And since you can't get debt until level 10, that's 5 more levels where there's no debt.
Many of us are used to going through the low levels when you could start getting debt at level 5 and we did and that meant that it took about twice as long to get from 5 to 10 as it does now. And that means that essentially we have half as much influence as we did then.
[/ QUOTE ]
Quoted for truth. Moving the first debt level up to 10 plus halving the debt cap was a huge nerf to inf gain for new characters.
On my previous characters, I went into perma-debt from 5 until inf stopped being an issue (generally around 30), and could more or less afford the essential slots plus some to most of the rest, depending on the build. Now, debt starts later and wears off faster (half cap). In CoV, add that to the missing bonuses for street hunting plus the lack of rich high-level villains to hand out infamy to anyone they happen to like, and it adds up to people having trouble trying to keep even their core enhancements up to date.

Wow, I can't believe someone pulled out the Inf Nerf card! **boggle**
When they announced the debt not starting till level 10, no one screamed, "This will destroy how we gain influence!"
The amount of Influence you gain from debt pre 10 is very minor compared to the debt influence you get post 20.
I think before, when my character got debt after level 5, I was able to afford about 5 DO at level 12.
People also say that CoH has been around for a year and that there are players who offer influence at AP for costume contests....well there are 3 zones that heroes can interact with villians. I've not tried this and can't test it since I'm at work, but maybe you can xfer inf from your hero to a villian there?
Go forth, earn your Infamy. Day one of CoH had to do the same thing. -
Well, day one after I5 is live. Although Defiance sounds great on paper, in practice, it's reacting to slow.
By the time there is any use from defiance, a blaster is one to two hits from death. I got down to 1/4th life before I even saw defiance bar move.
I'd suggest a re-evaluation when defiance kicks in, and how fast it scales up to damage taken. When Defiance was suggested, I envisioned myself balancing damage taken with defence. As it stands now, I can't "juggle" how to use defiance. It kicks in too late when my health is too low. -

Thats cause all the vets hit 50 and got bored and left, saw more prestige sprints on the test server then anywhere else.

All the vets?
Hmm, **looks at my Reged and then looks at Krasus**
so you and I are not vets? I've yet to be bored. -
This whole discussion re: gender specific gear for Pre-order is really a non-issue, in my opinion.
How many people do you see running around with their CoH preorder run animations?
**edit - This just comes down to the have's and have not's, just like the snowballs during the early Winter Lord event.
There were quite a few people mad because the only way to get a snowball was to take down the WL and they didn't get the snowballs early.
In the long run, I only think 1 of my characters will wear the helm and only as an alt costume. -
States, I wish your brother and all those troops over there good luck and best wishes.
As for the Professional vs. gamer response, I'd rather have the gamer. It's hard to articulate with forum postings. One person perceives "snarkey" another doesn't.
When you made the comment, it didn't read as snarky to me and I was rather confused at why people were peeved at the response.
Keep it real -
I just love these posts about something that is going on Test server and may even not make it to the live server.
Even if it makes it to the live server, I'd give it a month to try. This development team has shown in the past that they will listen to the community. They will change something that goes against the spirit of the powers yet makes it onto the live servers.
So go with your doom and gloom and I'm-taking-my-business-elswhere-without-actually-seeing-if-changes-stay-in-live-servers attitude. In the long run, you lose out.
As for the statement by Statesman about PVP not effecting PVE; I've always seen that as a pipe dream. The best that can be done is to try to minimize how much PVP will effect PVE. -
Eden TF: Big, bada-boom, big crystal boss. Big as Octo-squid that terrorized IP and can one shot any tank that does not covet the ambrosia

