Since I got my new monitor (that will not go above 60mhz at any reasonable resolution) I have been getting horrible eye strain and migraines when playing this game far more often (like it wasn't bad enough before). The worst culprits are areas where the camera jumps around, like in caves with low ceilings and especially when there is 'ambient lighting' such as the torches and glowing crystals (the lighting ones not the ones that cause damage or give regen) in the CoT caves, and some other maps, like boats.
So my question is, 'Is there any setting that I can change that will turn that extra lighting off (preferably), or down (if nothing else), or anything that will not pull my eyes from their sockets?'
Most caves are bad enough, but the CoT ones I have to just keep my map open and stretched out to fill my whole screen to make it through the thing or I just can't look at the screen, every slight move of the camera brings another glowing thing into my face. Something has changed with the 'ultra' mode (or close to that time period) that makes that extra lighting intolerable to my eyes. They weren't good to begin with, but man, I dread every time we get a mish on those maps, I have had to abandon many a mish/team because of it.
I have tried many things, including turning down almost every setting I can think to be connected in anyway (like turning off bloom) and while I can't see much in the way of powers (or base portals until I am on top of them) any more, the lighting effects are not changed in any way.
I wish I could get a new monitor, but it is too late to return this one and I can't afford a new one anytime soon.
Oh well, thanks to anyone who might have a suggestion. I know there are many people out there who know these settings far better than I.
