Zwill plays about up to 15. Others play it up to 22, where you can get SOs.

    ...

Back to drowning in blood. People are riding sewer to 50 and they want to add something else on. DiB deals with the Shivans as a precursor to the Coming Storm and involves both the old shivans and new shivans. Set out to avoid the clash with a situation like old/new klingons. Star Trek tangent. They wanted to explain the influence of the coming storm on the shivans and their history and current nature, as a bit of a send off to the blood bay shivans. Happiest with there actually being a separate trial and different options. Objections are largely the same but heroes/villains have different sides. So much content hinges on story, trials are meant to be fast, fun and simplistic, didn't want to get crazy with stories like cut scenes, etc. But for players that want to slow down, you can talk to different people and experience it differently. Goal for drowning in blood was to provide both a lot and as little story. Stuff you can kill through dialogue trees. Villainside you can ally or go against arachnos, some murdering (DEFEATING). Easter eggs: there's a lot of references to Aliens, some Smurfs (making fun of the old shivans color) Creepy body snatcher with a funny name. The beta feedback on the trial has been sparse.
I think you need to ask Posi about the first month of AE and then think whether a 'high adoption rate' is actually a reflection of how fun or popular it is in good terms.

It's a trial starting at level 1 and it's a very basic "go here, smash this" unless you're going for badges and the only alternative is the new Atlas and Mercy stuff which is fine once or twice but then it's the frankly awful Shining Stars or Dr. Graves 'extended tutorial' arcs. A case of the devil you know is better than the shoe-horned plot. It also means they can log in to Atlas/Mercy and coast up to 50. Funnily enough I was just reading about "Content Locusts".

Most people are coasting it in beta too because they need to get their alts up to the high enough levels since there's no level shifts being given out atm. Wink-wink

There's an interesting grab bag, but he can't say much about too many plans for the future. Think Tank spends time playing the game on a nightly basis, has some concerns about some of the low level content stuff, ex. the Hollows. Each designer has their own stuff they want to see revamped, improved, streamlined, etc but that has to be balanced with new content and higher level play. As far as old hazard zones, they have new tech to implement in places, new things to experiment with.

The devs have the freedom to walk in at the start of the day and be irritated from something the night before, wanting to fix it, and folks will find time to take a look at it. With the old hazard zones, he's not sure what the scale they'd be looking for, for instance how many Atlas park revamps will be seen vs Dark Astora style revamps. There are definite quality of life changes to be made to areas, like the Hollows. The zone doesn't sit right in terms of when you get sent there, it's an awkward place to transition to. A lot of old content can be seen as the 'low hanging fruit' of the game. One of the factoids someone brought up, the game has in the neighborhood of just 10 zones for a 20 level range.
I wish a select amount of players who've played the content could become a focus group for this. Now that "Revamp can also mean 'New'" has sunk in it would be nice if some players who are more engaged with the content could point towards things. In this case: Boomtown.

Anyone who's played Redside content will know there's an arc in the 15-20 range that features a Baumtown restoration project where the few entrance buildings are being given a makeover similar to what happened with Faultline. Of course given the arc is about as old as mayhems the original model stock may not be available but there is some groundwork to build off (pardon the pun).

It's also a zone filled with conflict and upheaval so it would be similarly small scale building till the 'zone' could be fully reclaimed. They don't all have to be Atlas Park scale revamps because in the real world there aren't that many size restorations that go on. There are several housing developments in the town where I live but they've bulldozed the entire plot and started building them in sectors. One sector is finished and then they move to the next. Even the Arenas had building sites before they were put in the game proper as did the long-lost travel method for the moon zone. They're still working on that wall in Steel (despite the GvE box coming with a map showing the expanded Steel Canyon).

There's been plenty of other small scale changes from the University innerds to Wentworths and the Black Market and even the AE buildings. Small changes do get noticed.

What an awful experience. Why the devs think this is fun is beyond me.

Please let us just buy these trial badges in the Paragon Store, so i don't have to suffer these 'epic' events any more.

    Eco
And this is where most of our ire stems from Eco and why some of us were vehemently against having the DD trial where it was 'suggested' on beta at the level it is.
  6. I chose D (B would be my runner-up).

C reminded me of this guy:
  7. If they were going for a MoMoM then I could see the 'requirements' being so galvanised to ensure success. Protection against Psi damage, Dark Miasma for healing and Howling Twilight mass-rez/stun, full IOs for say positional defenses and regen. But then that's why I don't do them anymore.

Something humourous of my own: before the cutscene skipping, BAF was a good place to pop up some cutscene side-bubbles. So mine was "I fancy some KFC". Few trials went by and someone asked just what the heck I was on about. So I told them it's because they're famous for their 100% chicken breast. Yes, they did groan at that.

