Pretty much what I expected. Didn't think Steel would be a hotspot, but I guess the Vault, WW and University all being close helps draw crowds.

On one of the server's global channels last night, someone said Scrapyarder walked into a Winter Lord spawn, and the two started duking it out.
Sadly it ended rather predictably - a stalemate. Few (if any) GMs poses the DPS necessary to overcome the regeneration they tend to have. -
Other than just hijacking a portal and grabbing the exploation badge, I find one of the easiest ways blue side is the mission from the science store in bricks.
Easy to forget about those stores, what with the vanguard/chimerora vendors and IOs... -
Quote:Not really a beginners' guide, but if you plan to stick around for any length of time Paragon Wiki is one of the best resources out there (if you ever google it, avoid the old wikia site).Well any beginners guides out there with a link would be appreciate because I honestly feel like Im wondering around the world saving the same people with the same problems for the same ammount of tiny exp.
One thing to remember about Praetoria is that the content only goes to level 20. While we are now free to return and explore, everyone leaves for either Paragon City or the Rogue Isles. Other than badges, there's really not much reason to go (back?) to Praetoria after lvl 20 (yet?). So that is probably not helping in the perception of population.
EDIT: Reading closer, wiki was already mentioned. Aah well, can't mention it enough, really. -
My /SR scrapper uses elude to hit the runspeed cap (for a short while). Don't use that power for much else, honestly.

Quote:On characters that can't both survive an EB's assault for long, and deal enough damage to overcome the regen his copies give him, I have two strategies;Could anyone give me a few hints on how to solo Trapdoor on a fire/ice tank? It's become a matter of priciple that I do it. Thanks in advance.
1: whenever the message that he's making a copy appears, go kill it.
2: Pull him into the lava. As a fire/* tank, this is should be about as damaging as a caltrops patch for you (not so much for Trapdoor). But if the damage is still an issue, you can get him near the edge so you can pound him while he's in the lava, but you aren't.
Beyond that I only have general advice that applies to any EB; if you can tank his damage, load up on red insps. if not? bring some purples with you too.
Useful temp powers; Envenomed Dagger (found easily for cheap at WW/BM), Shivan, warburg nukes, if you have the vanguard merrits, the HVAS... -
I was going through the patron arc on my dominator, chose Mako, and when I finally get to McKnight to beat him down, he had some things to say about the missing ship and "Hey... Isn't this the same dock where Captain Mako took out Scrapyard? I got a bad feeling about this..." Then he proceeded to kill his Knives of Artemis guards.
I just figured he wanted to fight me 1 on 1. You know, honorably or something. Of course, being evil, I said 'no', and let my man-eating plant friend help me curb-stop the moron. -
Quote:I use it a fair amount, but even when I do, I usually end up taking the pre-requisite 1 or 2 power choices later anywayThe ability to take travel powers at level 6 is nice, but most of the prerequisites are useful in their own right. Combat Jumping, Hover, Hasten, and Recall Friend are all useful powers that most people I've talked to don't skip anyway. Add Ninja Run and the ease of acquiring temp travel powers into it and you have a vet reward that is a lot less useful than it sounds (I have that one, and I haven't taken advantage of it yet).

Easy enough for me to quickly test some of this;
Elec/Devices blaster, 16% damage bonus from sets. Target - lvl 1 hellions (after waiting for the damage buff from summoning the pets to subside)
- Gun Drone
- -Without Musculature Radial Boost, enhanced to +98.3% damage. result - 111 damage (per tick)
- -With MRB, enhanced to +112.6% damage. result - 119 damage (per tick).
- Voltaic Sentinel
- -Without MRB, enhanced to +97.9% damage. result - 528 damage.
- -With MRB, enhanced to +112.2% damage. result - 566 damage.
- Gun Drone

