    Tablet Support?

Regardless how much storage it has
Regardless of how beefy (or not) the CPU is
    Ignoring The GPU entirely.

The iPad2 has 512MB of memory _total_ That's for textures/models/data/code/os the lot. It has less memory than most of our GFX cards. It's unlikely you'd be able to squeeze the basic client/server interaction let alone even basic graphics.

But yeah you could probably render the costume designer accurately with just a single character displayed, with that, chat, in-game email and WW access I'd pay real money for that app.

    On Android
  2. Just to check her I don't think we actually mean "lag" I think we actually mean "Server time dilation" where server ticks take longer that usual. This results in

Movement prediction being off, resulting in mobs appearing to rubber-band.
Client power recharge display being incorrect (powers look like they have recharged when they haven't)
Root times being longer than client animations so you end up stuck after a power animates.

And yes, for me this has been much worse then it was pre-patch, on the BAF's I've been on we were getting severe time dilation even before the escape phase and almost unplayable dilation during the escape phase.
  3. If a game supports it I always bind A and D to strafe and Q and E to rotate so I can still navigate while running if I take my hand off the mouse.

But A and D to rotate? ewwwwww.
  4. My view:

The new incarnate salvage is not connected in any way to the trials in question, you can't get a piece of salvage from performing a task that conceptually matches the salvage (E.G. Nictus Essence from the ITF). Hence the salvage new identities are conceptually bankrupt.

IMHO unless there are trials that actually tie to these identities the salvage there is not good reason to have anything other than (something like):

    Incarnate Thread
    Incarnate Weave (Common)
    Tellurian Swatch (Uncommon)
Whole Cloth of All Things (Rare)
    Paradigmatic Tapestry (V Rare)

And then we shape those directly into the things we want.
  5. First thing I do when I start a new character is rebind Tab to "Target nearest"

    Crashing daily

    Same here, Symptoms include:

    1. Screen "flashing" when I open up a UI element
    2. locks up if I screenshot after flashing starts
    3. Eventually locks up (not option to send crash log) usually on next zoning
    4. Happens much quicker if in Praetoria and/or have ultra-shadows and/or ambient occlusion on (and I'm running a GTX460 so it should be fine)
    5. I also very occasionally get the "corrupt XXX" message (and forcing a verify find/fixes nothing)
I don't see anything out of place in the event viewer

Have had this since GR beta, posted, /bugged it, even made youtube videos and posed link to it

And by the way, I can't reiterate how much I disagree. Glowy-hunts are already annoying enough with relatively linear maps, now imagine them in a more open/random design. (And most of the objectives would face similar issues)
    Yeah, sorry about the typo.

Just because current glowie hunts are annoying doesn't mean that they would become more annoying just less boring. What if it was reasonable to expect that computers would be in a computer room, or a safe in a vault rather than just in a hallway somewhere.

What if glowie hunts were prefaced by "interrogate 10 XXX to discover location of YYY" and after that the glowie was marked on the map for example?
  8. Amen brother.

The maps in this game drive me _crazy_ what I wouldn't give for sane architecture where:

    1. You didn't need to walk through someone's work area to get to a lift.
    2. The floors actually conformed to the shape of the building
    3. The floors conformed to the shape of each other.
    4. Mission objective are placed in sane locations (ah yes the safe is in the middle of a lobby/The secret computer in on a desk in the hallway)
    5. A wider selection of glowies/destroyables so they can more accurately match the mission objective
    6. Clipping boxes on objects are smoothed to prevent getting stuck on plants or tables
    7. NPC's doing location appropriate emotes (we got a _little_ of that with the first paper missions)
    8. Mayhem style random destroyables (that don't appear on tab targeting)
    9. Dynamic colouring of key element (walls etc) provides tremendous variation for (comparably) minimal work

As truly awful as most of the instanced maps are the things that surprises me most is that the are not actually random, they were individually designed (from prefabs), they possess all the negative points of random layout (does not match supposed use, repeating blocks) without any of the benefits (keeping players on their toes, freshness of challenge)

Personally I think the reason we don't get new tilesets (I only really count the troll/rikti/cimeorran caves and the Praetorian labs, the rest are so similar to existing assets or just so small) is because the devs know with their current build tools they would still need to manually generate a load of maps using those prefabs. A directed-random map generator with an extended tileset would do _so_ much for the game.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, Paragon _need_ to invest in their build tools. With all of the assets they have available it should take a day to knock up 5 new mansion-style maps (re-using offices and the midnighter building)

If they updated the build tools they could hold a competition to let players build maps for the game, hell just update the demorecord format we'd do it in text files if needed. Get us to do the work.
  9. How many people knew that the subject line was about? In case it isn't as obvious as I'd hoped, I'm talking about the sound FX for Ion Judgement.