Best one I saw was someone who'd made two binds and when it jumped to Siege and Nightstar they blurted out two lines from South Park Mel Gibson "Oh, my nipples are so tender. Don't squeeze them anymore!". Needless to say, we were all in stitches for the rest of the trial.

Some of the NPC ones for general use like Longbow and Crey Paragon Protector patterns. Lot of us make Longbow and PP characters; the patterns would add variety. I know that crosses into NPC outfits but those two have spandex uniforms I'd like to have access to. Same for the Arachnos (widow)patterns on non-villain epics.

    C) modern super-hero tights (w/ ribbing, surface texture(s), subdivided surfaces) a la Ultimates 1 or Marvel movies.
On this note: I made an awesome suit. It's currently my favourite blend of parts; a classic spandex uniform torso which use plain tights with the Stripe 3 pattern, Valkyrie 3 shoulders, Justice w/plate gloves, Alpha belt and Vanguard w/plate boots:

Then out came the Defense 'tights' set and when I had a look I realised it was the same pattern as Stripe 4 for males so my awesome suit had a new movie-style variation:

So there's room for both but the tights can be a basis for new outfits with more detail.

As for the loose-fitting: would be nice especially the aforementioned geo-fit where it stretches across protrusions rather than literally skin-bonded. Espcially after seeing the dress from the D-pack.

Oh and also: I'd make the w/skin tights be consistant with the fulltops ie. no tinting that make a white t-shirt look like my females have been in a wet contest of the same name.
  9. Advanced telepads is nice, hoping that it's a stepping stone to having all beacons available for bases or just for more zones in general like the Shadow Shards and Cimerora. I also hope that the cost difference isn't as extreme as the regular and advanced control items.

Grav control improvements: my grav/psi dom now might actually have decent output solo instead of fighting at -1 all the time.

Stalker improvement: more HP and a better way to build AS. I like. No more hit and run unless you want to.

LFG: step in the right direction but still needs work if the time is not representative of realistic waiting time instead of showing an average. Instance launching good but again no good if it means we have to be in the same zone to launch a new trial. I hope the multi-zone issue is also resolved. I'll also like to be able to know if the instance launching means we'll be dropped back inside the instance or at the mission entrance otherwise there might be a few declines if someone joins up and then gets to a boss when the launch keys show up.

Olympian, very nice. Also nice that all the darkness sets are all free to VIP.

"It's never that easy" or trivial when programming. If you're imaginging bugs already then it's a good reason not to change it in the first place. The original reason it wasn't the maximum 32-bit integer was this returned a negative value once it was exceeded making people instantly broke

    Also: NO.MORE.TRADEMARKS!
  12. Yes. Tyger is my main.

The character I always wanted to play as.
The guy who has all the badges.
The guy who gets first dibs on any new systems that come out.
The guy who gets all the cash and/or supplies all the others.
The patriarch of my character lists and my accounts.
He'll be the guy who turns out the lights.

He's also my strongest concept, something which I feel is more than just what powers they wield.

Sitania for example was made when Thugs came out. She was made months after my first villain and overtook him, hitting 50 right before VEATs hit. She's also my easiest and hardest to play, straddling the line between weak and powerful. So much fun which is why I still enjoy playing her and she took the mantle of my main villain till GR came along and she got the job of being 'the Destroyer'. She's always the second I take through the new systems.

I would have also put him in the game as a character, rather than as a concept. The Statesman should never have been the icon of anything. He should have been put in as a man of great power, but with a personal life behind the mask.

The trouble with Jack's baby is we have no reason to care about him.
Pretty much that. He's long been the guy above us all and only comes to us directly for help because his long-standing rival has forced him to stay away (see STF).

I remember going through the tutorial of Champions and I was already fighting side-by-side with Defender. We battled through the facility and completed the objective and I still got to be the big hero.

I think I would've made Statesman the first guy we saw in Paragon Instead of being one of the last, the one we never saw till we had to do the old Praetorian Tyrant mission. The original premise was that heroes were coming to Paragon to 'answer the call' so I would've had him inducting the new arrivals and then move into their origin-specific stuff with a hearty goodbye, going off to fight whatever world-ending threat may cross his path at that point and perhaps charging you with defending the city in his absense.
  14. I happened to be picking sets for my Titan/Inv brute and I figure adding the Unique Aegis in there to start plugging the Psi-hole of Inv. I realise I have one sitting in a storage bin that's close to the level I need and being a proc; it doesn't matter too much since the value is the same all the way up when I notice it says:

Yeah, not a big deal, 0.7% decrease. I'm just curious as to why it was reduced (or even if it was)?

