  6. I would probably stay Mace mastery and go with a high recharge, SL softcapped. Hasten and AM have a very minimal downtime (2-3 seconds)

    This is a range softcapped build with no purples or pvp IOs used. The only real set mule is Kick. I went with a hovering type build that can still deal out melee attacks when needed. I skipped Steam Spray. Hopefully you can get some ideas from here.

    I left Dehydrate unslotted but with 5 slots (suit to taste) and left 3 slots in CP (again keeping I24 in mind suit to taste).

  9. On my Cold/Sonic/Mace and Storm/Sonic/Power the full set is slotted in Shriek. On my Dark/Sonic/Leviathan the full set is slotted in Howl. On an unrelated note, I really need to level another Defender secondary to high levels
  10. Bolt, Blast, Bitter Ice Blast, Aim, Buildup, Freeze Ray, Frost Breath, Ice Storm, Blizzard are must take IDBHO. I also consider Chilling Embrace (post i24) as mandatory. Chilblain is also mandatory.

    BFR - because of its animation time is a player preference - I took it on my Corruptor but once I got Dominate I respec'd out of it. Depends on what Epic or Patron pool.

    Frozen Fists, Ice Sword and Freezing Touch are a player preference but they are helpful when building towards a Ranged or S/L DEF build.

    Ice Patch is more of a player preference choice - I have use for it on my AR/Ice/Cold but again that's primarily due to Ignite.

    Shiver is a good power but also a player preference.

    Frozen Aura I would not take unless I also took Ice Patch (since it is PBAoE)

  12. Barbed is getting looked at btw so it will probably be worth picking up. Here's an S/L build that does involve getting Scrapper ATOs and making them superior however it does not have maneuvers and the only real set mule is boxing. This is probably what I'll do with my Spines WP scrapper.

    That is going to depend on budget allocation, the amount of time you are willing to spend, amount of alignment merits you have, amount of catalysts you have, amount of converters you have, and your attachment to your particular character.     In my opinion I would say save your reserve for your new lowbies only if you have your level 50s where you want them and if you play them regularly. Aside from my Ice/Rad controller (who has two purple IOs) none of my other toons have any purple sets BUT they are fully IOd to where I want them to be (well except for my scrapper I think). I just finished getting them lowbie stealth IO and knockback protection IOs.
  15. I think answers are going to vary with the amount of slots one allocates.

    On my Dark/Sonic/Leviathan whose slots are tight I have Fluffy slotted with

    One Lysosome HO, one Endoplasm HO, one generic level 50 THD IO and one generic level 50 heal IO.

  17. Here is a softcapped to Ranged DEF sample build that I use on live (on my blaster Crossfire), hopefully that you can get ideas from - it does not have a lot of recharge (personally I go for about 30% global recharge after softcapping). Many of the power selections were made for concept.

    I am in the air for 95% of the time from range but I do jump into melee every now again (if I really feel like close quarters on a blaster I just hop on my Electric)

  18. My question to you is how much time do you spend in melee range? Why? This helps determine what type of defense to go for.

    I've got a Fire/Energy/Mu Blaster that plays predominately at range (hover blaster) but can still mix it up in melee when I need to. He is softcapped to Ranged DEF and when I need to be in melee range in get in and get out.

    My Electric/Electric/Mace Blaster plays predominately in melee range and as a result I built him keeping S/L Defense in mind (he abuses the Short Circuit/Power Sink combo).

    It is possible to build a blaster with a high amount of s/l and ranged defense but it is typically easier to go for one or the other.

    I didnt use the glad proc nor any purple sets in AoEs - you can if you want to - just pull the slots out of PThrust and use one in Fire Shield. I also spec'd in Conserve Power for Rise - when it is up - I think you will get more mileage out of it especially with the amount of AoEs you have. I did not slot up Bonfire - the recharge on is so long by default I saw it as purely situational (thinking the BAF doors for example).

  21. I was busy installing a motherboard on a laptop (from hell!) so I completely missed the coffee talk and I had some questions and realizations...

    1) Does this change affect the corruptor and defender blast sets?

    2) This really helps the ranged AoE potential of Electrical Blast and Ice Blast.

    3) I thought about just my Blasters and I still will skip Inferno (he's Fire/EM). Aside from Energy Blast, the rest would be probably taken regardless of secondary since the secondary effect from Dreadful Wail (stun) / Atomic Blast (hold) / Psychic Blast (stun) / Blackstar (mondo - to hit) are all team friendly. Personally, I do not have a problem with Nova - if I'm on melee and some noob blaster runs like Leroy Jenkins and nukes - does not quit kill everything but scatters critters all over God's creation - it will not bother me BUT I know it will bother alot of people and you know it's going to happen.
