Issue 5 Features Preview: Forest of Dread
Badges we'll be getting in I5...
"Epic Badges" - The next level of Damage Taken/Influence/Mez/et al badges.
A badge for helping fight the Hellions' Fire.
Possibly 2 badges for helping take down the Uber Trolls.
Trailblazer: Collect 200 badges total.
Plus, if we're lucky, the tournaments and whatnot will be working so we'll have the 10-15 Arena badges.
Now...about Hellion's Fire...
I don't know how it starts or if it's going to be ongoing, but...
Basically you'll go talk to the Fire Chief. He'll ask you to help deal with the fires and will give you a fire extinguishing temp power/device built by Positron.
From there you'll go around doing whatever the object of the event is (not entirely sure how multiple heroes and such will interact), which could be something more than just "fight the fire lol".
Yes the fires are in fact considered enemy mobs. Oddly enough, there's technically 3 badges offered by this event. Each one is essentially the same badge, but its title will differ to reflect on how well you fought the fires. (IIRC, it's Volunteer Firefighter, Firefighter, and Fire Chief.)

Why atleast they get new powers. There is nothing for Scrappers or tanker. I love the way they have been left out in the cold.

Us Scrappers got a lot of updates in I4. Look at all the nerfs we got. I guess we should be falsey pleased with all of them. All hail Devs. We bring sacrifices to you as poor peasant worshippers. NOOOOOT!
[/ QUOTE ]
The most balanced AT in te game right now is the Defender. Since Controller and Blasters share there powers already they are the only ones safe to get new powers.
If they gave new stuff to you Scrappers they would have to nerf them when they finaly nail down where tey want you guy. It wuld be easier to just make new power sets once they hit the sweet spot.

That sweet spot supposedly happens in each update with each new nerf. Devs got a sweet tooth I think.

Yay more shared power sets between controllers and defenders. There was not enough overlap already.
[/ QUOTE ]
My thoughts exactly! Yeah for only one primary to call our own!
[/ QUOTE ]
Better than having no secondary to call your own.

Tankers and Scrapper have a problem, there defense. In this game defense makes you a king. In a game with no loot it's hard to balance such a problem. The truth is that Tankers and Scappers are hard to balance without gimping them to death.
Now g back and put yourself on the cross. You'll need the practice for I5.
Everyone, prepare to duck-and-cover, for an evil worse then the villains of paragon approach..
Legolas clones...
EEEEEP!!!
Mixed reactions here myself. I thought for sure they said Defenders were getting unique Primary sets. That gave us Controllers some hope that we'd get some unique Secondaries all our own too.
And the Level range of Croatoa, STILL needs to be bumped up 5 or 10 levels and a pox on anyone who doesn't fight with us for that change 'til it makes it's way to the Live Servers
I know there is artistic liscense and all, but I have read quite a bit of Irish history and while the Tuatha de Dannu were sometimes described as monsterous/powerful or demonized, most of the time they were described as human-like. The models being used in I5 expansion do not look like anything I have ever imagined for them
Petty, I know, but coming from Mythology expert Jack/Statesman I am confused in the direction you guys seem to be taking with these models....
Well . . .
I'm sure I could find something to complain about as well if I tried hard enough, but I'd rather just say "thank you, Devs!"
Thank you, Devs!
Now make sure I6 is total and utter dung, so I7 can be the most awesomely, mindblowingly incredible feature update ever!
Obey the fist! *squeeks fist*
You know, in a few hours I'm sure I'll come back and totally mark out over how utterly kickass this stuff looks, but right now I'm having trouble seeing it all through the fog of annoyance. Seriously, I'd rather wait another issue or two with no new powersets than get two more copy/pasted defender hand-me-downs, which I cannot imagine will do anything but perpetuate the issues of interarchetype toe-stepping in the high-level game. Seriously, are controllers ever going to get a unique secondary? Are defenders ever going to get more than one? I'd really like a straight answer to that question, if anyone with a red name happens to be reading this, even if it's "We don't know." Even if they do it seems like it will be a looooooooong time coming, since both are now sitting in the ledger with the "Got new powersets!" box checked off.

They probly went with the demonized version because thye already had the human like gaint. And it looks cooler.
I realy have no idea here, I'm just taking a wild guess.

Heh, I just hope the hostage A.I. is smart enough to "follow" well (if the missions are designed that way). Nothing more annoying than a hostage than won't move or won't get out of the way of obstacles.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you've got a Grav Controller on your team, you could just port 'em to the Exit with Wormhole. Sure, they'd wind up a bit disoriented for a few seconds, but it'd serve 'em right after getting stuck in a stairwell.

The only thing I am a little leary on is the Guiding the NPC im burned on that from many of the games I played before because they had the dumbest AI (and that never ending treadmill in Kings dosen't give me hope).
Everything else looks cool.

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.
So, you want to delay the issue more? You cannot simply add levels to mobs and expect them to be in the right power range for their new level.

I'm hoping there are a few surprises not listed, like a task force on the par of the Calvin Scott TF except for 35-40, and some tweaking of ranges for Eden and Numina.
The troll event could be like the Clockwork Paladin event, where the badge won't be for taking down the raving trolls, but instead stopping the manufacture and distribution of the drugs.
I've been saying that I5 has to blow me away to keep me in the game, and it looks like there's a very good chance it'll happen. But it's the power nerfs that have me concerned.

Cuppa, will these events be short lived or will they become permanent zone events like the Ghost ship and the Paladin?
[ QUOTE ]
...could it be possible that one of the next new zones will bring back Winter Lords? It would be (forgive the pun) very cool.
[/ QUOTE ]
Whoah... an entire zone literally covered in snow and ice kept frozen by the Winter Lord. Suh-weet...
EDIT: [censored]!!!!! A 50-story version of the ice slide in FrostFire, OUTSIDE!!!! I WOULD NEVER LEAVE!!
ROTFL!!!!!
I have more or less given up posting on this forum for a variety of reasons, but I feel the need to say two things:
1) Issue 5 looks quite interesting.
2) Some of you whine a lot.

I was wondering when someone was going to mention that. My first thought upon seeing that screenshot was Borimear's(sp?) line, "They have a Cave Troll..."
Hmmm... archery and trolls.... me thinks the devs have seen LOTR one too many times.
All we'll need next is a few Elfen costume options, a new hairstyle for male characters similar to Legolas', and a few dozen people to come up with variations on the name, and we'll be set!
hehehe

I just dinged 25 last night. I have extreme difficulty making alts. Unless I fall into a coma until August, I'm gonna miss out on all the sweet content. I wonder if the Devs are considering the 30-40 thing. Or maybe Statesman will cave and approve the flashback system (Go Positron!)

Too-ah-that
I think that is correct.

In Irish Gaelic it could as likely be pronounced Gesundheit depending on the day of the week and the direction the wind is blowing.
I found one reference to TOO-ah-hah.
