  1. Since I got my new monitor (that will not go above 60mhz at any reasonable resolution) I have been getting horrible eye strain and migraines when playing this game far more often (like it wasn't bad enough before). The worst culprits are areas where the camera jumps around, like in caves with low ceilings and especially when there is 'ambient lighting' such as the torches and glowing crystals (the lighting ones not the ones that cause damage or give regen) in the CoT caves, and some other maps, like boats.

So my question is, 'Is there any setting that I can change that will turn that extra lighting off (preferably), or down (if nothing else), or anything that will not pull my eyes from their sockets?'

Most caves are bad enough, but the CoT ones I have to just keep my map open and stretched out to fill my whole screen to make it through the thing or I just can't look at the screen, every slight move of the camera brings another glowing thing into my face. Something has changed with the 'ultra' mode (or close to that time period) that makes that extra lighting intolerable to my eyes. They weren't good to begin with, but man, I dread every time we get a mish on those maps, I have had to abandon many a mish/team because of it.

I have tried many things, including turning down almost every setting I can think to be connected in anyway (like turning off bloom) and while I can't see much in the way of powers (or base portals until I am on top of them) any more, the lighting effects are not changed in any way.

I wish I could get a new monitor, but it is too late to return this one and I can't afford a new one anytime soon.

Oh well, thanks to anyone who might have a suggestion. I know there are many people out there who know these settings far better than I.
  2. While I have many issues with this buggy system, I have a couple of suggestions that might make this far more useful and make you more money.

    1) reorganize the "NEW" tab to order things in order of newness. As in the Newest items first in the list. (not listing things that are only new because the market itself is new, you go to new now and you basically see every item there is).

    2) Add a tab for "Unowned" Items.

Since you guys will not make it so we can not buy things we do own (by taking away the 'buy now' button).
This way people will not have to scan through sometimes 12 or more pages of stuff they probably do own to see IF they can find one they may or may not own, that just happened to be added with no notice (because this happens a LOT).
We have the "Hide Unowned Recipes" option for the Invention Table, why can we not have the opposite in the store? (...of course, because it makes sense! /facepalm!)

I know I have seen items that have been avbl. for days that I didn't know about because I didn't want to spend hours pouring over the market in hopes that there just might be something 'new' to me. If there was an easy way to see any new or unowned items it would be far more likely they would sell more units, faster. (Especially now that many of the unowned items are also not showing up in the costume creator either!)

Other than the bugs that seem to cause random items to end up (unseen) in the cart, but charge you for them anyway and other bugs that cause us problems there, Either one or both of these ideas would make the store much easier to use and very likely make you more money as well as make the players happy, which in turn also makes you more money, unhappy players are less likely to spend. (I know the sheer greed, (and lack of bug fixes so we can work on more stuff to sell, like the pilgrim hat that didn't even make it out before Thanksgiving, or yet, and unlike the chainmail, seemed to look just fine...), of this system has got me looking for another game, not finding one... but I AM looking. But I will use that same greed to try to push these ideas to make the players lives easier)

I am sure there are other ideas that could help the market improve its functionality, but since I am sick with a head full of snot that's all I can think of atm, so I will leave it up to others to add more ideas... (like maybe something else we can do with our 'reward tokens', cash them in for points or something... looking like it is going to be a long time before I have something to spend those on, if ever)

  3. well you can say not to change it, but "Below Normal" is not good enough to run the game, it gets all laggy. Can't even walk smoothly. It won't change to anything other than below normal (unless I close Firefox). This is a problem. If it is something in the game, then it needs to be fixed. But if I close FF then I can change the priority to CoX, np. Doesn't sound like something working the way it should to me.
  4. Any chance at all that the New Account Item message could pop up only when the items are actually NEW?!?!
  5. I am just bummed its the new CoT outfits and not the old ones. I still want a plain basic robe/dress. I was hoping that they were finally offering it to us after 7 years of us begging (since the real ones got an up date it would have been nice to get the hand-me-downs at least). But nope. Only the flashy new ones that I can not tell apart.

Every dress or robe option is left out to keep it out of the players hands. That is fact. Too many people want it to be anything less. You can rationalize it anyway you want, but out of our hands is out of our hands.

