xx
Order Date: 8/11/2005 6:44 PM
Order Status: Waiting For Product
so i dont think those [censored] are going to send it to me..
Just posted this over in another forum in answer to similar comments ... but the guy at EB where I paid full for pre-order told me to wait for a call when they come in, and he had no clue when that would be - or even if I'd get a box with Pre-Order.
So... buyer experiences may vary. I for one - will not be purchasing through EB again.
Well I pre-ordered mine from Gamestop. I've been staring out my window since yesterday waiting for my mailman to come to see if my bonus CD is here. So far nothing. Oh well, at this point I'm exhausted of being impatient, I figure the bonus disc will get here when it gets here.
As far as the debate on whether it's better to order online and have pick up in store or shipped, well I'm with Clintonian on this one. If I have to wait an extra few days after it goes live because I didn't receive my box on launch day, then maybe it's for the better lol! *Referring to the Carnival Comment*
Let me get this straight...
You cut a deal with the retailers ... and allow each of them to have a specific "add-on" for pre-orders, which was
A) Gender Specific
and...
B) Not even all that cool?
Frankly - I pre-ordered for the game so could not care lick one about the helmet. It's actually pretty lame as most helmets suck - the last thing I want in my customizable toon is something that'll make them look like everyone else... but Jeezus Jerrry Lewis ... what MORON thought up this PR move?
Could you possibly alienate more people with this "cool give-away"??
I can see making a deal with the retailers so each has their own different add on. But frankly - I'd have rather had some kind of cool Aura instead of the helmet I can only use on Male toons.
Sheesh ... go find your guy in Marketing and slap him. He's an idiot.
******Not ment as reply to this poster, just a question in general*********
So, I preordered CoV. I've read something about "pre-order boxes". I've yet to see any such thing at my local Gamestop. The only "bonus disk" I've seen is the "free trial version" of CoH called the "bootleg disk". When/how are we supposed to get the info on the beta testing? With the game stores listing Holloween as the release date for CoV, shouldn't we BE in beta already?
For those wondering where the game is in or not:
I live in St Louis, MO. Smack dab in the middle of the country.
I went to Best Buy today for printer ink, and was pleasantly surprised to see lots of Pre-Order boxes of COV on the shelves.
However, It's not the helmet I like the best, so I passed on buying it at Best Buy.
I didn't come out empty handed, though. In addition to boring printer ink, I walked out with Sin City and a funky yellow plastic Homer Simpson face shaped box containing Season 6 disks.
Then I went to the EB Games that's 1.5 miles from my house, according to the Mapquest feature on EB's web site, and the guy in the store looked on the computer and said 11/9/05. I told him that that is the game, and not the Pre-Order, and he said that he then understood what I was talking about (not sure if really did undertand), but he said they don't have it in and he doesn't know when they will. I just looked at the EB Games web site, and the Pre-Order page says it ships 11/9/05, so something's wrong there. [EDIT: I just looked at the page again and it says it ships the week of 8/15/05, aka this week]
Anyway, all this for a box with a code that isn't even usable yet, and a box containing special access to a helmet I'm not even sure if I know what I'm looking at in the picture.
It seems that the Crab Spider Battle Helmet's picture is a profile shot with the face turned to the left. Am I right?
If so, it looks the coolest, plus I think Captain Mako looks like the coolest villain anyway.
[EDIT: I found a better picture of helmet similar to the Blood Widows helmet on Gamespot here
and one similar to the Wolf Spider Helmet here
Also, does anyone know if the helmet is something we pick in character creation that is a perma feature of our toons, or is it something we can put on and take off at will?

These 'exclusive' in-game items have to ride a fine line. They shoudn't be too cool and they definitely shouldn't provide a decisive character development advantage. Otherwise, you have non-pre-order subscribers down the line squealing bloody murder. (I'm not sure why. Seems like a fair trade and a valid opportunity cost, but human nature, eh?)
Admittedly, the choice of going with exclusive headgear seems odd to me, too. Eh. Just ignore that feature and buy the darn game if you want to play!

Yea & the Prestige Run was any better. I think the helmets are a far improvement.
So I got my pre-order box from the back room at Best Buy cuz I got a buddy working the info desk. Anyways it gives a web address to go to create in account and it just so happens that page doesn't exist yet, so all you who are worried about not having your boxes yet, don't worry, cuz there is nothing you can do with it yet.
HAHA scratch that I just put the disc in and it took me there, all you guys should get mad again, but don't post it on the board there is no point in giving Alexa or anyone else a hard time about something that doesn't concern them.

And the link that someone had posted for EBGames for the pre-order "collector's edition" was like $80. Is that right? WTH is with that price tag?
[/ QUOTE ]
Eh? $59 total, here...am i going to be missing something in the box (I was really looking forward to the Heroclix)?

They finally took away the linking to Best Buy and Compusa as neither went to a COV link nor could you find the product with a search. The Best Buy by close to me neither had it out nor knew anything about it, the Compusa couldn't tell me when it would be in either. Think I will wait while the dust settles.
Some are legends because of their posts, others just post becoming legends in their own mind.

Sure there is, I just added my pre-order code to my NCSoft account, and it now shows my account has COV-preorder on it. You don't have to go to the pre-reg site, you just need to go to your normal NCSoft account page. Oh, and I got mine at Best Buy, they had about 30 pre-order boxes on the shelf.
I went to Best Buy yesterday and they didn't know anything about the City of Villains pre-order. I clicked on the Best Buy link from the CoV website last night and found no mention of it on their website at all.
Is it not available for pre-order at Best Buy after all?
Well I've been goind through all the many screenshots out there of CoV and oddly enough, I think just from what I've seen the Wolf Spider helmet looks good to me:
http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen001.jpg
It makes a big difference to me being able to see what they look like in game.
Well, I preordered it at GameStop and didn't get a box (the guy actually said he didn't know if I'd get any of the preorder stuff) so I went to Best Buy and got it there. I still have to go cancel my GameStop preorder, but at least Best Buy had the preorder box with everything in it.
Got mine at Best Buy yesterday. $10 up front then I pay the difference when the game comes out. I also registered for the CoV preorder at the NCSoft website. I just wonder how the CoV beta testing will work? Will you log into CoH and then pick the CoV beta test server? Will we need to install a separate program at later time?
seperate cov beta tester updater on your desktop

What about the fact that Best Buy is not carrying the game on there website? Do we have to buy the game in store?

Call the Local store and go to the Music/Media/Computer software department, have the kids tapk some keys and they can tell you a price and a date if it isn't in the system they will just say ummmmmmmmmm.

Hi!! Do we need to purchase an additional account to play cov if we already have coh. Will there be an additional monthly fee if we play coh and cov?? Are the computer requirements the same for cov as they are for coh?? [color=blue] [ /color]
Deleted... saw my answer was as goofy as the one it was parodying and not half as well written.
--- move along -- nothing to see here -----
I find no complaint with various stores offering different helmets.
I find issue with the constant gender specific costume options. If my female villain wants to wear a crab spider helmet then she should be able to do so - and smoke cigars. If my male villain wants to impress Ghost Widow with his awesome Widow helmet - he should have that option as well.
Boys can wear anything they want. Girls can wear anything they want.
The more you limit your players' choice - the more you alienate that player and the less money you'll make.