I think an sphere of influence would be a good idea for players. Say I taunt someone, then run to the other side of the arena. If the person I taunted is outside my sphere of influence (for argument sake, lets say 50 feet) or if I'm knocked out, then the power "turns off". Same can be done for holds and effects.
-
oh, just thought of something wicked, say you confuse a tank. Said tank then uses provoke and it hits his team mates. What will happen.
ohhh, anxiously awaiting arena! -
You can streatch the chest from narrow to wide. Shoulders narrow/wide. Arms narrow/wide. Hips narrow/wide. Legs short/tall. And women chest from small to Pamala Anderson
The face can be streatch from wide to narrow and also tall to short.
Each "slider" is seperate from each other. -
I remember CoT bosses and Lts blowing up if 2 people tried to melee them
I remember CoT bosses and Lts blowing up if it was the last on in the mob
I remeber hydra groups thinking they were getting ubar xp in PP
I remember when people were told not to do the TF because they were still broken
I remember the first time I took super speed and zoomed around Steel Canyon
I remember the first time I took flight and looped around the Statue in Steel Canyon
I remember the first time I took Super Jump and the thrill of saying "boing, boing" as I jumped from rooftop to rooftop in Kings row.
I rememeber the first time I took teleport and setting my first bind so I could rt click to the tops of buildings
I remember when I was about to quit because the first SG I joined just disintigrated and being contacted by an in-game friend who showed me what a real supergroup is like (Shout out to Defenders of Paragon on the Infinity server may we continue to grow and have fun!)
-
I was there for Friday and Saturday. I was going to show up Sunday with my camera to take some pictures of the character generation screen.
So I remembered the camera, but forgot my Con pass -
After playing with the Global with my supergroup (people hopping onto other servers, people using alts and such and keeping on the same channel)
One bug I'd like to point out that I've not seen anyone post. When you transistion to another zone and your currently in Channel chat mode, it will return to local chat.
If someone already said this, sorry I didn't see it.
Otherwise as an alt-aholic, I see this as a very useful tool. Love the Global friends list. -
I would love to see a purpose of wearing the SG colors instead of just for looks. Maybe a "Synergy" bonus for each person on the Team wearing the SG colors in the team?
Right now, I use my SG colors to show I'm in debt, and as my main is a blaster, he's wearing it all the time -
I'm still on the fence on this one. Last night was the first time I really got to sink my teeth into issue 3. Got together with an 8 person group to go against CoT. Group level was 35-37
Every mob we encounted had at least 2 bosses and I was hard boiled. I would attribute this to the fact that we had a full team. Boy, did we get owned a more then a few times.
Part of me enjoyed the challenge, but the other part was saying, "somthing isn't right here".
BTW, of all the "Boss's to tough" threads, this one is by far the most civil.
On a side note, has anyone noticed the level difference that's happening in missions. For example my CoT mission had mobs from level 33-37 -
I remember when my brother got his first mission...defeat hellions in AP. he was level 2 and had a mission in the red zone.
I'm on my way home when I get a phone call from him.
Brother: "Dude, I can't beat these guys, they are level 6 and I'm level 2"
Me: "What do you mean, in the mission the guys are level 6 and your soloing?"
Bro: "Ya..have to take out hellions at warehouse. I've died 3 times trying to take them out!"
Me: "Did you go into the mission door?"
Bro: "....um, what door?"
Turned out that he was near the waypoint but outside the mission door. He actually thought the hellions outside were the ones he had to kill.
Missions being in tough locations are a challenge but can be reached. -
interesting read. I tried to find the thread I made about 4 months ago regarding the same issue: The equal balance between different level players.
At the time I was also in the beta test of WoWand saw the PVP imbalance where one level 50 could decimate an entire village of low level players. one level 50 vs twenty level 5-20.
Now, with this in mind I always envisioned that the level 50 would do serious damage but in the end be taken down due to the amount of people attacking him. This was not the case. The level 50 guy wasn't even touched
Should a level 10 be able to take out a level 50 one-on-one? I disagree, but if a level 10 teams up a few other players of similar level, they should be able to overcome the single level 50 guy.
Just my 2 bits. -

I really hate to say it but this is, by far, the worst decision to change this game made yet...

First time I heard about sushi, the idea of raw fish on rice, it sounded like the worse idea for food.
Can't get enough of it now
Moral: Don't make a judgment call untill you get all the information. Course you though that the hero clicks thing was lame also. -
Okay, now I understand. if that's the problem, worried that your going to level past the TF, I guess the only thing is to hope that someone can confim in a post-patch version of the TF.
So far, looks like any pre-patch is [censored] and will have to quit and do the post-patch TF.
Only other thing would be to hope they get the Exemplar's fixed so they can do TF. -
go to the main page then "recent updates" all the patch notes. if your too lazy here Update Page
Edit - I've noticed that no one has answered Vyvyanne's inquiry. Did you quite the existing pre-patch TF and start a new TF? -

Help, help, I'm being repressed. Come see the violence inherited in the system!
Nothing like something a bit different to spice up life. Kudos to the Statesman -
Even if I could escape my arch nemesis, Boss-Person, I'd still need to get a ride home! I ride share to work and I live to far from BART