At least one new character in the new zone gets one, the roman npc's (oracles on both) get some, the Oni pet gets one.... Do we? no. The rest of the ninja do martial arts kicks, does the Oni? I haven't noticed, but if so that's another argument against that being an issue.

and yes, hats and hair should be two separate things, period. Even if that requires you to redesign a 'with hat' version of each hair style. (or helmet or whatever). Just like the belts and tails should be different (and are finally), and the beards and other facial decorations should be different. If I have a beard I can't smoke? If I have horns I can't have glasses? and so on.
At least this one didn't have gender specific options like so many others, or pieces that have parts you can not color (at least not that I have seen so far).

I know this isn't the right place, but since I won't be coming back here again for a while this is close, on the Trench Coat (probably others too) the "Over" chest detail goes half on the jacket and half on the collar. (at least on the females) and looks bad, it should be moved over to the character's left just a bit.

If you guys want to stay a head as the best character creator on any game, gotta keep making it better, sometimes that means rethinking the way it works, like maybe adding a 3rd color, or once again separating out more of the options so we have more choices. And more ways to combine the choices we have.
It also might help if everything were not squished into the center of the screen (can barely even see the weapons I am choosing) and if we zoom in on the lower half of the body, like the boots, that it actually zooms into the boots and not the belt.

    Quote:
Shoulders, weapons, wings, backpacks. Not just at the default pose but think of running, jumping, attacking, etc.
I have so many characters that have that issue with so many pieces already I don't see the problem. It's a game not a movie. I Ninja Run with a Sword in my neck or chest all the time.
  6. Personally I hate doing it, it's boooooooring. But to judge by the incarnate system, I am going to say they pretty much require it.
  7. the costume packs will NOT be half the price they are now, you miss read that,
    Quote:
400........$5.00......................Complete Magic Costume Set (from the Magic Pack)
note the (from the magic pack) part of that.
That means that you get one costume out of the set, in the magic example, you get the baron costume from that set for $5 then $5 more for the witch one, and then there are the emotes and the auras, and so on. So to get all of the stuff from that one booster pack you will pay a lot more.
Their should still be a way to buy the whole booster pack for 800 points then, but I am willing to bet that will not be the case.

I wouldn't mind this so much if they were not getting rid of the old way to buy things. It sounds like it will cost us a lot more to continue to have access to literally everything. Even taking into account the "$5 Bonus". The fact that they are giving us that "bonus" means there will lots and lots of things to "buy" on top of your $15 monthly fee and less and less things will be included in that fee. Just like when the booster packs started and that was that many less costumes and so on included in each issue.

You can look at it as $10 a month + $5 for points, but when they charge you more for the same stuff or you are the type who will not likely spend those points, then it's not like you can choose not to buy those points. I just can't look at it as any kind of a bonus, especially when they decided to stop giving us the vet rewards too. I figure those 400 points will just barely cover buying the equivalent of a new vet reward every 3 months, like base portal or buff pet.
I really don't like the idea of getting rid of the vet rewards because this doesn't even begin to replace it. It doesn't even cover the cost differential from how much more the booster packs will cost.
My biggest fear is that new characters made after this scheme goes live will no longer be able to claim their rewards. I don't think I could get by without my sands of mu and blackwand and all of the other things I have gotten so used to over the years.
I am jsut glad that after what will be a year and a half (of almost nothing of interest to me) or so by the time i21 comes out, we will finally get a new power set (the only thing that looks interesting there, I was really excited about the new zone, until I found out it was Emp Cole's private garden! Could have been the moon, or underwater, or a space station, or any of the other things requested over the years, but no, it has to be more of the Annoyance Fest, Praetoria).
Finally something beyond QoL improvements (- the new team windows and leagues that are more annoying than anything else) that will affect my game other than running into large groups of yellow names hanging about all over waiting for their next tf to start... oh and new contacts I have to avoid like the plague but yet get thrown in my face at certain levels.

But on the bright side since They no longer want to take my money in exchange for items in a direct transaction, then this game just got cheaper for me, because I won't buy points, that's too close to buying in game money or buying exp, and that's insane. Too much like 2nd life. Even if it means I have access to less stuff, if that last booster is an indication of the level of detail and quality going into the ones coming up then I don't want them anyway. I don't even think I have spent merits (other than the first time to try) other than the rikti ones you have to to make an alpha enh (well, unless you want to keep farming and farming and farming) which I have basically giving up on anyway because it's jsut grinding, ad infinium without the exp to make it interesting. Instead of random drop shards it should be a straight xp like thing, so it is fair. Like EQ's Alt. Advance Xp. A Much Better system.

