what I'd like to see: (and this has been said before in this thread)

The ability to promote / demote members who are offline
The abililty to demote inactive leaders (have the SG creator set the ammount of days before they can be kicked. and have that info displayed when you first join the SG that way you cant whine if the person kicked is YOU.)
An officers only channel
A SG Costume option. (3 costumes chosen by SG leaders: Huge, Male & Female.)
SG MISSION CONTENT!!! have there be instanced SG only "raid" type content, or mini trials or such. Maybe make them like 2-3 hours in length and requiring a team of 4+, or 2 teams, ect... like mini-hamidons - but for different lvls)
Finally: A SG "Vault" to deposit Inf & Enhs. Give the leaders the ability to assign the following privledges to the SG members: View, Deposit (ammount), Withdraw (ammount). I loved that aspect of DAoC.

this is small but could you add the maple leaf emblem to the sg emblems?

What tweaks would you like to see for Super Groups?

What new features?

[/ QUOTE ]

-More members. 75 is not enough. Or make it so that it's accounts, not characters, that are at the 75 limit. Otherwise you end up with a host of 'side' SGs just to hold people's alts. Once alliance chat is enabled this will be less of an issue but right now it's a real pain in the butt.

-The sort by last date online feature currently seems to be broken.

-Our SG has a problem that some members have been inactive for several months but because their characters are 'leaders' they cannot be removed from the SG. This needs to be fixed. Just because a character was promoted should not render it immune from being removed from the SG. An alternative would be to create a setting for the SG so that each team can set a default 'boot if no login' time -- say anything from 30 to 180 days. That way groups that value active members could set it to auto-boot characters after 30 days of non-play, but other SGs who don't care about inactiveness would be able to adjust accordingly.

-An SG 'bank' or some similar feature so people can more easily trade inf, enhancements, and inspirations within the group.

Yes! Thanks for understanding that supergroups need loving prior to CoV coming out!

This is a summary of my prior postings on the matter:

0) True SG ownership. The member of leader status who has been in the SG the longest gets ownership of the SG and becomes the "Owner". This allows them to literally own the SG, kick other leaders as needed (for defunct leader management), and they can transfer ownership to another leader. Should they ever quit without transferring status the next oldeset leader gets control. Should there be no other leader, then the person in the SG the longest gets control.

1) Allow the owner to be able to transfer ownership to another character. If the owner leaves without doing this, automatically assign the person who as been in the SG the longest as the new owner.

2) Allow the "Owner" the ability to promote/demote/kick anyone -- this includes characters that are flagged as "Leader". This means the Owner can kick Leaders.

3) The ability to promote/demote characters even when they are offline.

4) Ability to lock out non-Leaders from having the ability to promote/demote others..

5) Ability for the Owner to lock out everyone else from having the ability to promote/demote others.

6) Allow the option for automatic SG pruning whereby after a certain number of inactive days a character is automatically ejected from the supergroup. Ideally it would be nice to allow this day count to be set, but if you must remain within the 90 day guideline for keeping a character intact, then set it to 90 days.

7) All right click context menu options for players should be available at all times whether right clicking, using the target menu, or right clicking on a character in the Friends or Supergroup window. There is no reason for exceptions to this.

8) Get the bugs with Last Online and Joined columns straightened out. This includes: sorting, showing 49710 as the time, and other issues.

9) Put a line break before the motd after the text "(supergroup) Message of the day:" short messages look goofy without this line break.

10) Add some options to /hide so that a person can remain visible to their supergroup, yet remain invisible for purposes of invites. Ideally: Hide from Friends, Hide from Supergroup, Hide from Find, Hide from Find unless LFG

11) The new chat bubble coloring options don't get applied to certain chat channels, for example supergroup chat. Fix this.

12) Alliances -- these do not have to apply for purposes of raids . But because of the limit of 75 characters per SG there is a great need for some groups to have multiple SGs in existence. And some sort of umbrella ability is needed for these.

13) Allow for people to join SGs by account if desired. Since the 75 char limit exists to help raid performance due to the number of characters during a raid, a person joined by account could only have 1 character on at a time, so the reason for the limitation with regards to raids is not compromised.

14) Supergroup Costume design (not just colors, but a costume slot for each player in the SG). Leaders can design the costume for each body type -- members can just switch to/from the costume.

15) Change SG colors and emblems after the SG is created.

