Global Chat Beta on Live Official Thread
[ QUOTE ]
Just a couple suggestions/comments. There is no quick button for selecting a global channel as your send channel, and if there is a slash command for it i do not know of it. Currently the only way to select a global channel as your send channel is from the right click menu. As someone who uses the slash commands to chat in diffrent channels at the same time it make it somewhat of an inconvience.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually there is a 2-click for setting your global chat channel. Click on the typing box leader (will normally read something like "supergroup:" or "team:") and then you'll get a menu and your joined channels will be displayed and selectable.
[ QUOTE ]
Also the channel member window has no close button. the only way to close it is again through right clicking the chat window and turning it off.

Known bug, right at the end of the intro mesage for global chat posted in Announcements.

Some questions:
I've just created a channel. Is that character the operator of the channel, or is my global handle the operator? My GC handle is what shows in the list, implying I could then log in on a different server and still be the operator.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes this is correct. Your chat handle is the moderator, not your character
[ QUOTE ]
I invite my SG to a channel. Am I inviting the individual characters or their global handles?
[/ QUOTE ]
The global handle is invited.
[ QUOTE ]
As for the / command to send to different channels, its /send <name of channel>, <msg> if you read the PDF it solves 90% of whatever questions you have.
[/ QUOTE ]
The correct command is:
/send "<name of channel>"<message>
Why they chose to go with quotes ("") instead of comma for GChat is a mystery to me though. Note that you don't need a space after the last " and the actual message.
On Test I was using the /send <name of channel>, <msg> and it worked for me. Was there an undocumented change on Live?
This space is intentionally left blank.
Wasn't there a post or a guide somewhere on the site which has the commands and guides to global chat? I'm going to try to link my groups tonight....but I do need instructions.
Global chat doc is loacted here: Global Chat PDF.

Using a comma never worked for me when trying to chat on a channel with a space in its name. If there's no space in the channel name then the comma will just be the first character displayed in your message.
It is working on Pinnacle now, but the chat server is still down.
Maybe a chat server status could be added to the server status page?

Is it just my stupid connection or does this link listed not work currently? http://www.coh.com/documentation/GlobalChatPG.pdf
Never mind it was my stupid connection.
Also for those of you who don't realize this IS a BETA version! They DEVs are working out the kinks! I hope...
Has anyone tried to create a permanent Channel (ie linking 2 SG's for example) then log out/in successfully?
At work right now or else I'd be helping field questions hehe.
@Deadboy
Have created a tab on my chat windows, created a channel, and can get tot he member listing. I have folks I have invited on there but it says you can invite SUpergroup members but Supergroup is not availabe, it is greyed out.
For everyone who can, come to channel 'Kill Skuls'
It's a crazy party in here!

Are you a member of a super group?
another fine example of throwing things out of test onto live without actually usuing data from test servers.

It's an Add On to standard chat.

And uh, where is that PDF?
Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.

When I went to the test server to try it out, I went to all the zones and found no one willing to test it out with me. You are assuming that they had a lot of data to work with. Also this is, as the name implies and others have stated a BETA. You do not have to get involved if you cant handle the fact that there are going to be bugs that need to be worked out. One thing I dont understand is why they did not put 2 or more test severs up in order for us to test that functionality out. Unless, I missed a day that they were doing that, in which case ignore my last comment.

yes except I just read that alliance stuff is not available so perhaps that is why that option is greyed out?

You have to be Leader of a SG to invite the SG, being Captain is not good enough.
Global Chat works on Pinnacle now! Thanks devs!

No, if it is grayed out and you are on a super group, from the way the PDF reads, it sounds like a bug. Either that or members of the SG need to be on, but I dont think this should be the case. Unfortunately, I am at work on lunch break and unable to test this out.
**Edited**
Or what WingedKagouti said.
i thought the dev's retook the board names... my global chat name is one that i used at first, but havent used in over a month. ???
i wanted to save the ONLY ONE name change you get for some other time... guess thats not gonna happen.
Global chat is not working on Infinity server. It lets you turn it on, but wont let you change handles or create channels. also does not allow you to add friends to global.
Lanori-Pher (50 Claw/regen)
Crimson Sin (50 Fire/FF)
Jurius (50 Fire/Energy)
Green Sun (50 Rad/Dark)
Pher-Lanori (50 Warshade)
December Ice (32 Ice/Device)
all Infinity

I have a question.. is this meant to REPLACE current chat, or ADD to it? If it is a replacement, it might be frustrating trying to work with the names from the board rather than character names. If it adds.. nifty.