  16. Praetorians can't use an Ouro Portal. You get a message about needing to be a Primal.

No special badge for hitting 50 except the normal 50 badge with Praetorian flavour.

Best bet would be rejoining low level teams as you still earn xp while exemp'd and doing the 3 main zone events. There's also the Valentine event coming up in February.

Flashbacking Praetorian missions was going to happen, the original findthis text for Moral High Ground was '5 moral choices or Praetorian arc via flashback'. Nothing more has been said about it since the text was changed later.

And at least 6 Praetorians have got to 50 without switching and that was before First Ward came out.

This is a much more linear progression, and achieving a +2 level shift requires a bit of effort but comes in short order.
Or... remove the shifts from AVs in the Praetorian trials until we have more than the current five slots open. If the coming storm is supposed to be the dealiest entity we'll face then add it when we have to face their AVs, whatever form they take since they will most likely be gating the biggest trials behind the current Incarnate system.

This would mean 50s could contribute in the same way as on the Apex/Tin Mage Alpha TFs except they'd also earn ixp towards the rest of their slots.

Let me tell you about something that happened a long while ago: the team reward channel. It was a channel that told everyone exactly who got what in drops on your team and it was abandoned too.... because of the possible negative repercussions from having obnoxious team leaders demanding salvage and kicking players.

    • This would allow league and team leaders to increase the combat level of lower tiered players and increase the odds of a successful trial. No one gets excluded, and it allowes veterans and new players to mingle on even the hardest trial.
As with 1; removing the AV shifts for the Praetorian iTrials would counteract any mentor-roulette needed.

Honestly? I'm glad "Second Measure cries when we don't use it" because it's a horrible system for joining Trials and it will only get worse as more get added. It's fine for Holiday stuff and DFB because they are run consistantly.

It reminds me of matchmaking in the worst way: you get matched up with random players to do Trials which with the later ones require you to have level shifts and other iPowers to make any meaningful contribution.

What we need is a listing system like the Arena menu with all the open trials listed so we can join them as we see fit. Anyone who has an open league with space can then have spots refilled or filled in after the start which still doesn't happen.

I tried using it for iTrials. I once waited two seperate nights (I have two clients so I could base build on one while waiting on the main client) and nothing. I tried again one night, got on an iTrial and without a word being spoken I was kicked off the league. So I vowed never to use it again for the Incarnate trials.

The 'waiting times' are woefully inaccurate (average waiting time) for what people want in this game.

What we have right now is the inverse of that, where the best rewards/time are lumped into the lowest tier Incarnate trials which are getting repeatedly spammed.
And nothing's stopping them now except obnoxious "requirements" for later trials made by other players; trial leaders.

Good leaders can make use of what they have and still come out winners.
Bad ones can have all the +3s in the league they want and still fail.

Now you will/should notice I didn't mention gimmicks anywhere in that besides the AV-shifts, the gimmicks that I have seen are certainly challenging enough on their own that they don't need extra help. Marauder is a handful to a fresh league, Siege and Nightstar can be tough to beat while stopping their bossfarm assistance AND synchronising their health at the end, Keyes is very punishing without healing/regen auras on your side but the assumption by the Incarnate system devs is that everyone has all the shifts on all their alts that they take through which is why we're getting (+1) and (+2) AVs on the newer trials which leaves two choices: leech off the veterans while they try and cover your lack of shifts (and try not to let the pancake hit the fan in the meantime) or farm the 'easier' trials to get all your shifts first and then move on to the later stuff so you can't pancake it up simply by being on the trial in the firstplace.

When he says he watched as "you" defeated Neuron (Tin Mage MkII TF), "you" destroyed the BAF, "you" ransacked Lambda Sector; he's addressing the generic "you" in the same way any maniacal supervillain would address the 24 heroes about to come kick his *** and steal his pancake.

  25. Years ago, I took my grav/psi dom on a PUG with a couple of SG mates and some random searched lowbies. We picked a few missions in and around Port Oakes at the time. Family, Mooks, Hellions etc. All was going well till we hit an Arachnos base, the huge one with the training room and barracks.

We'd slowly cleared mob after mob but then we hit a roadblock; 3 mobs in a trivia of corridors all close together when bam, someone fired off an AoE and aggro'd NPCs from two of the mobs.... and they all came running, full mob sizes of 0x8. So we were fighting off two mobs with the most random assortment of lowbies you could get when we accidentally managed to aggro the third mob. A massive dogpile battle ensued, powers firing off left and right, healthbars plummeting to red and being restored by insps and healing aura from a thermal... and we were still somehow chatting

A real back-to-the-wall battle and our combination of powers, copious usage of insps and sheer doggedness meant we all survived. Not. One. Of. Us. Fell.

Now that felt epic. What should've been a full team wipe and the existing powers we had pulled us through.