16) Make all available costume chest symbols availabel to SGs.

17) Keep us posted. After you take all this in, just say these are the things you like. These are the things you dislike, and why, and these are the things you'll never do and why. Those of us that manage SGs need the tools and are anxious for them.

Thanks for your time.

[*]Quick and easy email to the whole of the group
[*]A separate costume for supergroup completely. This allows for uniformity in case the group wants that. Ours all wear the same uniform, so right now everyone is using a personal costume slot. And while this isn't so bad for people with 3 and 4 costumes, it's aggravating for any lower heroes coming in.
[*]The ability to change colors and chest details after creation. And to tie in with this, the choice to not have a chest detail on the SG costume if so desired.
[*]Regarding SGs and their Headquarters: The ability to place head to toe or even just bust pictures of each member in the supergroup in the main operations room, along the walls of the entry corridor, the trophy room, etc. Perhaps their names at the bottom of said photos or maybe even plaques like we have around Paragon already. The members in question could enter a small bio and have their own pic/statue with clicky plaque. A bit premature but it does have to do with the supergroups and would be way cool!
[*]Coordinated attacks? Bonuses for a single attack from the grouped SG members. Perhaps a designated group of powers that when used in unison as "The Coordinated Attack" do more damage, raise defense, yadda yadda. *The Greasy Spoon supergroup encounter Dr. Vahzilok and their leader shouts for members Rooty, Tootie, Fresh and Fruity to get ready to hit him with the Uktra Denny's Grand Slam maneuver* [/list]

How about something else to do? SG-only story arcs/TFs might be cool. I'm not talking about your ordinary missions. They need to be the stuff of legends. Bosses, AV and monsters! Oh my! (I know you could say that we can organize these things but I'd like to see this to add another reason for there to even be an SG besides of the extra chat channel.)

The ability to set different levels of leadership with different responsibilities. Currently, leader, captain, and member do not offer enough options to streamline the organization.

I'd like to be able to alter the SG colors/symbol after creation. Happens in comics all the time. This would be leader only option, I think.

SG stats at the kiosks might be cool as well. Highest average level, highest number of arrests in a zone, etc.

The Alliance chat is on its way IIRC but that was my only other pet peeve.

If I may play Devil's Advocate here on a request I've seen a few times here...

What do more ranks buy you? Can you really think of ten functionally different levels of membership, or is this just a "pecking order" thing?

I'll add my voice to logo and color changeability as well.

I had a great time playing with you!

1. Let the leaders change colors and symbols after creation.

2. Fix the Last On sort

3. Promote or demote while offline. Maybe even be able to leave an invite via e-mail for people on at odd times.

4. If you can see your teammates as green and other heroes as blue, how about another color for SG members so you can find them easier.

5. Allow no MotD.

6. An SG "message board" tab where SG members could leaves noted for the general group.

7. Allow emblem to be a "pocket" emblem, like how the suit coat symbol works.

Don't limit the SG to 75 characters...limit it to 75 unique accounts. This would clear up pretty much everyones complaints about super group size.

I really hope that if they consider this, they still leave us with a way to have our characters be in different SGs if we want them to be.

I have varied character concepts, and I'd hate to be stuck with a silver-age, semi-cheesy do-gooder themed SG for my extremely reckless and cocky main character. Yeah, the people are fantastic, but it just wouldn't feel right to me, and I think they would secretly not want characters like her in the SG.

Also, I know people with characters in several different SGs, and I think they like it that way.

I'd still want Alliance Chat, even if we were stuck with one SG per account, as a lot of the coolest people we meet that aren't in our SG are already in another one.

SG on SG combat in the arenas

the diffrent ranks haveing more meaning then just who can kick who

SG only missions/TF/trials

the abilty to have diffrent chest symblis based on your rank

an SG bank(like back in beta...but with out all the bugs)

a specal enh/insper/tep power for leaders like a leadership power

our own "avengers assemble" type thing leaders can do gives all members on-line a pop-up message to come to (blank) for a meating/raid/party/ect and off-line members it gives an e-mail saying what happend

maybe make one of the paragon dance party doors a zone that makes instened zones for SG's and clicking on it gives a list of witch zones your SG members have made and a list of other SGs party zones if your alowed to enter that one AND the option to make your own(mabe only leaders/LTs can do the SG only ones)

the power to teleport thou zones to other members in other zones....ok i didin't think this thro that much

and a bouns for grouping with other SG members like 10% better inf, +1 to the enh's you get per 2 SG members in the team,a kahelden like buff just not to dam, def, or mez protect(acc, damage res, recharge time on powers, max hp/end)

Some really good suggestions so far, I'd like to throw in a few I have not seen (though I did just sort of skim).

