Hey guys,
I wanted to take a couple minutes to let you know that we aware of this issue. We want people to at least know where the PvP zones are and how to get to them. We dont want players to feel forced into PvP combat. To address this issue we are going to take several steps. Players will be sent to liaisons that will be outside the PvP zones. They will explain that there is mission content available from a contact within the zone but will not, I repeat will not, force you to that contact. If the player wishes to go in the zone and find the contact they are free to do so. Just like a Task/Strike Force contact, PVP contacts dont need to be introduced. As soon as a player clicks on them, they will offer mission content.
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe go as far as making it an account option ( along with the Hollows, etc )? Maybe even put it in the Options for each char., to be alerted when you reach the appropriate level?
If one char has talked to these contacts, then I know about them and their content...
Being an Altoholic, I loath wasting time having to run to talk to Wincott for content I rather skip... -

Still angry! San Jose is not close to Tampa.
[/ QUOTE ]
And they are thankful every day...
( Why did I move away?Oh, yeah. Job transfer 3 years ago!
I guess if CoH had been running then, I would have thought twice about it.
)

Do you know the way to San Jose?

Drive west for 5 hrs, hang a right and drive for 6 hrs. -

Don't you have anyone to argue with at home?
[/ QUOTE ]
No my cat just stares at me and occassionally licks his crotch. I'm hoping no one does that when reading my posts.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ummm.... I can't see you and I'm nowhere near your cat while reading your posts...
I think it's interesting that some of the costume items people want are neither Heroic nor Villainous and probably half the civilian NPC's have these items in their closets at home( fishnet stockings, leather jackets, whips, chains... )
And why would Villians get Longbow shoulder pieces and Heroes not?
The only real problem I see, is that Serge down at the local Icon may quit when he's forced to add these "villainous" costume items to his inventory... -

Now, if what Statesman says about making them be available to people who own both games, that's fine with me. I just don't want people who didn't buy one or the other to be able to benefit from the one they didn't buy. I think that's fair.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, well I'll agree with that. I'll be happy if I can get the CoV costume options in CoH only if I buy CoV.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I won't agree. In case no one noticed, there is more to CoV than just costume options. AT's, zones, foes, just to name a few.
There are quite a few costume pieces from CoV that I could use for my Heroes without turning them "evil" looking. Eye coverings ( not the plates or BW ones ), armor, supernatural faces...
Besides, who is getting ripped of worse:
A CoH owner paying full price to upgrade a few costume options?
or A CoV owner who doesn't feel "special" because a "few", non-gameplay affecting, items are common to both games?
Mr. Statesman? You gave us ED and ED now give us EDDIE ( Enhanced Duds Diversification-Include Everything! ) -

I don't see the newspaper working quite so well for us...
'I see in the paper that the bank was robbed yesterday. If only I'd been there in time to do something about it.'
Nah, a police radio or something of that ilk is a much better idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
HAHAHAHA!
Good call on the police radio. Or maybe some kind of Freedom Phalanx emergency channel. It'd work like the newspaper in CoV, but you could have the hero pull out a field-radio (similar to the one Merc Masterminds use to summon their minions).

The CCG will intially be all hero-vs-hero.
[/ QUOTE ]
Let me be the first to say that I believe all the I6 nerfs are because of CCG balance issues.

DOH! Beat me to it by 3 hrs!I said as much in my reply in the Phase Shift thread, although I was talking about I5...
[ QUOTE ]
BTW: I think these changes are being made, not only for PvP(CoV), but also to solidify the rules set for the P&P and card games. Kinda hard to nerf those after printing. I'm guessing we are beta testing those as well.

