Okay, so my third video card advice asking post since I started, and I'm sure I will keep getting great advice!
Got a new computer, and HP p6630f, haven't kept up with the new Nvidia nomenclature since my 9800GTX was purchased a few years ago. I am looking to keep it under $200. Thanks, I'll keep peeking in and thanking people. -
I think that's where he is, the guy shooting the shotgun at the entrance of the giant thingee where Kalinda is in CoV. That noise is so irritating and completely unnecessary. That is all.
Oh and add a separate entrance and exit portal to the Ouroboros zone. Having people porting in and out of the zone, hanging out on the portal while they bio, bringing 3 trillion pets and standing on the portal, etc. etc., it's beyond irritating. Door in. Door out. Two different places.
And the various different menu things we can open and move, like the map, nav bar, etc. Make them so we can attach them to anything else, like map can stack on Inspiration tray, which can stack on pet menu, or whatever combination we can make. So they attach to each other like Lego's no matter what menu it is or where we move it.
That is really all. -
Quote:Hey everyone,
We wanted to take a moment to address issues that have come up regarding the latest patch that has been released. We certainly understand a lot of your concerns and we want to do our best to alleviate them.
The change that has been implemented is a temporary change to combat a long standing exploit. This was a stopgap fix that we had to put out until we could come up with a more permanent solution. We certainly do not want to leave your arcs in a state where using them in non-exploitive ways results in little to no experience being gained.
Myself, pohsyb, Television, War Witch, along with everyone else here involved in the operations of Mission Architect, are doing everything we can to arrive at a solution that we can all agree on.
We currently plan to implement a solution in issue 17 or soon thereafter (and I mean actual soon and not Soon™) . We can't go into detail about what exactly is planned, but it will alleviate the current issue that many of you are having, which is finding your normal arcs are rewarding little experience.
Anyone who has a normal story arc that is drastically affected by this change should not go about overhauling your work. We are going to make sure that this upcoming fix will stop exploitive behavior within Architect while also allowing you all to be as creative as you want within the system - without extremely negative consequences.
Dr. Aeon
Why wasn't this information included in the original announcement? -
1. Wherever there is an WW's, there is a University.
2. With the addition of AE, and with Arena's, is there really any reason contacts can't give the full slate of Inspirations from the get go?
3. On that note, is there really any reason contacts can't give Insp's when on TF's, given WW's and Arena's?
4. DO and SO enhancements should have a little pop up description (or a description in parenthesis) of what type it is (Run Speed, Jump, etc.) when you mouse over them. I know this one has been addressed (look for the color, I believe was the answer from way back), but it drives me insane that after years of playing, I still can't tell what enhancements enhance what attribute.
5. Clear indication of when you've crafted enough recipes that you've memorized them and no longer have to purchase them to craft an IO. Like a pop up in orange and a note that says, "You've memorized level 40 Damage recipes and no longer need to purchase them!"
6. Gordon Brewer is the stingiest contact ever with his cell phone number. And giving out the full range of Inspirations (I think, this one may not be true, but for some reason I think it is, so I'm adding it to the list).
7. Don't know if this one is possible, but is map scaling for small teams/soloing possible? Like, scale down the maps when the team is small or running a mission solo so I don't spend the majority of my time in missions traveling through empty space. This one is especially annoying on Council maps and large outdoor maps. Maybe tie it into the number of heroes/villains I am equivalent to as well. Less bad guys, smaller map.
8. Make the combining Enhancements faster. Maybe drag and drop and combine on the main "manage Enhancements" screen. I usually stick with DO's and SO's until 35, when buying IO's makes financial sense and the bonuses are better. Having to combine, one at a time, each ENH drives me nuts and takes forEVER and a day.
Thanks. -
Thanks in advance:

Quote:Single target Scrapper, its hard to go wrong with Dark Melee.I am part of a regular group of 5 players, meeting weekly for a little CoH action.
We've run a number of fun teams, but we thought we'd try something different.
That's why our newest team is going to consist of a pair of Mind Controllers, and then a trio of damage dealers to back them up (or maybe it's better to think of that the other way round).
My first instinct is scrappers, of course, but I'm more inclined towards high single person damage, in order to get the most out of the mind controllers sleeps. I think you can see where I'm going with this.
So, I'm opening the floor for suggestions. Who do you think teams best with Mind Controllers? What defensive secondaries pair well with all that highly active Mind control? What Primary and secondary sets would you recommend for the scrappers? Should we include a blaster? Tactics? Anecdotes about your own experience? Likely snags? Problems? What do you think?
What kinda secondaries you looking at?
With a lot of DEF buffers, can't go wrong with /SR or /WP.
With a lot of RES buffers, /WP, /DA, /INV, /FA would be gravy.
With DeBuffers, I'd look more towards /WP or /INV...
I'd take one meat shield Scrapper and one AoE blaster. -
Quote:What kind of toon is your friend playing?Im thinking of rolling a controller to play with my friends who just got into the game but i cant decide which one of these to roll.
Ive had experience with illusion, but any advice on how plant plays would help out a lot.
i know Illusion probably does more damage due to PA but i would also like to know what are some pros and cons of plant control
Any advice would help................Thank You Forum Gurus -

