About the only time I've ever used Taunt is in PvP, and even then it's the pool power version (needed a power to get Intimidate). I tend to use it to stop those annoying stalkers trying to flatten the nearby squishies, but beyond that I've never seen a use for it.
In PvE, Taunt is close to useless. Chances are your tanker has a strong hold on the target, and your Taunt won't do much to break that. If there's a situation where you might be required to pull a mob off a team member, it's usually far quicker and easier to go over and smash the mobs face in the old fashioned way rather than rely on landing a Taunt.
Beaten mobs don't need taunting. -
Thanks to Golden Phoenix for that hillarious list. It really brightened my morning.
Best bumper stickers ever:

"The more people I meet, the more I like my dog."
"Women who seek to be equal to men lack ambition."
"Few women admit their age; fewer men act it."
"I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it."
"It's lonely at the top, but you eat better."
"Hard work has a future payoff. Laziness pays off NOW."
"Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot."
"Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else."
"Be nice to your kids. They'll choose your nursing home."
"Keep honking...I'm reloading...."
"So many stupid people... so few comets"
"All men are idiots, and I married their King."
"Love him like a king, train him like a dog."
"All men are animals, some just make better pets."
"If the screams from my trunk bother you, turn up the radio."
"Stress is when you wake up screaming & you realize you haven't fallen asleep yet."
"Sarcasm is just one more service we offer."
"If at first you do succeed, try not to look astonished."
"I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory."
"Nothing is fool-proof to a sufficiently talented fool."
"Sometimes I wake up grumpy; Other times I let him sleep"
"When you do a good deed, get a receipt, in case heaven is like the Inland Revenue."
"Why is 'abbreviation' such a long word?"
"Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself."
"Why be difficult, when with a bit of effort, you can be impossible?"
"A fool and his money are a girl's best friend."
"If you can read this, I can hit my brakes and sue you." -
It's nice to know CoX players are slightly more sane than the WoW generation. I don't care how big or mighty an expansion is, you won't find me in a 2000 strong queue waiting for it. I like the way they got into character (I'm an RP fan myself), but I think it's a tad overboard for a computer game...

Thunderspark; Plaid style skirts are a selectable characteristic of all pleated skirt options. Skirts/Shorts -> Pleated long etc. -> Pleated/Plaid.
[/ QUOTE ]I wuv you...
Thanks for the info. Now I can customise my new character!

Enterable mundane buildings.
For example, tower blocks. You can go in and it's a foyer, and you can get in the lift and travel around the building if you like.
This could then open up a world of new options (such as egg-hunting, or some other type of mission) based on a totally new territory which has been right under our noses since the game began!
[/ QUOTE ]I've always wanted to Crane Kick one of those annoying Outcasts from the top floor of that large building in Steel Canyon. Signed. -
I'm perfectly happy with the subscription fees at present. I also currently play Final Fantasy XI, which has a much higher cost, so perhaps I'm just used to paying more for my MMO's. All the same, I know the funding they gain from our fee's goes towards some good quality work. I've seen the evidence in the updates over the 15 or so months I've been playing, and they always find a way to surprise me it seems.
I'm not wealthy person, but im more than willing to pay for a service I think is worth the cost. -

