What's Wrong With Galaxy City?
Personally, I'd prefer it remained the way it is. As it stands, I can roll up an alt in Galaxy with little worry of someone running up, KSing me, then attributing it to the fact that "I have a habit of finding enemies." *Sigh* I remember the first idiot who did that to me. It's amazing how persuasive thinly veiled threats against ones loved ones, hometown, even their whole planet can be
I'd never use a nuke in a superhero universe. You nuke a city, you kill 1.5 million people minus one. The last guy not only gets superpowers from the explosion, but ones that let him survive a nuke...and wow, is he torqued off

im not really sure why Galaxy is always empty..
It might be because Galaxy doesn't have easy access to the hollows??
I always go with Galaxy unless there's a starting contact I particularly want from Atlas.
And every time I start in Atlas, I'm reminded again of WHY I go with Galaxy, because I end up with a mission at level 3 to trek all the way to the west end of the map, over that huge dropoff into the level 6 territory.
When I first started the game, I was given a choice to talk to some guy named "Back Alley Brawler" or one "Ms. Liberty."
I thought, "which one would I rather look at?"
There y'go.
EDIT: Edited to turn this post into English.
Eidolons play a part in it i think...
nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd, ya know.
Plus that big atlas statue is the shizz
I believe simply because Atlas was to be the sole "entering" point for all the heroes when they completed the Outbreak tutorial in the beat of CoH. Back Alley Brawler was originally going to be the NPC trainer for King's Row; however, the developers saw the need to an additional "training ground" for new heroes so Galaxy City was born, BAB was relocated, and they created Blue Steel (my favorite) to be the NPC in King's Row.
That's why Atlas looks all flashy with the giant statue of Atlas and seems to be the "center" of Paragon City and Galaxy seems like an afterthought.
Personally, I like it that way. Just as someone else mentioned, you have that dropoff on the west side of Atlas that is a pain in the butt everytime you have to run missions there. The only pain about Galaxy is that it's loaded with Vahz and their toxic damage.

I'unno, I've just always liked Atlas Park better than Galaxy City. I think it's just better layed out than GC. It's more grand, more majestic, something that newbies could look at in awe. Galaxy City is the vanilla starting place. It's bland, it's boring, and it doesn't have a statue of Atlas.
Galaxy City is a bit less forgiving than Atlas Park. With Vahzilok practically on every street corner, why would people want to go there? I go there to escape the KSing lowbies that haunt Atlas Park, but I know to avoid Vahz and I know where they usually spawn.
Thats my take on why people avoid Galaxy... Vahzilok.

I'm a proud carebear.
Galaxy City has more action in Virtue than it does across all servers most likely simply because that's where the RP usually goes on. Atlas Park will always be the number 1 stop for any new player and as such will remain the busy metropolis slum that it is today.
It's the blimp.
Why ask me? All of my characters start in Galaxy.
i started a new character in galaxy city once - but for some reason my contacts kept sending me to atlas park - and with only sprint for travel grrr
I started a character in Atlas Park once. Once... and never again.
Galaxy City just seems like a dead end.
Even if someone starts in Galaxy if they get sent to Atlas for some reason they will get stuck in that huge sucking vortex that is the space under the statue of Atlas.
My guess is because Altlas Park is the first choice and Galaxy City is the second. A lot of people seem to just roll with the default, especially if they don't know the difference.

Atlas Park - Ms Liberty and Big [censored] Atlas statue
Galaxy - BAB and Vahzilok.. no brainer
Take a dash of Illuminati, add a sprinkle of Mafia and just a touch of Omnipresnce and a healthy helping of mob violence...

It's in AP you can pick up a bunch of extra Inf by participating in various costume contests and similar player-run events. Because galaxy is dead, there are no such activities there... It's also much easier to pick up a team there.
Yeah, definitely, if don't know the difference, they're probably going to choose the first one. That's what I did when I first started. Since then, however, I tend to think of it from the POV of my character, and all of them prefer Galaxy, for some reason or another. Plus, there's a bonus to the lower population of Galaxy (don't have to deal with KSers, mobs are free, etc.).
No one goes to Atlas Park any more, it's always too crowded.
Most players are heterosexual males. Give them the choice between a blonde and a big buff guy and well, it's not really an issue.
Personally, I used to like going to GC, but ever since they put the Arena there Broadcast is even worse than in AP thanks to all the PVP kiddies.

If you rolled a character before you know that when you reach lvl 5 you will be sent to the Hollows and that means through Atlas Park at that lvl. So to reduce long travels (= more action faster XP) you start in Atlas.
Everyone should start in Atlas the first time they play the game.
That said. I always start in GC now. You level like twice as fast in GC. On a good day, Atlas is devoid of mobs
Besides, you don't get your Hollows mission from your first contact, so usually you have to run from KR to hollows no matter where you start (*muttergrumble*)

Playing tonight I noticed how, on the Justice Server anyways, Atlas and Galaxy are like night and day. Atlas Park is bustling with activity and crowded with low level heroes, while Galaxy City is quiet and empty. Only a few heroes stand around the Back Alley Brawler, while a huge mob surrounds Ms. Liberty.
Any ideas why this is? And what can be done to make people want to go to Galaxy?