Just because you're in SG mode doesn't mean you automatically get Prestige. You still have to do things.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can you say "writs"?
IMO SG Mode should be a costume slot, not just a color change. When the SG stuff was put in, the costume changing stuff ( Icon ) wasn't ready. I'm guessing colors was the easy way to go at that point.
Now that costume changing is in, make SG Mode a costume slot... -
Yeah! What's the deal with these store based items? All NCsoft games are like this.
What store in their right minds would agree to this? What if the item your store had was the boner ( least desireable ) item? Can they sue NCsoft for loss of revenue?
Better to allow the player pick the item they want at character creation.
And what about the Collectors Edition? Will you be pulling a CoH on that one and releasing it later, in the hopes that players will buy it also, along with the preorder? -
As horse says, "No sir, I don't like it."
Anybody know what prompted this nerf?
My thoughts on the matter. In no particular order. YMMV ( I just hope I don't contradict myself.)
+DEF should be categorized by what confers it. +DEF from mobility ( Hover, acrobatics, combat jumping, etc. ) is not equal to +DEF from stealth. Although they both = damage avoidance.
Mobility +DEF DOES protect vs AOE; Stealth +DEF does not
Maybe a new buff called AGL is needed to distinguish these +DEF types from each other. Or sub categorize DEF into DEF/AGL (DEF_A) ( DEF/AGL = mobility DEF ) and DEF/Stealth ( DEF_S ), ( if it already isn't.)
Stealth = The Predator.
Low DEF_S. Low detection avoidance.
You kinda know where he is so you can attack him but with difficulty. Distance plays a factor. Closer = less DEF_S. Striking a blur with a hammer is a sure thing, no DEF_S. DEF_A still applies. Movement lowers DEF_S.
Invisibility = The Shadow.
High HIGH DEF_S, High detection avoidance.
Unless you are smart enough to pick up the signs of his presence ( sounds, sound pressure changes, breathing, footsteps, seeing foot prints, ) you can't even touch (target)him. Him hitting you, gives away his position, but only until he moves out of range. ( I guess the Shadow needed to become visible to punch someone, so that is a give-away ) Fast, loud movement lowers DEF_S. Slow, careful movement has no effect on DEF_S.
Breaking LOS should return DEF_S to normal. Bosses and LTs. may know what to look for so there is no guarantee of Full DEF_S vs them.
Walking in water is a give-away for any stealth and should cancel DEF_S and detection avoidance.
Not all stealths are the same. Stealths confered by "clouds" should give +DEF_S only, not detection avoidance, since you don't know where the target is in the cloud, but you can see the cloud. Maybe minions are stupid enough fall for it ( "Sure is gettin' steamy in here!") and not realize what the cloud is but maybe not LTs and definately not Bosses or AV's. ( "That's not natural, It must be a Hero, you maroons!" )
BTW, Statesman asked for input, so zzzzzip-it.
ps. You have no defense unless there is an attack. -

Atlas is flat. Galaxy seems better suited to people who at least have the first few minor-travel powers, such as hover, combat jumping or even hurdle/swift. Otherwise its a bit annoying to get around.
[/ QUOTE ]
Alot of people have said the same, and I have to wonder: Are you sure?
I think both areas are more similiar than people realize: Take Atlas, spin it 90 degrees, and bingo! You have Galaxy!
Galaxy: flat North; wall south
Atlas : Wall west; flat east
As a plus: the Galaxy wall is one-sided, you can jump off in one direction and it doesn't run across the entire zone! In Atlas you have to climb in both directions ( or run to the tunnel ).
Of course there are tricks to getting around in both places and they don't involve travel powers, just a little experience. Knowing how to use the ramps in the Atlas wall and where the stairs are on the Galaxy wall...
Another Galaxy City plus is that the Trainer is right outside the building with your first contact. No need to run around or navigate over the pedestal of the Atlas statue, dodging costume contests along the way.
And on Pinnacle at least, in Galaxy City there is a definate lack of chatter on the broadcast channel which is nice.
Things I never hear in Galaxy City: ( and don't you guys go over there and mess it up)
"Get your first badge! Free TP to the top of Atlas!" ( I guess people don't realize how much sweeter the accomplishment is when you can do it yourself! )
"Next Costume contest in 10 Minutes!" Yeah, thanks for the warning!
"10000 influence to the first person to find me" Here's an idea, nobody look and see how long he stays out there!