Yeah, I'm going to have to go with "depends on the situation"
Case 1 - claws/sr scrapper
While it may be trivial for some on these boards to softcap the defense to all three vectors, I was over it on melee, close on range, and AoE was hovering around 39%. I picked up combat jumping (thank-you inerrant fitness), and moved a few sets around. This got me closer to softcapping all three, but AoE was still under.
So I went with Nerve. I switched out a couple acc/dam IOs for dam/end from the same set, the hold benefits Char from my APP... and when very rares are available, this hovering scrapper will get a speed increase from the radial paragon. The defense portion (what gets by ED), puts me above 45% on all three vectors, and provides a healthy buffer against defDebuff.
Not sure anything else would do too much anyway; I don't have endurance issues (range and resistance are even more useless). Claws already has quick recharge times, and hasten makes it even less an issue (heal and disorient are not needed). Musculature is the only other tempting ability.
Case 2 - elec/devices blaster
I went with Musculature. While all my attacks were pushing heavily against the enhancement diversification wall before, the extra 11% is not to be scoffed at. Especially if you consider my tendency to place large mine piles to take out tricky EBs while solo. That 11% is the equivalent of at least 2.5 extra mines on the pile.
("There is no 'overkill.' there is only 'open fire' and 'I need to reload.'")
The defense debuff aids melt armor a bit; and whenever we get into the rares - immobilize will improve web grenade. And then there is the End Mod in the musculature radials. Elec blast, without Short Circuit, does not drain that much endurance. But if you enhance the end mod portion, even 33%, the effect starts to become noticeable.
Case 3 - Arachnos Soldier, AoE Crab spec.
Spiritual.
There was no other choice. The 5 AoE attack chain was a bit slow, I wanted the spider pets and omega maneuver to have less down time. Additionally, Serum (heal, +max HP) is more effective, and ready more often (I also placed the numina's unique in here, so having that ready more often helps with endurance issues.)
Case 4 - Broadsword/elec scrapper
I haven't started this one's incarnate path yet, but I'm thinking Cardiac; alleviate some endurance issues and boost survivability a smidgen. Spiritual is tempting, but I fear with my play style that will only lead to more endurance problems. -

I've tried that tool (win7), but the result is the same as print scren, a big black rectangle - only thing that worked for me was switching to windowed mode, for some reason that's the only way I can get print screen or the snip tool to work.

Quote:Pretty sure the OP says random things to get a reaction from people.I think the original poster is a good example of a console gamer not being informed on just how expensive their console games are. I used to play console games regularly and didn't want to pay a subscription fee either. I tried CoH on a free trial and heard on chat channels about the previous content updates and some speculation about the upcoming Going Rogue. I actually think NCSoft should be blowing their own horn a lot more about this games constantly evolving content. When console gamers understand their 15$ is really buying tons of games and new ones are added all the time they're much more likely to subscribe. I know I was, and it was player chatter that sold me on it. Maybe the marketing department could really trumpet that accomplishment. Comparing the 50$ for every new thing or 15$ a month for constantly new and fun stuff to do is easy math for anyone.
In order to better fit this post in with general forum content DOOOOOMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!
*Begins Google search on designer tinfoil hats* -
If you have Steam, until the sales end (in 24 hours) all NCsoft games are 33% off; $26.79US for Going Rogue Complete edition, and $13.39US for the Architect Edition (You'd have a full account and a free month, but locked out of Praetoria and the incarnate system (lvl 50 content))

I'd still be my grandpa's remote if their old cabinet TV hadn't died... he kept that thing in working order until he couldnt find replacement tubes in the city any more.