Well I'm quite biased, as my Cold/ Defender was one of my absolute characters to play.
But for starters, it has 4 buffs to teammates, all of which are pretty effective. 2 +defense shields which grant defense equal to or nearly equal to FF's 2 shields. It also has a +HP Buff that increases a target ally's HP substantially. It's last buff is Arctic Fog, which is pretty much your usual PBAoE toggle +stealth power.
For debuffs, you get Infrigerate, Benumb, Heat Loss, Snow Storm, and Sleet. I assume you know what Snow Storm is, a target foe toggle that debuffs their speed and recharge and keeps them from flying. Infrigerate debuffs the target's speed, recharge, defense, and Fire damage. Benumb has a massive -regen debuff, a -damage debuff (all), and a debuff that makes the target's secondary abilities less effective (including heals). Heat Loss is similar to Fulcrum Shift, except it debuffs the damage resistance of the target (and all enemies near the target), while also sapping some endurance and giving endurance as well as a +recovery bonus to all allies near the target and near you. Beautiful power, really. I believe it also slows them. And lastly, you have Sleet which has massive -resistance and -defense debuffs as well as slow and some knockdown.
With Cold, you get ally +End, +Recovery, +Defense, +HP, and some small resistance to cold, energy, fire, and toxic. You get foe debuffs to -Regen, -Resistance, -Defense, -Speed, -Recharge, -End, and -Damage. It's very easy to get an enemy to the slow cap.
It's an absolutely beautiful set when used correctly and can be a major asset on Task Forces or any content, for that matter.

What is scary is how few people know that Cold is a Defender primary, or how good it is.
I was on a pug recently and after I hit everyone with ice shields, one person said, "Hey, I didn't even know they had that for Defenders!"
I also love putting ice shields on various NPC's, because it is fun... -

You know those emails you get about Nigerian royalty driven from the country and needing your help to transfer millions? Can you guess why those emails keep getting sent? Yes, there really are people out there who are that stupid. Every so often, one of them ends up in the news.
The kind of mentality that would buy an account off EBay is the same sort of person who would go to an RMT site.

I think that the funniest part is that the Nigerian scam pre-dates e-mail, and was actually accomplished with pen and paper back in the day. -
I've been playing around with Deceive to see what types of little battles I can instigate, and how enemy factions attack each other.
I thought I'd cobble together some fun in game results of Deceive.
Some highlights so far:
In Croatoa, against Witches, the Lt.'s and Bosses (I think both, have to relog and try) spawn Thunderstorms. Once I confuse the Witch, the Thunderstorm turns on them and attacks them with lighting bolts.
Against Tsoo Sorcerers, when there is a pair of Deceived Sorcerers and their health gets low, they will begin chain healing each other, blocking Deceives power. But they keep going, as if they are protecting each other.
Anyways, as I have been messing around with Deceive, I thought I'd ask, what are some of the best effects you've seen so far? -

