Global Chat Beta on Live Official Thread
Similar problem. possibly identical, hard to tell from phrasing.
Okay. I log into Infinity, turn on chat for my main there, add 2 members of my Sg there to my gfriends list. all good. Logout.
Log into PINNACLE, turn on betachat, bing! works fine. UNTIL I try to click on someone in the gfriends list and select 'chat'. the game then puts into the composition window:
/t <charname>,
when it NEEDS to put in:
/t <@chathandle>,
Since the character that the person is playing either doesn't exist on Pinnacle or isn't logged in... and even if they were, it ain't her.
I cant use PDF either.

Also, I just verified that the test server IS included in global chat (by joining the Kill Skuls channel from Test)- so if you are on Test you can chat with your friends on live. Woot!
[/ QUOTE ]
FYI - I just found out that this will be removed. We need to keep test global chat separate from live global chat so that we can test updates over there. Sorry about that!

Will the American servers be able to share channels with the European servers (Union, Defiant, Vigilance, Z...)?

Question:
Is there a slash command to type in a generic global channel?
For instance, lets say I create a new channel with the name "Krazy's Channel" and I want to talk in it by use a "/" to do so, like, "/gchannel, hey guys!" like you can do in friends or SG (ie. "/sg, hey guys")? It's kind of a pain to set it up, you have to right click on the Comm. window and click on one of the channels, then it sets it to talk/speak in that particular channel.
P.S. Sorry if someone has already posted this question, I didn't find it in the posts I skimmed over.
Not sure if this has been reported: Zoning is causing the default channel to once again revert to local (thought this one had been licked )
Why don't the devs create some default channels, like for servers and ATs, that we can pick from a list immediately? Also, a search menu for public global chat channels would be killer.
Level 50 is a journey, not a destination.
▲Scrapper Issues List - Going Rogue Edition▲
Has anyone noticed (because I am feverish and too tired right now to go reading through the whole thread) that to remove someone from your global friends list, you must type "/gunfriend"?
Ya know, I've wanted to hit a few friends in the heat of anger once or twice in the past... and definitely ignore a friend for a while for something or other...
...but I've never really wanted to gun friend even once. And if I did consider it, I was drunk and claim no current knowledge of it.
Issues include:
1. Friend requests not going through until [/chatbeta 1] is retyped.
2. Tells not being able to be replied to across server.
3. Automatic reversion to local. Repeatedly typing [/chatbeta 1] is necessary.
4. Backspace and right clicking omitting the @ symbol.
5. Incorrect reporting as to a character's online status (instead retyping their handle), lack of reporting their current server.
Still seems to need work. However once its functioning it will be revolutionary.

The thing is, is that GC is working. It is a BETA, as it implies. Report bugs, etc..as this is a BETA.
Also, the renaming of Shard/Status would be nice and also another bug is under Shard, it doesnt show what server my friends are on. Its completley blank.
This space is intentionally left blank.
i've already sent in a feedback but wanted to post here too. Bugs:
Loss of default tab when I zone (goes from channel name to "chat")
/chatbeta 1 becomes inactive after d/c or log
Need exit button on members of chat window
Suggestions for additions:
When right clicking on members of global friend, add "invite to channel"
Allow option to see who enters and exits the chat
Show channels global friends are in and allow to join from right click menu (for public chats only)
Option to choose if handle or character name is shown in channel
Perhaps a dual chat system, one for regular chats and one for channels (enter button for regular chats and another button for channel, this would be easier for those that dont understand macros/binds)
So far its a great system (especially the global friend using handles so that you dont have to add each new char) keep up the new ideas
The /chatbeta 1 will be gone when they are done beta testing GC. They did it this way (as mentioned) for people to test it if they desire.
This space is intentionally left blank.
It would be extremely helpful if the global chat documentation were more easily accessible, perhaps a hyperlink in the features update anouncement. Hint hint..
Can we please have a way to change the text color of individual channels? It would be useful to me to be able to differentiate them by color; that way I could combine them all together in a single window and be able to follow multiple different channels easily in the same space.
(If there is such a way already, I haven't been able to find it.)
Ok, I've only read about halfway through this thread, but I wanted to put my global channel name up here. TestChannel is the name, we'd like to get people from different servers on to test it. (Damn my love for beta testing, I'm never going to finish this story arc now.)
Some things I wanted to add (I know some has already been mentioned)...
-Shard/Server column is blank
-Please oh please put a "Close window" button on the Channel Members/Admin window.
-To make the Global friend list take up less room, use the AT and Origin icons instead of the words "Blaster", "Technology", etc.
Overall, I'm impressed. It's very cool to finally hook up with friends whilst hanging out on different servers.
Thanks!
Forgot to mention this, but TestChannel IS a public channel, anyone can join by right-clicking in the chat window and selecting "Join Channel"
if it's a channel you use a lot:
/bind \ beginchat "CHANNELNAME,"
this way the "\" button which is right below the backspace key is an automatic entry into your Fav chat channel. I found this easy b/c I'm so used to using backspace for an /tell reply.
this may be a weird bug involving the forum pulls, already /bugged it
I logged in seeing Global Chat live, i change my handle from The_Fury My old forum taken from the first forum pull to Fury. when i log in now my Global chat handle is Erinyes, my current forum name taken from the second forum pull. Naturally the nick Fury is taken now. i know i had Fury because i was chatting to people using it.

