Please post here about Global Chat Beta on the Live Servers. (Bugs/Comments)

This is NOT Coalition Chat - That will come later so save your comments about that for a future thread.

Keep the feedback constructive and no flaming/Trolling please.

Global Chat is not working at all (and Global Friends) on Pinnacle server

Probably already known, but just for the QA types reading this.

Global chat not working on Pinnacle. No interface changes and when trying to create a channel manually, says chat server is down.

We are aware that GC is down on some servers and are working to resolve the issue.

Am I the only that thinks the words "beta" and "live" should not be in the same sentence?

Some Bugs:

I can type "/t @Doc_D, <message>" and get an error saying I can't send to myself. So I'm guessing it's working, does something simular with normal /t.

I can type "/gfriends Doc_D" and get an error saying I'm not online or don't exists. /friend <my character]> get's the "You are always a friend to yourself" message,

I can't type "@Doc_D" into the add to Global Friends dialog box, the underscore backspaces over it.

it's kinda hard to test a GLOBAL chat while only using the test server

Hehe ... yeah, I was kinda thinking the same thing, but ... they only have two "Test Servers." The only way to test if it will work with more than two servers is to put it Live though.

Are there any existing so-called "Public Channels" for people to join? There should be some permanent ones already created to chat in.

Guaranteed Crash:

1) Edit Tab

2) Create Channel (e.g. bob)

3) Click OK

4) Make sure typing box leader says "channel:" where channel matches the channel name created in (2) (e.g. "bob :")

5) Edit Tab

6) Select channel created in (2)

7) Leave channel

8) Click OK

note: at this point you can actually still chat on the channel created in (2) even though you've left it

9) type "/chanleave channel" where channel is the name of the channel created in (2) (e.g., "/chanleave bob")

you will crash at this point

Yes, you need to do this to turn it on.

If its needed everytime you log in (not sure yet as it doesnt work on Pinnacle), hopefully this is changed. If its already on Permanently after typing /chatbeta 1, then disregard this comment.

Two questions:

1) Why the limit of being joined to only 5 channels? Seems too limiting. 10 or 20 (or heck no limit) would be better.

2) Will channels made during the "live beta" be wiped prior to Global Chat going officially fully live?

It might be a good idea to list a public channel you've created here if you want others to find it easily.

Yes every time you log on, and its a beta on the live servers. Hence its optional to participate. That's why there's a command to turn it on.

I'm sure when its out of beta that there will be no command required.

The document says that when it's live it will always be on, though you can hide.

The beta version must be turned on every time you log in. I guess this is still the beta version, since it says Beta.

My list of Servers and global chat functionality

The following servers are currently functioning with global chat
Guardian
Champion
Protector

These servers are not functioning with global chat
Liberty
Triumph
Infinity
Freedom
Victory
Pinnacle

These servers have not been tested as they are not functioning at all
Justice
Virtue

I HATE the 5 channel limit. Will this be changed or is this a permanent "feature"?

Just a couple suggestions/comments. There is no quick button for selecting a global channel as your send channel, and if there is a slash command for it i do not know of it. Currently the only way to select a global channel as your send channel is from the right click menu. As someone who uses the slash commands to chat in diffrent channels at the same time it make it somewhat of an inconvience.

Also the channel member window has no close button. the only way to close it is again through right clicking the chat window and turning it off.

I have a question.. is this meant to REPLACE current chat, or ADD to it? If it is a replacement, it might be frustrating trying to work with the names from the board rather than character names. If it adds.. nifty.

Some questions:
Has the friends list max size been increased?
Can you invite players to a channel while they are offline?
I've just created a channel. Is that character the operator of the channel, or is my global handle the operator? My GC handle is what shows in the list, implying I could then log in on a different server and still be the operator.
I invite my SG to a channel. Am I inviting the individual characters or their global handles?