Just one more thing to be disappointed about this game and the direction it is going. ...and pretty much gaming in general...
  8. between the colorizing issues, the unabashed sexism, and the time limit on the travel power this is going to be the first costume pack I will not be buying.
Seriously guys, enough with the sexism. Despite the Victorian age style of this pack, we do not living in the Victorian age.
  9. I just hope the new zone isn't as annoying or offensive as the last set, i.e. Praetoria (deadly war walls, as if the reg ones weren't bad enough, the solo only missions, and the ambushes, enough with the wave after wave after wave of bushies! jeeze, finally made it through all 4 arcs and I will never go back).
My vote has always been either the moon or an underwater zone. We are all Supers, so either we don't need to breathe air, or we can get some kind of spell/pill/device/potion/etc. could be a lot more fun than in most games. (then we could get costume pieces for space suits and/or diving suits, more fins, webbed fingers and feet, etc.). The only place we can go under water is one map of the 'new' caves from the Cim zones, a 'new' area that had a lot of potential that just got abandoned. (at least I could run around those caves without getting a migraine, unlike the old ones, so I am glad they have started to worm their way into the rest of the areas too at least).
Outside of the QoL improvements (and some of them like the new team window are just awful) they haven't added many things that I could participate in/enjoy for the better part of a year. So I really hope this isn't just blowing smoke...
I still say the easiest way to eliminate many of the problems is to just get rid of the team size requirement for all missions, it would be a pretty easy 'fix' to this issue. That way even casual players can do them, just do one or two missions in the arc and pick it back up the next time we play those toons. I mean I have soloed tf's when I got stuck in then back in the old days when I still bothered to group with random people occasionally, couldn't bring myself to quit, so I just muddled through it over the course of a week or so. I know some people add members just to get the requirement and then abandon to do it, but that's a pita, and shouldn't have to be that way.
  10. As well as what it listed before my vote goes for if nothing else, Ice Def for brutes.

and maybe the ability to do all of the new stuff that has been added for the last year without needing to get a group together. (in other words, let me try to solo the stupid TF if I am so inclined to try) Even if I am doomed to fail, it should be my right to try.
There is no mission that should require a certain # of people, this goes double for the solo only ones in Preat. The only reason that should be required is for that annoying one that you have to click X items at the same time, and that one you can get solo! (and is stupid anyway).

Give us the option to turn off the prompt for the fortune buff. or re do the recharge so that it can be recast in 10 sec so if someone misses the button (that can be hard to click on, especially if you are not expecting it) it can be re cast with out a long wait.

I also like the expanded Pool powers idea from another post, as well as adding new pool powers, something I don't think has been done in the whole 7 years.

yeah, we have been asking for a staff melee for almost the whole 7 years. (or even just as a costume piece)

Oh and please give us an option on the team window that gives light colored bars on a dark background so that we can see the bars. This new 'classic' team window is like classic coke, similar, but different!
I want normal bars with a high contrast so I can easily see them. I am getting old and going blind, I can't read the numbers on the enh's I cant see the bars, OR since it is part of the UI make it so we can choose the colors like we can for the rest of it.

and for the 700th time, more long hair options for men! preferably ones that are longer than the medium one you call long, if it is not below the shoulders, it is not long hair, it's medium.

oh, and a headband option for men, similar to the tiaras for the women. Just merge all the pieces, everyone should have access to every piece, seriously.

Subjective feedback: One. I hate, hate, HATE companies that try to gather "usage statistics" and slap the 'recommended' label on the option. I don't mind that you'd like the information, understand that it's useful to you, but the mere fact that you're essentially lying about the reasons for wanting it by saying it's for MY own good immediately causes me to shut it off and strongly not want to do further business with the company.

Second, the NC Launcher uses five times the RAM and runs continuously in the background whether being used or not. Not an issue for me personally, but some people are still running on minimum specs and this will make the game fail to run at all, or run so poorly that it's not worth playing.