1) The ability to reorder/remove/add sorting/data tabs from the SG window. Eg, if the first thing I want to see is last on, I can move that to the front, if I don't care about AT I can remove that area completely. I'd love a simple 'comment', single line, for each SG member as well- from 'A demon looking for justice' to 'Yet another alt of <blank>'.

2) I would love to see SG city registration options. I would like to stress options before I go into detail- the default position should be simply to remain as they are now.

For those who want to make it more 'offical', though, they should be able to register a description, the SG leaders, or even the entire SG as public information, at Atlas. You could even put up a name as a recruiting officer, or allow someone to read up on the SG, and get a sense of what they'd be interested in joining.

As a possible addition, a 'peak hours' calculated by the game would be...amazingly nice for SG members. I work a 2nd shift job and most of my SG which I pulled together personally works either 2nd or 3rd shift or just doesn't play at the normal hours- so I think prospective members would like to know what they're stepping into, but obviously this is very low priority.

I love a lot of the suggestions above- SG TFs that do things like change history plaques or give sg superpowers or do something that changes the game in some fashion. SG lock-leveling....all these things sound quite cool to me.

Looking forward to what happens next.

I'd like to see an option to change the SG colors without needing to disband the SG and make it all over again.

Also the ability to do a mass email to everyone in the supergroup would be ideal for organsing things. The email system in general needs alot of work since its never rarely used and you can't send to multiple players as far as I know.

What might also be nice is having special auras available for supergroup members or maybe part of the suergroup costume. Nothing as varied as the auras you get at level 30 but certainly more of an incentive to join an SG and wear their colors.

I know there is some concern on how to remove top level SG members that haven't logged in a long time. I think the remaining top level memebers should be able to vote to remove them. Once a majority vote is reached by at least 3 highest ranking memebers then the dead weight is removed.

Also I would love if we could edit the MOD a little more. As of now the only way to change it is to erase everything. That makes typos a real pain if they are at the begining of the MOD. Why can't it have the same editing properties as your ID card.

I agree also with most of the posts here. I'd like to see:

-more ranks
-alliance chat channel between SG's
-a larger roster for the SG maybe 150
-promote/demote offline
-SG only missions
-SG bases that have vaults with tiered access tied to rank/level
-SG info in the tab
-Sortable SG window with a total # of SG listed
-Notification of who's online like friends notifier (please don't make it everytime we zone though, just when they log on and off)
-A promotion rewards system make it something that won't affect gameplay so its not exploited, but something more worthwhile than being able to invite and boot. Make em want the promotion.

Thanks Statesman, Keep up the great work!

Ive only been in one other MMO but I would like to see some of the features that were nice for Guilds/SG there in here...

1. Only one person can have the top leadership title
1a. If that person has been inactive for 30 days s/he is demoted and the next active person in the rank below will get promoted.

2. Promotions/Demotions while off line.

3. Ability to change SG colors and Symbols.

4. SG Alliance. I have friends in different SG's and would be better to just have a channel for group chatting. A friends list but for SGs. /sgfriend <SG name here>

5. Do NOT and I mean never, increase the SG size. 75 is more then enough. Assuming the fact that eventually we'll have the ability to host SG Vs SG battles. Think about it, 150 people all on one map, powers flying everywhere, the sound, the lag, the carnage. Think how it was before the auto afk in PI and recently WL hunting anywhere. Most people do not have a computer that can keep up with that and I don't think the servers could as well.

6. Guild Banks for Inf or Enhancements for transfer between people.

7. Guild influence that would go towards SG bases, non refundable donations from SG members. Non refeundable to prevent stealing.

8. SG web pages listing stats. Missions done, members, skills (for when they come out)

9. Different Player name colors depending on the rank they are.
9a. Outside of SG would have 2 colors. Member, and Leader.
9b. Inside SG would have 3 colors. Member, Officer, Leader.