Quote:^ mostly this ^5 Star: I have to have known you for a long time in-game or else know you IRL.
4 Star: Someone I enjoy playing with and consider a friend.
3 Star: Someone that I recently met but thought they were fun to play with.
2 Star: I don't use this.
1 Star: Jerk and/or moron.
Although I tend to use 2stars for people who display complete incompetence while they play. I usually accompany it with a note that includes the date and the archtype/powers. I use it as probationary rating, in case I catch someone on an off day, or a new-ish player that doesn't know any better yet, or just someone who isn't too familiar with the AT (I tend not to PUG with my MMs because I have a heck of a time keeping my minions under control, and I wont inflict that on others).
So while people I 1 star are "avoid at all costs", 2 is "hope for the best, prepare for some debt". -
looking at the detailed info;
Code:and combat attributes shows applying it to smash and lethal only.TOUGH Toggle: self +res(smash/lethal) [...] 17.68% resistance to all damage on self unresistable
so - nothings changed, but I can see how one might be misled by the detailed info. -
Quote:Dunno if they're deletable (it is a right click option, but I'm not going to try it. :P ), but you can view them in the salvage window under the "incarnate" tab and the "all" tab.Are shards visible in a window where they can be deleted? They don't appear in the Salvage windows and my recollection of the Incarnate window was that it shows you a count of them but nothing you could right click and delete, but maybe I just haven't tried it yet.
Wish they would re-order those tabs. There's no reason the invention salvage tab (that is probably the most frequently used type of salvage, and contains the stuff you'd actually want to delete separated from what you don't) should have to be arrowed over to while tabs that are no longer in regular use (base and component) get placed right next to "all" (arrowing over based on minimum window width). -
Not 100% positive, but I'm fairly sure I remember hearing that the updater isn't really good at determining current speeds, and that it calculates based of the size of recently completed files, and the time they took to download. This has a major drawback when you get to the Pigg files. especially sound.pigg which weighs in at 589.5mb, a little under a sixth of the entire game.
since that one file is so large, the updater eventually drops the last completed file's completion time as no longer relevant, and then you have no data to calculate speeds and time remaining off of.
Again, not 100% sure on the above, but from downloading the beta client a couple issues ago, the best way to get around the hangup on sound.pigg is just to run the updater overnight. -
Was pretty sure you could download one client (say, NA) copy the folder, change a few file names, and the copied folder would update it's self to the EU client. it would still require some downloading, but not the entire 3.7 gigs...
Or am I imagining this process? -

One thing that should be mentioned about those two TFs that I don't think has been stated in this thread yet; If you don't have something equipped in your alpha slot, you are effectively fighting at lvl 46. That part was mentioned. What wasn't mentioned yet is that all the mobs in those TFs are lvl 54.
Unless you are a bubbler or something that sits back and buffs the team, and nothing else, you would not be an asset to the team. And even then, you're gonna die... a lot. [/lordkat]
I was on one team with 4 un-equipped people on the team, the first section went fine - the 4 of us that were equipped were each probably capable of handling ourselves (the other 4 spend a fair amount of time on their faces)... But as soon as we got to the sewer, it fell apart. -
Quote:Open your powers window - beside "combat attributes" it says "incarnate abilities" click that. in the window that pops up, switch to the "create" tab. expand "alpha" if it isn't already, and look over the trees for the boosts you're interested in.Thanks for the links. So far I have one ancient nictus fragment and 16 shards. I want to put something in my alpha slot of my earth/rad troller. I am thinking that recharge would be my best choice, or accuracy. So then what? I have enough to craft a common nerve or spiritual boost. I still can't see how you actually do it. Pardon me if I am dense, I just don't get it, yet.
the common recharge (spiritual) requires [Gr'ai matter] [ancient nictus fragment] and [essence of the incarnate] (note, Gr'ai matter can be crafted from 150 vanguard merits in the vanguard base tables under "special", if you have the extra, it's probably better than spending shards)
the common accuracy (nerve) requires [dimentional keystone] [ancient nictus fragment] and [essence of the incarnate]
the next tab, "convert" allows you to use the shards. convert them into the required common components, then in the create tab, click the desired common boost and hit create on the side info. then you just have to equip it by clicking on the alpha slot in the equip tab. -
Quote:*shrug* then run the TFs. All of the old task forces that max out at the level cap (iTF, stf, lrsf, lgtf, drkahn, etc) give the option to either receive merits, or a common incarnate component (the specific component depends on the TF). Plus whatever shards drop during the TF.Ah, then it's bound to be even more frustrating since it will rely almost completely on luck-of-the-drop. I foresee myself having to defeat tens of thousands of level 50 enemies to acquire numerous incarnate shards in order to make the items necessary to perform the upgrades. That information makes me better prepared for the frustration.
I crafted a common then uncommon musculature boost after 2 ITFs and 2 LGTFs. Although I imagine, yes, once we start getting the rare and very rare buffs, crafting them will get a little more grindy.