While I understand that this is an order from on high from the corporate overlords, I am going to make one last appeal to let those of us who prefer it keep the old launcher. Warts and all. I really don't give a flying leap about "those other games" and thus, having "all your NC Soft Games in the same place" is at best a non-concern and, at worst, an annoyance that makes me want to find an NC exec and make incredibly rude noises at them.

EDIT: Also, adding one last bit of Objective: Download speed is noticeably DEGRADED on my connection by the launcher (about 10k/bps loss.)
agreed, this thing is annoying and offensive, I will continue to use the old. ones thank you. If it gets to the point where I can no longer use the old. one I will stop logging in because I don't want to have to turn it on, log in and turn it off, annoying. I don't like programs that do things without me telling them to, especially update. That is never something I want to just randomly happen in any program, ever.
I have enough things that I have to run in the background already to the point that if I have a video or two open it fills half of my screen (wide screen mode).
Between this and the fact that almost everything new for a long time now has been annoying or TF related, I am getting really burnt with this game. So many bugs and other things getting ignored so you guys can work on new TF's, whoopie! How about fixing it so I don't get rooted half the time when my aoe heals go off? Or when the mobs in the mission are not what level they are set at?

There hasn't been a new powerset or even a prolif since before GR, and it's just been a downward spiral ever since.

If all you want to make are TF's then how about reducing the required # of people to like 2 or 3 tops so those of us who don't like large groups can do them too. So what if it's harder, I have soloed a few TF I got stuck in because I don't like quitting, but you guys aren't leaving me much choice.

They're looking to seriously cash in on the pre-purchasable perk of early powerset access. It's kinda disgusting.
exactly, with finances the way they are these days I can't afford to waste the extra $15, and I was all ready to preorder too... too bad I was enjoying my dual pistols guy. Guess I'll just stay on test as much as I can in the mean time... lol

for those who haven't figured it out by the other post they did about this...
the power sets are not part of GR (comes out in july), but part of i17 that comes out in june-ish, as is the "ultra-mode" graphic boost.

The item pack for the full ver consists of
    • Alpha- and Omega-themed auras
    • Alpha and Omega themed costumed sets
    • Four stance emotes
    • The Shadowy Presence invisibility power

**the monthly fee on EQ was $10 and if you played on the test server (like i did all the time) then the expansions were all free too.
  16. I too have been waiting to see a whip in this game for years, too bad it's only a MM, but hopefully one of these days...
  17. I would like to be able to recolor all of the choices too.

no, even if you have the collectors DVD code on your account you have to do something to unlock the cape, like get 20 and do the cape mish, or buy the magic pack. the 2 dvd capes are not avbl in a single shoulder cape either if i remember right.

the heroes version (Collectors Ed.) is avbl on amazon for about 100$ US but the villians one is there for just over 10$ US. so the villians one is worth it because you get the free month too, but the heroes one not so worth while to me, but only way to get that power that I know of unless there was a power pack to buy, i remember a new one of those though that might fit your needs there. (but that's all off topic...)

...Never thought the Epic's were all that Epic either, would be much closer if not for the freeking voids and Q's, trav power (read Flight) at lvl 1 (or 6) is nice though. But I don't like being forced to team and that's what that basically does. It would be really kewl if they added a new 'epic' but I doubt that seriously.

I just hope that the collectors version of GR will be avbl for preorder too.
I wont pre-order the reg one and then buy the other if it means I have to pay $70 to do both, I'll just wait for July, as much as I hate waiting for something that we have been waiting on for over a year now hehe...

the 'Evil' Twins better have goatees though!!! even the women! it's requirement, unless of coarse the original has one, then the 'evil' twin should not... (after all the villain would consider his/her good twin the evil one, they are the good one, obviously! hehe)

  19. well I love WP (haven't made a regen since it came out, and that was my fave before that), paired it with almost every attk set, and in most cases never used the fighting pool. Pairing it with the DB set (as was, sort of, intended) does give it a leg up with the weaken combo and such. The trick to utilizing the 'rise to the challenge' is stay on the 'boss' and let the aoe's take care of the rest. I tend to use the taunt from the attack set, on those occasions when I bother to group, so I rarely notice the lack on the toggle, but did get out taunted by an invuln scrapper (lol) and he only had the toggle. But at least it has a toggle taunt, unlike say Energy for example (brute only so far, and that's probably why).