it would also give rise to the possibility of gravity based powersets (gravity manipulation for a controller, gravity blast for a blaster).
[/ QUOTE ] You might want to take a look at Gravity Control.
What would I like... where to begin?
More clothing options: You can't have too much variety when it comes to clothing, and a customisation system as big as CoX deserves nothing less than a plethora of fresh material. Some nice shirts (minus tie) and more jackets would be lovely. They removed the old plaid skirts from the options (at least, I can't find it anymore, might be renamed) which was disappointing, since it's the only skirt I can wear which doesn't vanish in water... a bug which still persists for me.
Customiseable mastermind pets: Oh come on, you knew this one was coming; someone had to say it, and I still want my pink robots darn it!
A new lvl 50 free-for-all PvP area: PvP is a lot of fun in Recluse's Victory, but it tends to get very one-sided at times. This may change after I13 with the huge PvP changes, but all the same a zone where players can attack their fellow heroes or villains without losing all their epic powers would be really nice, and offer a lot of scope for battling. Allowing heroes + villains to team up in these areas instead of just heroes OR villains, would also mix things up a lot. After all, there are plenty of toons who toe the line between good and evil... just please, no heavies! -
I'd be interested to know exactly how much patrol experience is gained over time. Some of my characters could strongly benefit from this system (Hey, I have a lot of characters, some of them get left behind!) and im having a play with the test server to see if I can work it out on my own, but my maths is almost as bad as my hair was this morning...
-
I think im going to start "handling" the new system by saving up a few thousand merits and buying myself 5 Luck of the Gambler: Recharges for my speed-build Scrapper. Bless her, she's in dire need of some more hastening. I'm only at 125% after all...
-
I've been on the test server myself and so far im enjoying the changes. Admittedly my Defender is still pretty easy to beat, but at least I can fight back now! And no more perma-holds (which, despite what anyone says, are simply not fun for the victim or even remotely challenging for the assailant).
That being said, however, they've COMPLETELY removed status protection. Oh sure you can resist certain effects, like Holds or Immobs, but you can't prevent them taking hold entirely. That means that scrappers with stun powers can actually STUN tankers. But, to be fair, that's not even an issue any more. Thanks to their reduced durations, and coupled with the fact they no longer kill toggles, you're back on your feet and fighting back in no time at all.
What the update has done, so far at least, is level the playing field a lot more. No one AT is going to be the ultimate PvP'er anymore. You can have your backside handed to you by a lowly empath defender (Yay me! I actually beat someone for the first time on Thunderspark!) and blasters are no longer the undisputed kings.
It's put the 'fun' factor back into it. Okay, you can still be ganked to heck which can diminish your enjoyment, but I strongly feel that when this goes live we'll find a lot more PvE players finding their curious way into Recluse's Victory, Warburg and Siren's Call... and I for one can't wait.