It would help if you would post the data link on your build so we could pull it up in Mids ourselves.
-
Consider taking Fire Blast. Not only does it give you a great attack chain in Blind-SW-Blast-SW, but it also gives you another place for a Decimation set. Fallout is extremely situational and very skippable. But if you are going to take it, you need to slot it up more. (I have it on my Earth/Rad who mainly does TFs, mainly just so I can say I have it and use it -- but if you want to see why I think it is extremely situational, take a look at my Earth/Rad guide. An Ill/Rad has other powers that will provide more benefit.)
-
Accelerate Metabolism: Try the Efficiency Adapter set. The full set gives another 5%, but unless you have enough global recharge, you may lose out on its own recharge. If so, replace the EndMod/Acc with a Recharge. You lose out on the recharge bonus, but the other bonuses are good, too.
-
No Deceive? It is very, very powerful. Plus, the Confuse purple set is one of the most affordable. 5 of them gives you 10% Recharge. Plus, the Contagious Confusion Proc turns the single target Deceive into Mass Confusion 1/3 of the time. Best proc for an Ill/Rad! I take Deceive on all of my Illusionists at level 4.
-
And a personal pet peeve -- why do folks take Swift/Hurdle at level 6? There are so many better powers that will actually help you survive and complete missions at that level. Take RI at 6, or even Air Superiority would be better there. Hasten can wait until 22, Mutation is skippable and could be put off until 49 or forever. I prefer Superior Invis at 8 so it can help you run around in safety early.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry about the data link thing, but I've never been able to get those to work properly, so I didn't include one. However, I will add the data chunk at the end of this reply.
Let me reiterate that this build is intended for an ill/rad on the road to 50, not post 50, so the power and recipe choices are based on the most value to a team at the level range those powers become available while also benefiting the player in solo situations.
Now, I did consider taking Fire Blast over Fallout, but didn't have enough slots to dedicate to it, thus Fallout was chosen simply as a mitigation tool when a battle goes horribly wrong. I'm aware that Fallout is also under-slottted, but at least it has enough to be somewhat effective. I could probably take a selfish approach and replace it with Hover to drop in a LotG +rech, but as I said before, having 20 mil to spend on a single recipe isn't likely to happen any time durring an average hero's career... although merits are always an option, I suppose.
I also considered putting the Efficiency Adapter set into Accelerate Metabolism, but even though the bonuses are attractive, I was more concerned about the actual performance of the power. With only 60% global recharge (or 65% with Efficiency Adapter), I didn't think that would be enough to get the most out of AM.
Agreed that Deceive is indeed a powerful option (personally, I love the power) and is probably a better choice than Mutation. But, when you're the only psudo-healer on a team, getting others back into the thick of battle kind of outweighs the novelty of watching 2 to 4 enemies going at each other. Not to mention that the Contagious Confusion set isn't even slottable (is that even a word?) until level 47.
As far as taking Swift at level 6 goes, I look at it as a prerequisite for keeping pace with the team while on a mission map. The same philosophy applies to Hasten as it gets AM up faster and lessens the recharge of RI downtime. Also, do you really need SI at level 8? Sure, it's nice to have, but the truly nasty enemies start showing up around level 30 (Devouring Earth, Crey, Nemesis, ect.), where SI becomes more useful than just a luxury, right?
And now for the data chunk:

You have to copy everything, from the vertical line next to copy to the last line with the vertical lines and horizontal dashes.
Then you can use it with Mids. -
Fire/Kin notafarmer is actually exactly what my search comment used to be.
Now its "built for teaming."
Either way, I take great pride in being one of the few to break the "why won't he speed boost anyone on the team" mold. -

Earth/storm/stone. It makes you truly feel like a GOD of natural disasters! Very damaging and powerful once you hit the 30s. Plus it has more than enough control for any team. I will say that mine has made soloing seem trivial unless I'm soloing a spawn set for at least 3-4 people. It may not be my most powerful character, but it feels more powerful than any other. very fun.

make sure you get superspeed pool so you can nab whirlwind. I've not found it to be as windly functional/ useful, however... it SO fits!

It's kind of silly to argue against flexibility. If I want to see 62 health bars, I should be able to! I really don't, but sheesh, there's nothing wrong in certain circumstances to toss a heal to keep a player OR A PET up. After all, the game allows heals/forcefields/buffs to work on pets.

Yeah, but is that all you want to see?
Seriously, though, you should be able to search through and find some good binds, or ask when you are playing or on the forums. -

Or you could do what I've done, not take Stamina on any character in many long years of playing! *gasp*
Just bought it on one of my toons yesterday and only because there were no other thematically suitable powers available to choose. So, depending on your playstyle, PvP'er vs PvE, solo or team, Archetype etc, I'm only commenting to point out that it's not the essential that I've heard so many people claim.
I'm just sayin'...

There seem to be more and more vets banding together and doing *GASP* real missions!
In zones!
I don't know if I have been lucky or if my patience is finally paying off, but for the last 4 nights or so, I have been getting on better and better full teams, most filled with vets who have been playing for at least a year.
Keep it up guys, it has been awesome teaming with so many seasoned vets! -
Are you stuck with wanting 2 controllers?
A good meat shield is always nice, paired with a Fire/Kin or Fire/Rad.
A Scrapper with AoE's, like a Spines/ would be a great combo for either the Fire/Kin or Fire/Rad.
Or a Fire/Fire Tank.
Two Fire/Kins would be fun and powerful, but having leveled one to 50, I'd suggest a Controller/Scrapper or /Tanker combo. There are a lot of holes in Fire/Kin that a meat shield would cover. -
I think the best advice I read is to give it to an alt. that has End. issues.
-
I let my 6 year old pick the winners of the only CC I've ever held, the other night on Freedom to celebrate my first Kheld. to 50.
So if it sometimes appears totally random (which someone commented it had), it may not be.
Your judge could be a 6 year old with 2+ years playing CoH.
P.S.- if the 4th place winner still wants his 10 million Infl., look me up. You ran off before I could pay you. -
Make MA Disorient, and add MA weapons, and chops and punches.
