More info about CoV pre-orders

why in the WORLD don't you people release the collection of all 4 helmets to all preorders, and stop with this nonsense?
Its too late to do that now, all the pre-order bonus discs have already been shipped, they arrive in 3 days. Too late to change it unless they just unlock them all in game.
Can you make it possible for us to add all pre-order helmets to one account? It was bad enough we could only choose one sprint power, but these are helmets and soooo much more important.
But then the items wouldn't be exclusive and the stores wouldn't feel special anymore.

There were quite a few people mad because the only way to get a snowball was to take down the WL and they didn't get the snowballs early.
In the long run, I only think 1 of my characters will wear the helm and only as an alt costume.

While I agree it is a non-issue to me (as I don't care for any of the helmets), I believe those that asked about the gender-specific costume pieces have a legitimate concern. Its another instance where a "known" quality of life issue has been overlooked once again by the devs.
This is not analogous to the snowballs. Now if only male heroes could get snowballs from beating a WL, then its the same. Nothing stopped a particular gender from getting a snowball. The only thing that stopped you is if you didnt bother to log on for the month that WLs were running rampant.
An SG mate of mine is a woman, she plays only heroines. She ordered from EB Games; even if she never, ever was planning on wearing a helmet, the bonus is now locked out for her, unless she rolls a male character. Is that fair? Obviously she didn't pre-order for the bonus. But in effect, the current set-up is telling her, "hey no bonus for you, sorry."
I'm not seeing anything for CompUSA or Best Buy when I click on the links and nothing is popping up for city of villain searches on these sites...

Actually what they are shipping you is a cdkey that will declare you a "Pre-Order Player that ordered from store X" that will then unlock something in the game for you. ALL clients need to have the item in the game anyway for display purposes, its just that your cdkey will determine if you have access to it in the character creation screen.
So there is still plenty of time to correct the situation in any way they find fit...
I doubt they are gonna make all 4 available to the masses just because you demand it. They didn't with the prestige sprint powers. I didn't get into CoH until the DVD edition came out and I never got those powers and don't feel left out or anything. Personally, I like that they are doing it this way, means everyone want be running around with the same stuff. I've been clamoring for more variety and this is a step in the right direction.
Now pre-order questions that have yet to be answered:
1) When are Best Buy and CompUSA going to get CoV on their sites?
2) Will a DVD version be released at the same time? Is the CE version a CD or DVD version?
3) Can you pre-order within the store and still get the beta bonuses?

I think Ryko wants it to be possible to buy four copies of the game and apply the four serial numbers to one account, like we could do with the CoH DVD.

Regarding the other issues you've raised in this thread regarding the genders of the helmets and associated issues... although there will be a period of exclusivity for these items, we do plan to make them available to our community eventually. So if you can't get your hands on a particular costume piece right now, we will announce at a later date how you can acquire all the helmets.

wha-?! the blood widow helmet is female only? that's not so cool. i don't have an aversion to making a female character ( i actually prefer to do so) but that nixes what i had in mind. granted i didn't get the idea until yesterday, but oh well.
yeah, i know it's a free incentive, but i question the logic here though.
first they announce the pre-order, mentioning 2 of the possible incentives. they have to know full well many people, (myself included) will pre-order as soon as they can.
THEN they announce the other 2 incentives, and clarify they're all gender specific?

1. That all depends on when those companies decide to update their sites, they have been given the ok to do so they are just lazy bastids.
2. No news on a DvD version yet, the CE edition is just the normal edition with some goodies.
3. When pre-ordering CoH you could, they actually had pre-order boxes on the shelf and you "bought" them for whatever the cost was to pre-order the game. The boxes gave you the cd with some info on CoV and the serial key which gets you in near the end of beta and the 2 day head start. The key also unlocks the prestige item.

AFAIK, it was impossible to have more than 1 of the original 4 prestige sprints, because each pre-order would be linked to a seperate account; you couldn't merge the accounts to have all 4 prestige sprints on 1 character. It would be the same in this case.
Edit: Well, with the new info it looks like I'm sort of wrong. It seems everyone will be able to get these... eventually.
I KNEW they were going to be based on the factions! This way you will probably be able to get them through joining the factions later on as well.
I wish that since there was only one female helmet that it would have been included with all of the pre-order. I know a lot of people who have male and female characters that would like to have a special helmet, not just for one gender. (Maybe another unique helm was made for the retailer that was going to have the helmet for only the female..., then every retailer would get the female helmet too. 
)

Thanks for the info, Alexa, just in time for me to cancel my pre-orders with GameStop.
Though it is the most interesting looking of the 4 helmets, I prefer to play male characters so I'd never get any use out of it.
Looks like I'll be pre-ordering from Best Buy or EBGames.

We know that it should come with the heroclix figures but other questions remain, like will the game be on CD or DVD? Any chance that the Collector's Edition gets all 4 helmets...?

I did leave, but I'm back, back from the wide world of mmo's. CoH was my first and now that I'm back I realize it was a mistake to leave. I pre-ordered and was in beta but they were out of bonus discs so I never got my sprint, my friend pre-ordered the day before me and got the last one.
