Tab Target Failz?

So could anybody explain to me how Tab Targeting works? Im really sick of targeting things in the other room behind 3 walls when there are like 15 enemies in front of me.

Based on personal observation over the years, it seems to order all visible enemies according to the time they entered the screen. Pressing Tab cycles down that ordered list from first to last.

Well then how do i go from being in battle with 15 enemies,to (As i stated),targeting an enemy behind 3 walls in another room we haven't event gotten to yet? They haven't technically been 'On screen' at all.

Quite often the game will "draw" enemies before it finishes drawing the intervening walls and other objects.

Last I heard was that "It takes the nearest enemy to you" and goes on from there, but obviously thats wrong,or was right and got changed over the years. "The Unspeakable" does the same thing.

Try using LCrtl+tab(target nearest) & LShift+tab(target furthest)

I mapped the tilde key (squiggly line) for target nearest. I then Tab my way through the rest of the targets with Tab. Works out easiest for me.

It used to select the nearest enemy for me, but lately after Issue 20, it's been starting with the furthest. I'd say it's bugged.

Aye. Noticed it quite badly malfunctioning in Lambda.

I have my L key bound to /target_enemy_near and while leaping to attack the next wall gun it grabs one completely across the courtyard.

During BAF, I hit L, and even while NOT confused, I can't get a target lock on enemies right in front of me.

What with the already horrific lag, it's becoming absolutely infuriating do do anything on a team larger than 8.

I love when Tab selects something behind me.

I love it even more when clicking selects something behind me. Or, for that matter, when clicking while holding down a movement key acts like my cursor is a couple hundred pixels away from where it is.

I also have a key bound to Target Nearest and one for Target Farthest (to make the most of Cone Powers).

I have Tabbed targets that were about to ambush me behind a door (a bug/feature that I like) but otherwise yeah...not working as I'd like.

Now second question: Lambda sector giant cannon is the *only* enemy on my screen, and neither TAB or ctrl-TAB will target it: I must click on it to select it. Why?

It's equipped with Tab Cloak. The version in Neutropolis proper actually has a full-fledged Target Cloak. (-:

This the method I use to make tab targetting in CoX awesome:

I have my 't' key mapped like this:

/bind t "unselect$$toggle_enemy"

Tapping 't' then targets the closest enemy in front of me. Using the Tab key after that targets enemies one after the other outward. Any time I want to start back at the closest enemy again I just tap the 't' key.

First thing I do when I start a new character is rebind Tab to "Target nearest"
