Ironically Fallout 3 ran just fine on this machine on some of the higher graphic settings. It is just CoH that has these problems. That's what makes it so frustrating.
Here's some specs from dxdiag.

After giving it alot of thought, I've decided the best way to solve this problem is to cancel my CoH account. It has gone beyond being rediculas that I have to put this much work into a game to play it where there are plenty of other games by other companies out there that will run just fine straight out of the box. No patches, no rolling back drivers none of the bull crap I have been putting up with from CoH for far too long.
This message is for the devs out there. Until you get your act together and fix the game to work right, you're not getting my money. The fact that I have had to take advice from the games community to get the game to run at all after all this time is just beyond lazy. I dont care what you have to say about how hard it is to make a game work on certain operation systems or specific machien specs. There are alot more companies out there that do make sure it works on this variety of system specs and that makes them more deserving of being paid for it then you are. -
I wish I could give more info on this, but when I log into the game and attempt to runa round the game crashes. ANd by hard crash I mean my whole system crashes and I'm recquired to power down the system in order to get it working again. Vista is up to date, ( I know game has issues with it, but it's never taken the whole machine down before like this.) Vid card drivers were updated as well. (Was using old ones that would run teh game before last patch, now old ones and new ones have the same crash.)
Is this happening for anyone else? -
Just installed CoH/V on my brother's PC so he could play the trial. Well he can't log in to the game, said it was an incorrect password, we've reset the password three times to try and get it to log in to no avail. I tried logging in on my account and it also told me my password was incorrect. We dont have caps lock on so we're really confused at this. Any idea what's wrong?

Maybe this will help with that alt tab problem. Running with a Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb and while playing with the "SHader Quality" did not affect the problem when I turned it from High to low. But when I quit out because I did manage to recreate the problem(managed to recreate it alot, sometime it fixed itself other times it did not, in this case it did not fix itself) and it wasn't going away when I went to start the game again it came up with some OpenGL error. Stupid me I forgot to write the wording of this message down, but going. The launcher would come up, but I could not start CoH. After doing a restart it ran fine, but my remembered accoun name was gone. no biggie, but it also reset some of my options, resolution among them. Reseting that back to desktop size(1280 by 1024) I was able to alt-tab again with out hassle. However some of the eye candy settings had been reduced to their low settings again. Playing further from there when I took Shader Quality back up to High the messed up screan came back too. However then lowering the shader quality back to low, did not fix the problem, in fact it did the error again where I had to restart the system again to get it to launch. That's as far as I am on it right now, sounds like I may just leave that shader quality option at low, to keep an ease of access to Vent & iTunes, unless there's a way to fix it.
BTW great job with the guide it has helped out CoH/V performance, I hope this info can help out in some way. -
I'll never understand why the difference in the pre-orders. To be honest it sucks, on multiple levels, an dis very limiting to the consumer. I for one was really pissed way back when I pre-ordered CoH. Why, because it was after I ahd already bought and regiestered my pre-order that I found out about the different prestiege powers for different locations. It sounds to me like it's some way for the devs to see who's buying their game where. Now the flashy sprint became moot point after lvl 14 and you're able to get an actual travel power so it's easily forgotten. But this is a part of your villians costume for crying out loud. Frankly it should have offered it as a reward for completing some mission for that respective villian, as a sign of your alliegence to them. to be honest these multiple choise on pre-orders just lessens my want to buy that pre-order. Case in point, Guild Wars pre-orders had different weapons, not bad, any class could use them, but only one class could gain the real benefit from it. Instead of making us choose where to buy the damn pre-order, the choice should be which item do I want for my character should be made at character creation, not in the damn store. Let's say I wanted the Crab Spider Battle Helmet, the problem of no local EBgames arises though, yes there's the online order, but say I dont trust my creditcard number to those onlne stores. (Wait so how do you pay for CoH then? Game cards, Duh!) So I'm essentially screwed. BTW what about the fact that Gamestop is going through the legal BS part of them buying EBgames? Gamespot reports that the 2 companies expect the merger to be finished before the end of the year. How will that effect the pre-orders?
Basicly the point of this whole post comes down to that this multiple pre-order bulls#!t is just that, and is bad practice. May the idiot who thought it up rot in hell for all eternity.
