Good move on I13/14
Could those of us that aren't paying attention to things get Source to what you're talking about?
ie. What's a good move?

I'm just waiting for someone to cough PL about the Levelling Pact. I'll await the details, but that sounds good for me as a casual player who plays with a few other casual friends.
edit: Wanted to get in there first for once and didn't read it through. Spelling amended.

This is.
Briefest of Summaries of the main point:
*The devs are doing a better (fuller-featured) initial launch than planned for the mission architect (due to listening to us pesky players!).
*That pushes architect back until early/spring 2009
* Rather than make us wait for everything, the mission architect is becoming I14 and the rest of I13 is being released in Autum/Fall.
(think I got that right)

And before anyone grumbles Multiple Builds looks cool as well. Nice idea. I'd guess PvPers will find it useful, but I'll be having a play with it as well to swap between team and solo sets.
(Anyone lend me some influence for all those extra IOs I'm going to need?)
This is an awesome move, i'm well happy here.
GR, if this is what you meant when you replied to my i13 rant post when you said more good things to come i might like.... You were spot on, i likey very much.
Split builds are awesome and PvP powers balancing..... Big thanks from me on this devs!
CoH PvP SG = SuperUnion - Co-Leader - Union/Freedom
CoV PvP VG = Disruption - Co-Leader - Union/Freedom
Global = @Rent & @Rent.
Playgroup are all **** - Global Handle
wooohooo i actually suggetsted a dual build thing years back! maybe they listened to me...
As for the bits we didn't know about or neccesarily expect (afaik)...
Dual builds: i.e. allowing characters to have two builds.
[ QUOTE ]
Another character customisation option and City of Heroes innovation, Issue 13 delivers the ability to have two different build-outs for each character, including which powers are selected and which Enhancements are slotted. With this feature it will now be possible for all characters to diversify their game experience by visiting any Trainer and switching the entire build of their character to an alternate one. You can use this separate build for whatever you like: if you wish to use different power selections for soloing and groups, you can do that. This even makes it possible to have different sets slotted for PVP and PVE. This new system gives characters the added depth and flexibility to tackle any challenge!

About time - this might get me into trying PvP more. Makes me wonder if this is just after looking at the odd request for it for years or if a push to PvP may be coming and it's in preparation for it.
Could even allow my most team-oriented defenders who could never ever consider soloing to have an alternate build that could stand a fair chance of fighting their way out of a wet paper bag. Joy!
Levelling Pact:
[ QUOTE ]
A new innovation to MMOs, this system allows you and a friend to create new characters and have your XP permanently in sync, whether both characters are online or not. You will always be the same level, even if your friend plays ten times more often than you do! Its sort of like Extreme Sidekicking.

Hmmm.. have to wait and see what this does for the game...
Does this mean that people really could get a 50 without them or anyone else having played it or having even logged in after creation? Hmmmmm....

I have to say I'm a little disappointed in the slip of the mission creator, it was the main thing I was looking forward to. However the things that are being added in i13 will to an extent make up for it. Levelling Pact for me is going to be great as I frequently run pairs of characters up that I much prefer to keep at the same level. How it will work I have yet to see but I hope it means that even with 'real' SK system partners my characters won't out level one another.
SG Base Overhaul prices or other wise is long overdue, and something else I am looking forward to.

Supergroup Base Repricing
Base Salvage is being replaced with Invention Salvage and all Base room and item prices are being adjusted to more accessible levels. Remaining base salvage can be traded in for invention salvage, or can continue to be stored in base and personal storage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats not the base overhaul i was hoping for.

PvE and PvP Powers Rebalancing
More details to come shortly, directly from Powers Designer Floyd Castle Grubb.

Dont like the sound of this, tbh to me it sounds like yet more nerfs to powers, as for the rest of I13 im not to botherd tbh nothing there that sets my world on fire

I'd be disappointed if it was just slipping.
I take it you read Posi's note:
[ QUOTE ]
The ability to create customised characters to fight with or against in your missions. Adding custom characters has always been on our Mission Architect feature list, but we had considered it a stretch goal. That is, we could launch the system without this feature because our confidence was high that the rest of the system was incredibly robust.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's slipping because the devs realised that the players love this idea and want to get it in by launch... and no doubt a few other smaller improvements will make it in.
This is good, surely.
In a years time no-one will recall that the mission creator was released later than initially planned, just that it was good. But if it released before Christmas but was a little disappointing or buggy we'd remember it as being poor forever... and how many people would look at it eagerly then decide it was overhyped rubbish and maybe never retry it when it's improved??
I'd much rather have a fully-featured mission creator that arrives <=6 months later than planned.

Have to say here NOT all players love this idea, im thinking more of the RP lot like it more as tbh i could careless about it, and making a whole issue for it to me is abit much
I'm really looking forward to the Mission Creator and am glad that they've delayed it for the reason they have.
The XP Pact thing is just awesome for someone who duos all the time.
I think they've made the right decision - hopefully we'll find out before the end of March next year.

When i think about it you have to wonder why instead of that half baked salvage change they couldnt have sorted out base permissions.

Never imagined that all players universally love or hate any one thing about CoX.
But Posi states that It became apparent that you guys really want this feature.
The official statement can be paraphrased as: This was done because enough of the playerbase seemed to really want the mission architect so we decided we had to do it correct and full featured from launch, rather than make an early, feature-poorer release and then polish it in later issues.
Now whether you want it or not, I'd rather have a dev team that do this sort of schedule rejigging based upon playerbase feedback than the kind of devs who stick to their initial plan no matter what.
Of course, I don't expect all players to agree with me on that...

Well, Im guessing (still hoping actually) that as its now I14 that is called Architect there will be base stuff in there as well. This kind of answers @Shockwaves thought as well as I did note the bit about I14:
[ QUOTE ]
More details to come!
[/ QUOTE ]
As in I14 already has lots of stuff planned for it and now the mission designer is being added to it.
Then i would have to ask where is the prof that player feedback has forced this change as in the past player feedback has NOT change the outcome of updates or changes made by the devs.
I also have faild to see the so called amount of player "love" for this feature that has been been claimed, anyway like i said some like it some dont as for me i dont and i just hope that issue 14 has more in it than just this .

This Intrigues me....Yet it does not comprehend, does this mean on "Character A" already has Fire/Rad but can also choose another powerset for example Earth/storm?
Alas a very bold move indeed!

They have not said you can have a new powerset, it means you can have two builds for your toon as is.
It means one char who is, say, a Tanker can have one build specifically for tanking in teams but another for soloing, like having an instant respec.
I am the Blaster, I have filled the role of Tank, Controller and Defender
Sometimes all at once.

Wouldnt have thought so, its just gonna be the powers within the sets.
Still a great idea though i think.
Not quite as big as GR tried to make us think... though a good sign that the mission architect is being done properly at launch. Splitting that off into I14 helps turn feature creep and delays (of architect) into something good as far as I can see.
Hopefully we'll see I13 before too long now...