10. Missions or Raids that are SG based. Make them like current missions where each has their own maps. Would prevent Uber guilds from Owning them and setting the rules for them. (Anyone a veteran from Earth and Beyond should remember that and the fun that it caused when Guilds set rules for the server)

11. SG base raids purly optional.

Will post more if I can think of any.

Heh heh. Would be great, also, if that nemesis group saw any member of your team, they would aggro you.

There has been lots of talk of letting people remove leaders and such that are inactive. But if both the leaders and the Creator are inactive, then what do you do? I would like to see a vote system in place. Where the members of the SG are asked upon signing in to vote out an inactive member or vote in an active one. This can apply to everyone, not just leaders and creators. This way the members themselves can vote out inactive people or at least vote someone else into a leadership position. Set a percentage level for approval... say 51% of members approve then it takes effect. Prevents abuse because no one person can kick out a leader or creator, and no one person can assume control... without the approval of most of the active members.

[/ QUOTE ]
I'd prefer a /petition system where a GM could have the finaly say based on inactivity. I'd hate to see a coup take place in an established SG.

Ability for leaders to setup a period of innactivity that results in characters being auto-dropped from the SG roster. I suggest a series of check-boxes for 30, 60 and 90 days...so SG leaders can choose the level of commitment that's required to stay in the SG.

[/ QUOTE ]
I'd really like to see this too. For one, it is one of the few safe ways I can think about to allow for the expulsion of SG members of the highest level that doesn't allow SG "hijacking". I've been in a few SGs that fell apart because the roster was full of old "friends" and abandoned alts that the founders refused to kick (lots of +100 day idles) and so the active core couldn't grow. I guess I don't see what the problem of kicking inactive people is, since they could always reapply if they decide to start playing again.

I would like to see the the reasoning for the 75-person limit revisited.

The only explanation I've heard for this limit was because the game engine can't handle having too many people on-screen at once, so the size of SGs was limited. That just doesn't make sense to me.

City of Heroes is a game about playing alts. More than any other mmorpg, virtually everyone other than new players makes a lot of alts. Due to the social nature of supergroups, when you make an alt it is perfectly natural to want to continue chatting with your SG-mates and carry the familiar SG-name over your head.

Three solutions have been suggested:

1) Limit the SG to 75 *players*, but up to 8 characters per player. That way you could never have more than 75 online at once.

The arguement against this is that the game would have to keep track of account information, which then might be open to hacking.

My answer... put an option in the login screen, where you are looking at your eight character slots, to "Merge SG members". In other words, from the login server you could click this button and any of your characters who are currently in the same SG will be henceforth recognised as a single player, taking up only one slot and being grouped together in the list with a little marker showing that they are alts of one another. If you later join the SG with another alt, you would have to go back to the login screen and click the Merge button again.

This solves the problem of the account information being bandied about on the live servers. It would only be used on the login server, which is presumably secure, since that's where we type in our passwords already. It allows you to keep the 75-person limit while allowing us to have all of our alts together with our friends.

2) Remove the 75-character limit entirely. I fail to see how limiting the size of a SG realistically prevents large in-game gatherings.

3) Allow SGs to be "linked", so that SG-chat from one is displayed in the chat of all linked SGs. This allows for one main SG and several others for alts as needed. For most intents and purposes, this is the same as #2 above, since the linked SGs are basically one large meta-SG.

One situation where linked SGs are NOT the same as one large SG is in situations where an entire SG is marked for something special, such as an SG-only event, SG-vs-SG PvP wars, that sort of thing. Because of those situations, it should be possible to switch a character from one linked SG to another without undue hassle. (This would also be good for when an "alt" turns into your "main" and you'd like to move your characters around a bit within the meta-SG organization.)

------------------------------

Pretty long-winded, but I wanted to cover all the bases, no pun intended.

we definitely need an alliance / raid group system. I know you have said you don't want groups larger than 75 because of server issues, but there's something you are overlooking:

Some people are not in and do not WANT to be in large supergroups!

An alliance system would let several SMALL supergroups join forces more easily for Hamidon raids and whatever other raid encounters you add while still remaining in their own groups for normal play. Some people like belonging to smaller groups, but would like to join up with others occasionally for big encounters.

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name

The Scavenger Hunt: 187076
The Instant Lair Delivery Service: 206636

Echoing the 75 account limitation rather that 75 characters. Or perhaps the option to add an account or character.