Point is slotted right with dual blades (or some other debuffing AP) w/o any pools, (other than fitness of coarse) I have soloed +7's, fought Nosferatu to a stand still as an AV (sadly even as an EB too) heh. My favorite story was soloing all of the waves of DE at the ending of the Eden Trial w/o using a single insp.

It's a great soloing power. It's only real weakness are alpha strikes. but it makes up for it by having no other real shortcomings. "Ow, Lots of Damage All at Once, My Kryptonite!!!! NOOOooooooo..."

The "set it and forget it" mode it pretty useful when you are playing dual blades and trying to get a combo off, time is limited and the draw time after reconstruction sheathes your weapons is annoying, bad enough on the SoW, wish I could keep my sword in my hand for the "I Have the Power" Pose for that one. =)
  20. Over all I like it, but would REALLY like to see it optional. Even if you don't bring back the old version as an option, you should still be able to turn it off. I don't like 'features' that don't give me a choice whether I use them or not.
  21. In order to make regen for brutes you would have to change it a lot, oh, wait, they did that already, its called WillPower...
  22. Now while I will agree that the damage taking ability does seem low by the standard of the avj brute/tank, I can work around that, not what I call a hole per say. What I call a hole is the lack of passive aoe auto taunt, in fact they have one that does the exact opposite. While soloing that helps make up for the lack of damage taking ability it does nothing for being the group 'tank' (by tank i mean the job on the team, not the class, MeatShield if you will). There are pool powers that make up for lack of dmg resistance but there isn't one to make up for that, closest there is would be the taunting pool, but that isn't really the same thing.

While energy aura is a fun set, and lends itself really well to a stalker or even a scrapper, but I don't consider it appropriate for a brute or a tank the way it sits now. If you want to play your brute stalker style or scrapper style it's awesome, but to play like a brute it is detrimental to your party members.

As for every toon needing XX pool power, if every one needs it then it is irrelevant to the debate, because they all have it. While I agree that almost every toon need fitness (few exceptions) I have yet to take fighting on a brute/tank (tho i did take it on a regen scrap i had) and I do quite well over all.

and for comparing to WP, I know logic has little to no place in a game, but Energy Aura (as well as most of the rest) is someone with a super power and willpower (in theory) is not. we all know in game that is just not the case, WP has hard core regen if nothing else. but if we were using logic inv would be the #1 and stone #2, seriously, who really thinks the Thing could take the Hulk or Superman in straight up damage resistance? just not happening.

The RMTs often disguise themselves as legitimate players(having a real person there to respond to checks devs may do occasionally). As to "if you lost valuable stuff to an RMTer you errantly invited to your SG, it's you're own damn fault, not the devs, and trial accounts oughtn't have to pay the price for your error." How would you know someone was a RMT, beside the obvious names like dshgdkjrty and such? If a RMT has a normal looking name, would you actually expect someone to be able to tell that the persons a RMT? And I dont believe anyone expects the devs to give back any items/inf lost to RMTs stealing from the SG, as I believe I saw somwhere that the devs have said that they wont do refunds/replacements on items lost to scams. Not sure, but thats how I remember it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, I do not expect you to instantly know, what I expect of a sg (inviter) is to not invite someone you haven't at least teamed with, get a feel of the player before asking them to join, but hey thats me...

Ive seen spam in Broadcast before, on Freedom, so consider yourself lucky.

    [/ QUOTE ]

but if they do that then all of the people in the zone see it and report it, so its really not an issue... /t's and email are the real concerns.

    [ QUOTE ]
Which leaves us with the prickly issue of tells. It has been pointed out, correctly and at some length, that tells are an integral part of the process most players use to get a team, or to recruit one. The idea has been put forward that trial accounts be allowed to respond to tells but not to originate them. This solution, while interesting, will prove ultimately unfeasible.