I mean this is (quite literally) a god-like AOE, that can wipe out multiple 8-man spawns, it requires considerable investment to get up to the higher levels...

    And it goes "Poit!"?

We have a number of passable thunder and lightening crack sounds, and there are many more out there. Why does the "daddy" of all electric attack make the most comical and weedy of sounds?
  10. Hmm, so breaking own that rare I got from my only successful BAF was probably a mistake then.

Wish I'd known I was unlikely to get another.
  11. I would like to see Incarnate tip mission that drop from incarnate content (trials or within the missions) I'd like to see them drop threads and maybe offer one of the new merits on completion of an arc (Maybe in place of a H/V merit)

    Missions like:
"Black Scorpion has taken down Sister Psyche and Manticore please rescue them from Grandville"
"Valkyrie has been defeated by Sirocco, and he has taken Excalibur please recover it"
"Neutron Bombs are about to scourge Alaska of life, please save them"

The sort of things that would usually end a TF or arc with. Incarnates should be able to do those as missions. and it would give a passable method of solo progress
  12. Server you were playing on: Guardian
    Size of League/Team:
Pre-made league of 3 full teams
Trial you were participating in: Lambda
    Time of Day/Date/Timezone
    06/04/11 About 10pm UK time
Did you join as a preformed group or did you utilize the Team Up Teleporter
    Preformed.

We started the trial, got kicked after about 10 seconds. Re-formed and tried again, this time we didn't even succeed in zoning into the trial and went from pocket-d -> zoning screen -> pocket-d. After that I suggested that everyone go to their "lfg" tab and click "abandon" if they had the option to. After that we re-formed and played through as we would have expected.

Looks like some instances are going bad.

Simple really, Trials can be failed, TF's never fail unless you abandon them.
The devs want the incarnate content to be failable hence it's a trial.

You get rewards comparable to your level of success. iXP is just like XP, you learn something even when you fail. This all looks about right to me.

I lothe TFs but I don't have a problem with what we have so far (other than the bugs and wanting a bit more variety)
  14. Server side lag can be seen as: power recharge indicators not updating correctly, power activation delay, rubberbanding, mobs insta-teleporting from place to place
Network lag can be seen as: rubberbanding, mobs insta-teleporting from place to place, power activation delay/failure
GFX lag can be seen as: Frame rate below your monitor refresh rate
  15. Perception is a tricky thing, after a respec a single power that is slotted for slightly less endredux can hugely impact the perceived end recovery for a player. That is why the real numbers feature was added.

I don't think that Sailboat was being snarky but the forums see a _lot_ of people who believe that "stat X" has changed between issues and almost without fail they are accompanied with the claim that "many others outside the forum are having the same problem" hence why the default reaction is to ask for screenshots of real numbers and suggest that the poster re-checks.

With some more concrete information we can probably help find out what's going on and even make a detailed bug report if one is warranted.

    Sucker Punch

Other than the squeamish and those who really dislike over-the-top visual sequences I have no idea why people dislike Sucker Punch, I thought it was fantastic.

This is a woman suffering through the some of the most horrific things a human can go through. Loss of family, betrayal by family, betrayal by "The System", Sexual abuse, condemned to near-brain-death. Things so horrible that even the imaginary world she escapes to is unsafe and tainted by horrors. The "Dance" (which seem to represent the most horrific happening in the real world, most likely each one is an act of ****, pushing her even deeper into her fantasy) fades into the most cartoonish acts of ultra-violence, visually designed to lambaste us for our enjoyment (much like "Natural Born Killers" did)

Watching the "brothel" scenes for clues as to what was happening in the real world makes each set a puzzle as corridors and rooms blend the imaginary theatre with the reality of the asylum.