I would like some SG Content - not just SG exploitive features

For example A multi Task mission (multiple simultaneous tasks) where each individual task is assigned out to members of the super group. The reward would not be given until each member completes his task. Also would be neat if the reward was in the form of a super group reward. For example, what if you had a special set of inspirations are powers (acquired through Super Group mission) that were available to all super group members operating in super group mode. Could be neat particularly if the powers were limited use or only a small flavor impact.

Some of the inspirations could match with the enhancements for instance: Range increase, Damage resistance, hold Increase, Imob Increase, Disorient Chance, Knock Back or Knock Down chance, Fear, confuse, etc.

From a technical data design view. The SG Arc would be - One to Many - with SG Missions. Ad the SG Missions One to Many - with SG Tasks.

The SG Arc would be one-one with the SG and the SG Mission would also be one to one with the SG not the character. The SG task could then be assigned One to One with a character or Many (characters) to one with the task.

Example:
SG Arc: Family Business
SG Mission 1: Distract and Infiltrate - launch a campaign on the streets against the family to distract family long enough for a team member to penetrate the Familys Tax Files.
Task 1-1: Defeat 15 Family IN IP
Assigned To: Golden Guardian
Task 1-2: Defeat 15 Family IN Talos
Assigned To: Articus
Task 1-3: Search Base on Striga Isle and find clues
Assigned To: Rameus

SG Mission 2: Bring in Big Al
Task 2-1: Capture Big Al - Boss Indoor Mission
Assigned To: Golden Guardian and Articus
Task 2-2: Liberate Susie Q - Rescue Susie Q and get her out of the Indoor Base (must be escorted out before they take her down)
Assigned To: Rameus

SG Mission 3: State Witness - Trial.
Task 3-1: Need to get some more Evidence Indoor Mission.
Assigned To: Golden Guardian
Task 3-2: Guard the Prison Cell - 20 family Mobsters or in the Prison trying to break out Big Al. You must stop them before they get Al out.
Assigned To: Articus
Task 3-3: Protect Susie Q as she is going Stateside Witness - Susie Q follows like a pet, but groups of 1 to 3 family members try to periodically knock her off until Task 3-1 and 3-2 are completed.
Assigned To: Rameus

SG Mission 4A (If all task completed): The Trial - Show up to the trial and enjoy a nice cut scene. A group of family member tries to bust him out. An Indoor Court House Mission follows for the whole group.

SG Mission 4B (If Task 3-3 failed): Rescue Susie Q - A mission to break her out and save her from the Pendulum that slowly but surely cuts at the rope that is hanging her by her feet over a pool of acid.

Something like that.

I'd like to see a Super Group bank where members could deposit influence and enhancements for common use.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think this would only work if you had a 1-for-1 trade-in system, or a log/limit of who took what and how often. I'm all for helping out alts and lowbies, but without checks and balances it would get abused by some people who would just take and take with replinishing the stock. Make the limits customizable by the leader. A SG of 5-10 would probably want higher limits than a SG of 50-60...

Otherwise I like all of the suggestions so far. Particularly the SG Costume slot and SG specific content.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is why I was suggesting an in-box feature, like this

I get a drop of a Level 40 Magic SO when side kicked with my Khel to Usagi, I can't use it, Sagi can't Use it... and I don't really NEED the money, ( Ami-Chan can just give me some)

But I know Nezzer could use it, But Nezzer is not on, and my rack is full so I have to get rid of it somehow.

Now without the in box I would just go sell it a the first place I can.

but with the in box
I would right click on Nezzer in the SG window,

choose leave offline trade, get a trade window,

drop the Enhancement in the trade window and Click Done...

Now when Nezzer comes on (Even if I am not online) he gets a message

"Kurai Ami has left you an Offline Trade"

he opens the SG window,

clicks on inbox or Offline trade button,

and sees what I have left for him...

At this time he can trade me something for it,

Decline it (Maybe he doesn't need it /can't use it/doesn't have room in his inventory for it right now)

or

Accept it

This system would allow for leaving welcome packages for new members ( Maybe a couple of Kora sized inspirations an enhancement and some Inf )

And ALSO have the benefit of laundering money frome your Level 50 to your alts without worrying about someone getting to the vault before you and thinking the inf is left for them...

and also guard against people joining SG's and Cleaning out the vault quitting the SG and transferring the stuff to another alt and never being heard from again.