It works from the inherent (and invalid) assumption that tells function as a sort of in-game AIM conversation, which one person can initiate and another can respond to, and they do have that effect. But in practice, the mechanics of the game are such that every tell sent would be accounted as a new conversation, not merely a continuation of an old one. Most of use that handy little backspace key to reply to tells, but all that amounts to is a keybind that fills in the first part of what we're doing, the routing information. But that's not actually replying. There is nothing to reply to as far as the software's concerned. It's just a new communique from point A to point B, and the system doesn't remember if something went from B to A first.[ QUOTE ]

How do you know this? And besides, if "There is nothing to reply to as far as the software's concerned.", then how does it know whose name to start a tell to? I dont know about you, but if I hit backspace, on my regular account, I get (without quotes) "/t Playerwhosenttellsname, ". Maybe its an error somewere if you dont get that. Or, maybe you mean the game doesnt store the message? Im not 100% on what youre trying to say here, but I can say that I dont see how sending and replying to tells arent separate, you'll need to explain that. Also, I found out today that if you're afk, the auto-reply saying you're afk doesnt appear, and just makes you appear rude, as though you're simply ignoring someone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
This leaves us with a problem since, clearly, RMTers are abusing tells, but we still need something to fulfill the role that tells fill for teaming for most players, and simply replying to a tell is outside what the system has been designed to handle. Rather, I would suggest that, with their new-found ability to expand the number of global channels, the devs create server-specific channels for trial accounts to communicate to one another, to allow them to team and learn together, with an explanation in the GMOTD of all trial accounts what that channel's for, and what sorts of questions should be directed to help. Otherwise help's going to be overloaded and people with legitimate questions won't be able to get them answered for all the people ignoring the channel.

Those are just my thoughts, take them as you will.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Now THIS I can agree with! Thatd be very helpful(pun intended )

I do understand what you ment, and this really isnt that difficult, though it would require a bit of reprogramming, in one of the MMO's i have played (the first one EQ) they have many chat commands one of witch is /t for tell and another is /r for reply as well as the hotkey like our backspace (R in this case), but if you type /r it will reply back to the last person to send you a /t without the need to type anyones name, the down side of that is that if someone else gives you a /t while you are typing then it will go to the wrong person. the other aspect of this command in that game is if you hit the hotkey for reply, and while that is in the typing box, you can then tab thru the list of all the people who gave you a /t while you were on. by implementing this command you can allow the trial accounts to reply to /t's w/o letting spammers abuse the /t system. again the down side is that this will still make teaming difficult at best for the trial accounts considering how many of us completely ignore blind invites. and on top of that because of how I feel about blind invites I refuse to send one, so if someone wont reply to my /t to say that yes, they wish to join my group then i wont send an invite. now mind you i am not big on teaming, and tend not to do it myself due to all the years i have put into these games i am very choosy but i remember what it was like back when i started and i know that it is an important part of these games to most people, especially if you are playing a defender or the like. personally i feel if you can't solo your guy then you have no business in a team, thats how you learn how your guy works and what his/her limitations are (yes there are exceptions to every rule). If this is truly that players first time not only in this game but also these types of games in general then they may need that extra help to get the hang of it etc. the starting player can also look at this game as a regular rpg with a big chat room built in lol

I am not saying that the trial account needs to be 100%, there can be some limitations (in this case due to utter necessity) but the real new players should get to experience the things that make this game that much better than "the VAST majority" things like the real trav powers and the capes. I fully understand the need for limitations but a lot of this feels like bushwacker tapping a million phones to try to find one terrorist. taking away the rights and privileges of the vast majority to stop the handful of 'bad people' is NEVER a good idea.

as for the 50k limit, I know how much i have spent on DO's at lvl 12, and I can safely say its well over 50k usually (and about 800k at lvl 22 for SO's), 100-250 is plenty restrictive to the RMT's (seeing as how they tend to advertise 10mill a popand most trial players wont be affected unless someone tries to give them cash or they get lucky at WW and then what you can do is get WW to hold the cash and not give it to the player until they get a live account, but then we might have to get rid of the 60 day log in thing at WW, but what a bugger that is anyway. if not that then we need a vault like WW where we can store things w/o the worry of deletion. It wasn't needed when the game started really but now that we have items in game. ...but i'm getting off topic...

as for the limits we are talking about an mmo, the real money is not made from selling copies of the game but in the monthly fees, the trial account is 2 weeks, thats pretty limiting by it's self. especially after you take the time to download the client, and then the program and then patch it, that is basically a full night proses so there is one day of play out of 2 weeks taken up right off the bat.

as for the seizure bug it happened to me with flight, upon zoning or trying to zone, though i don't play my flying people often