Fury 50 NRG/ELC Blaster
Alecto 23 MA/Reg Scrapper
Megarea 22 Ill/Storm Controller

G Handle: @Fury. with the period sigh
Just wanted to say good job in implementing this. Works good for me so far. The Conglomerate are happy campers.

Would also like to see the ability to have a short command for chatting.
For example if I'm apart of three seperate channels, each one is assigned a number and I could then use /1, /2, or /3 for each respective channel to send a message quickly to said channel instead of having to type out a long string of syntax.

I use Tabs to seperate all of my chatting tools and implemented the various channels into their own seperate tabs as well. If you set the chat to "auto" then you should be able to navigate through the tabs by clicking on them. And a neat feature is that when someone talks through the chat (or information is added to the tab such as combat) it lights up so that you know there is a message. My tabs are all set on the "1" main tab window as follows: UNITY (channel), sg, team, private, system, broadcast, request. When I click on one i automatically enter that chat mode and can view and respond to only chat that is going on through that channel.
Also this is a good way to avoid the global chat changing you to local chat everytime you zone, which a few sg members have notified me of it doing.
Lanori-Pher (50 Claw/regen)
Crimson Sin (50 Fire/FF)
Jurius (50 Fire/Energy)
Green Sun (50 Rad/Dark)
Pher-Lanori (50 Warshade)
December Ice (32 Ice/Device)
all Infinity
Don't know if it would be too late to implement, or even if it is something that would suit everyone but...
Would it be possible to have an extra column in the channel members window to give the members' status (just like the global friends list) so we can see at a glance which character they are on? Then if a channel member goes offline they still appear in the channel member list but just with their status as offline (rather than them disappearing from the channel list until they log on again). Perhaps you could have a 'hide offline members' option?
Also, could you allow SG captains to invite their SG to a channel in addition to the SG leader(s)? Or at least give SG leaders the option to delegate this permission to their captains? I guess this might be something to add to the SG functionality which is probably longer term.
There are two things we badly need here:
1) A command to list available channels. Currently, you go on, and have no idea which channels you could be taking part in. I ended up joining KILL SKULS just because I knew it existed!
2) A lobby channel or two - possibly one for each server? - for generic chatting.

In the PDF on the last page it lists that issue is a known bug.
Are there any known bugs?
Yes, the “Channel Members” window does not have a button to close the window. To close it, you have
to go to the main menu and re-select that window.
For a first introduction to this feature, I really like it so far. I have not yet experienced downtime with global chat, but I will be a useful tool as it is developed. I tried testing this on Test Server, but it did not really cover the scope of multiple servers, etc... The global friends lidt is an awesome tool and I say thank you for this first step Devs. I agree with the know issues, as I have left my channel from the Channel Members window by mistake a couple of times.
well terre is some ways one just change the channal to defalt using edit channal option or add a tab for it then use the A to choose active tab. or if thats to complex right click on those letters.