It wasn't oscar material, but I thought the plot, characterisation, pathos and sets were beautifully woven together.
  17. Hire myself to improve the tools the content devs use to produce content.

  19. 1. Produce a Blender plugin for COH models with rig and hold costume piece design contests
    2. Power/Weapon customisation across all powers including temp/inherent
    3. Improved Pet/NPC AI (Ability to order "stand and fire")

    Sorry I can't stop there

    4. Randomized maps for tip/paper missions (and a map builder that is SANE)
    5. Random destructible items in all maps (for variety and ambiance)
    6. SANE positioning/shape of glowies across all missions

    Ok I can stop there
  20. Slot normalisation.

There are many slots that are tied to the same parent "bone"

E.G. most of the head options. In a demo record you can fit any of the head elements in any of the slots So you can have a monocle and earmuffs at the same time for example. I think there should be head 1/2/3/4 and _all_ of the options should be available for any of those slots (because the engine can handle it just fine)

Also things like the spiked collar should additionally be in with the "reaper" face mask as they attach to the same bones

Asymetric arms/legs (Yes I know that would be a lot of work)

Re-work the awful female necks and their tiny toy hands

Separate out the fingers (No I don't need them animated separately, but they look terrible as mittens)
  21. "Clarion Core Epiphany" is Perma, the others aren't and global recharge doesn't help.

Also there are no limits on what can be discussed right now this is open beta as far as the forums go.
  22. Slight necropost but I think the is still worth chatting about.

    Judgement:
While it looks like Pyronic Judgement is going to be head an shoulders above the other Judgement slots I'm a sucker for theme so I'll be working my way up to "Void Core Final Judgement", No need for KB, -Dam is no use if they're dead and by the time I'm in place for a nuke I'm already eclipsed.

    Lore:
Less said about that the better, I'm going to skip the whole thing until we can get non-praetorian pets. But by the dark gods I'd go for a couple of extra fluffy-style pets (NOTE TO DEVS, fluffy Lore pets require no new animations or GFX work. They are also pretty generic so everyone with dark powers could justify them thematically, PB Photon seeker graphics would be a great flipside)

    Interface:
Well theme says Gravitic, but we have plenty of -rech and -spd anyway I think it would be wasted. It looks like Reactive will be popular and more damage is always good, extra fire damage harkens to the early days of Requiem's powers being described as "dark fire" so I'll probable aim for "Reactive Total Radial Conversion" and not go past that unless I have _loads_ of free time. though I might also build up a "Diamagnetic Total Radial Conversion" for AVs

    Destiny:
I don't think I can resist "Clarion Core Epiphany" self-buffed mez protection is just too much to pass up, but after that I might go for "Barrier Core Epiphany" for TF's

Yea Gods I'm going to be running a lot of TF's... but If I go for Void Judgement first then Clarion, Then the level shift from Destiny... nope, its just going to be a lot of TFs
  23. I have to say I was having a hard time with my 'shade until I got Eclipse, I spent a lot of time hugging an Emp.

Then I got eclipse, and things were better,
Then I slotted eclipse, I blinked and I was 50,
I blinked again and I had 5 LotGs slotted,
It might take more than one blink to go from my current 2 rare spirituals to a very rare, but Oh its fun on the way

    It was just that awesome.
  24. Yeah not a word on the Lore slot, not even "We had very specific ideas about this slot to to backstory contraints that have yet to be revealed"
  25. I agree mostly.

Lambda sector does feel like a small step toward making Primal earth safe. You could take every bit of "incarnate" out of it and it would make a great lv50 co-op T/SF but there is nothing there that feels in any way "god-like"

The BAF is even worse, this should be lv40 content max, an a great story for returning Praetorians.

Both are mechanically ok, in fact they're pretty good, but they are massively off-message as far as "incarnate" content goes IMHO.

Hell I'd be happier if there was a "buffed by an incarnate" visual aura at least then there would be _some_ visual difference between lv 1-10 and the lv54 clockwork rather than some kind of "we paint them the same colour but the civilian clockwork are made out of Paper-Mache and fit them with flashlights rather than lasers".

Actually can we just keep the clockwork out of the incarnate content, why can't there be warworks-looking dedicated menders (A BCU without the gun)