Every PvPer in Game was a newcomer at some point.
I dont see how they can actively discourage people?
Explain how this is done btw?
[/ QUOTE ]Easily done by goads and general mud-slinging in PvP combat. Usually starts when player A (newbie) complains that he's being assaulted by players B, C and D, or singled out for assassination by another. It's borderline greifing, but the textbook response from many PvP players is "If you don't like it, get out." or "It's PvP. Anything goes.". It's not hard to see why some newcomers are put off the PvP scene. -
[ QUOTE ]
Also if you lose your mentor or are exemplarred would be better if the pets would just drop in level and only the ones beyond those you are entitled to drop rather than needing to respawn them all.
Also should apply to all ATs with pets not just MMs
[/ QUOTE ]Hmm... I don't like that idea. If im being lackeyed and suddenly my mentor goes some distance away while im in a fight, my robots can continue the battle before they're desummoned or I rejoin the group. If they suddenly dropped in level, it'd be an effective death sentence for me. Yeah, I realise that other players get that anyway, but then other players don't have to spend an age resummoning and upgrading them again. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm actually completely dissapointed with the "multi-build" idea. It'd be worthwhile if you could change primary and secondary powersets, but as you can't it's an over-hyped pointless addition to me, my build is great, I don't need to change it.
[/ QUOTE ]Perhaps, but there are plenty of players who would very much enjoy the option to have a second build for PvP or perhaps, in the case of a fire/kin for example, a farming setup and a team setup.
Changing your entire AT wouldn't make much sense to me. Can you imagine someone called "Pyro gal" suddenly swapping to an ice blaster set because she got tired of burning things? Or a robotics mastermind suddenly giving up her robots in favour of summoning the undead and using occult magic?
Could also be darned useful for swapping to a different type of travel power. Flight, for example, might be preferable against some opponents than Super Speed or Super Jump. Create seperate builds which use the one and switch depending on what's required.
More options are never a bad thing -
I vote for:
Pogo Stick: What could be a better and more enjoyable way to travel than to stick a pole between your legs and bounce up and down? Not recommended for acrophobes or those who've recently had a kebab. -
Thankfully I've never had a rude tell in-game. Had more than a few in teams though, but I won't repeat them here since the censorship would make them seem even more illiterate than the typist was originally.
-
Robotics - Targeting Drone. Raises player perception and boosts the accuracy of all pets in range.
Regeneration - Antibody: Grants incredible resistance to Stun, Confuse, Sleep, Hold, Immobilize and Endurance drains. Lasts 2 mins. Long recharge.
Super Reflexes - Deflection: Your incredible reflexes allow you to knock bullets out of the air and push blades out of harms way. 20% Resistance to lethal/smashing damage. Toggle power.
Martial Arts - Formless Strike: Your martial arts prowess is such that you can channel 'chi' in the form of an attack. Superior energy damage.
(That last one is to make up for MA's horribly resisted damage type) -
Sometimes it's actually easier to take out the Nictus' before you take on Romulus. After all, when you defeat Rommy, he ressurects himself using one of the available Nictus' so take them down and you only have to kill him once.
The biggest problem I find is that annoying stun. It lasts SO long and seems to be unavoidable, even with mez protection. You can pop Break Free's to null the effect, but it's still annoying. -
I love bringing back my Lich using Soul Extraction. The resulting spirit is quite powerful and is incredibly tough to take down. It's rare I see it get defeated unless im taken down myself or it's timer runs out.
Now if only my Lich would die a little easier... -
[ QUOTE ]
But maybe they don't die! Maybe the Vash are just bringing them back to their sewer-lair for tea and scones
[/ QUOTE ]I suppose jabbing the 'Infected' with a needle and watching them explode (with lovely green splashes, I might add) is just "giving them their medicine".
Kinda obvious why they chose green, it's more implicit, but we all know what's going on.
I kinda like targetable civvies. They're handy for my Siphons and heals on my Corruptor. But yeah, it'd be nice if we could faceplant them because, let's face it, villains are rarely friendly to civilians. -
[ QUOTE ]
Then there is the fact this is a mmorpg, not an arcade game from the past. Whoever wins in a fight here should NEVER be (fully) determined with the reaction speed of the players.
[/ QUOTE ]Hate to break the news, but most fights are down to reaction speed in CoX PvP. Doubly so when evenly matched.
As for the idea, I'll pass. Seems a bit Dragonball Z for my liking, and I was never that fond of the cartoon either. -
I think the weirdest one for me was entering a mission on CoV only to find there was no map whatsoever. Instead the entire team plummeted to the ground in a vast empty area (just sky to be seen, above and below).
We all logged out and back in again, but the bug remained. We smartly opted for a new mission shortly thereafter -
Mary Grace: My first character had to have something heroic-sounding for her name, and Grace encompasses a lot of good aspects: morality, mercy, good will etc. Mary was the mild mother of Jesus and, while im not very religious, it still carries with it an additional sense of righteousness. So the name choice was obvious, Mary Grace.
Silent Bloom: Deadly yet beautiful was the plan for my first villain character, a stalker. Naturally a stalker has to be quiet, and a flower blooming is usually quite pretty. So, Silent Bloom.
Most of the other's used their powersets as inspiration for the names. Thunderspark, for example, is an empathy/electric fairy character. Wandering Bard is a sonic/kinetic corruptor. My mastermind villain got her name simply because she's little and her name is Jenny... so not really very inspirational, but I like them all the same -
A few days late, but OMG! That Talsorian shield looks fantastic! Fire shields, ice shields, giant clumps of rock, manhole covers... I never expected there to be such novel innovation, just expected your bog-standard metal plate with a handle I guess.
I'm really looking forward to seeing these in action. Seems there's a shield for just about every character concept, and I absolutely can't wait for I13 now! -

The other PvP power changes, well its beasically a way to nerf powers in PvP without affecting PvE, which is a good thing for those who are mostly into PvE. I see Power Boost and Power Build Up as being top of the list to get this treatment.
[/ QUOTE ]
They may also be thinking of it as a way to boost PvE powers without unbalancing PvP? Justified or not, there have been long-standing grumbles about powers being nerfed in the past to serve PvP.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or like GW did, make each skill have different effects in PvP and PvE(mostly duraction, damage or strength though).
[/ QUOTE ]Maybe Super Reflexes (and other defense-based AT's) will finally be "super" in PvP again! I won't hold my breath for that one just yet though
As much as my heart pangs at the thought of waiting some more months for Architect, I honestly think they've done the right thing. All those wonderous features they might be able to squeeze in to make it even better than it already seems, and the custom villains (and perhaps hero helpers) are simply a must-have as far as im concerned.
At the risk of feature-creep, perhaps now would be a good time to offer some suggestions for the greatly anticipated I14: Architect. I could probably fill four pages with mine alone... -
With the advent of IO's though, Hamidon enhancements are less lucrative then they once were. That probably contributed a little to the fall of the Hamidon raid as well.

Wait, what?
[/ QUOTE ]Horde versus Alliance. It's the core of the entire game, like it or lump it. Sure there's non-PvP servers, but population wise they really suffer.
