Bane Spider Executioner HITS you! Mace Beam Blast power had a 6.50% chance to hit and rolled a 6.27.
Bane Spider Executioner HITS you! Bash power had a 6.82% chance to hit and rolled a 0.92.
Bane Spider Executioner MISSES! Clobber power had a 6.82% chance to hit, but rolled a 43.23.
Bane Spider Scout HITS you! Bash power had a 6.04% chance to hit and rolled a 0.38.
This just happened to my NW, through elude and mindlink. I was running around 100% def to everything. Accursed RNG!! Went from kicking butt to eating pavement in about 1 second. -
I can't remember.
-
My fire/wp only has about 26% defense to everything, and solos most AVs with little difficulty. I focused on hp first, then defense, and it works just fine most of the time - he just regens crazy fast, and has so much hp that all but the hardest hits don't make much of a dent. Just pointing out that there are other ways of doing it, though I would like to get more defense in there.

I have a softcapped dm/shield scrapper on whom I kept shadow maul, and use it all the time. It's crummy single target dps, especially vs AV's, but used right, it's an excellent AoE. I 6-slotted it with eradication. You loose a little damage, but the set bonuses are awesome. I have no purples in my build - they're just too expensive, and therefore I only have 35% global recharge and then hasten as well, but I have little difficulty soloing most AVs (curse you, Malaise!!), especially if I drag a bunch of minions to the fight to help fuel AAO. I cycle smite, MG, shadow punch, and SL and it gets the job done. Maybe not as fast as an optimized chain might, but I don't really care.
I went tough/weave and I run tough all the time. Even soft-capped, you get hit quite a bit, and it's nice when that one hit doesn't suddenly put you in the red.
I frankenslotted siphon life with 3 parts Touch of the Nictus, 3 parts Pounding Slugfest. That gives me 90% heal, about 60% damage, some ranged def IO bonus, and 9% accuracy bonus. Again, the damage on the attack is a bit lacking, but it doesn't seem to matter.
For a primary with a lot of AoE, you could skip shield charge, I suppose, though it's freakin' cool, but on dm, you'll have next to no AoE if you skip it, and that makes you junk on teams. -
Wow. That's really a great change. I love my electric armor brute, but he's one of my few melee toons who can routinely faceplant moments after starting a fight, due to no def whatsoever to help safely use aid self. Now maybe I can ditch aid self, which I truly loathe.

A force field scrapper? Uh, am I missing something here? Unless it's something being ported and I just don't about it, there's no such thing.
On DA, though, its resists are all fairly low, but you get a HUGE heal that generally makes up for it, and a few interesting crowd control toggles to prevent incoming damage. Energy damage isn't all that big of a deal - just know your enemy and smash them first. With extensive IO slotting, you can get your def pretty high as well.
Yeah, DA is toggle heavy, but most of the toggles will be fire and forget once you log in, or have to rez. Your biggest problem will be endurance, and knockback. DA tends to be a pretty active secondary - lots of strategic clicking and reacting to stuff, vs, say, SR, which you toggle on and then never mess with again. If you want an active secondary, DA can be a lot of fun.
Oh, and fire melee/DA looks badass, too. -
The sad truth is that for 75% or more of game content, a good scrapper can do the same job as a tank, but with a lot more whoopass. Sorry tanks, but it's true. You got a tank with an easily bruised ego, and inadequate maturity to handle it correctly. It sounds like he was PL'd to whatever level he was and hadn't actually learned his tank's limits. NOt that that's a huge crime - I attempted (and failed) to PL a stone tank to 32 over double xp weekend. That being said, you probably should have let him tank Rom, since that was all he wanted, and he said as much (though missing his message certainly makes that trickier...). Then, when he managed to get faceplanted despite being in granite, you could've stepped in and saved the team.

I haven't looked real hard, but the only place I've been able to consistently find Overseers is around the Death Star thing in the Chantry. They hang out at the tunnel entrances to the teleporters. Is there anywhere where they would be more numerous?
-
Yeah, it's borked. And it's just YOUR post. You should get a prize for screwing something up in ways never before screwed up.

I always just use the safeguard travel powers, usually until lvl 24 or so. They last that long almost every time. Yeah, they feel cheap, but a true travel power isn't really neccesary for your build (unless you're a real concept slave) until later, and there's so much cooler suff to grab in those early levels.
On Against all Odds- I took it at 16, but I was soloing a lot, so everything was focused on me anyway. There were times when I was teamed and it got me killed, repeatedly, due to drawn aggro, but them's the breaks. It will depend on the rest of the team.
I took shadow punch early on, becaue I don't like choppy attack chains, and vet attacks aren't very reliable, but I'm 39 now and still use it all the time. Except for smite, dm's other attacks aren't all that fast, so I wanted a quick one to finish off the ineveitable sliver-o-life-left minions and stuff. It will probably stay in the build, as I don't have really high recharge as a prioroty.
I was surprised at how easy the combo was on the blue bar, but still, stamina at 20 made everything so much easier. And I love the prereqs - swift or hurdle - and would probably damage my keyboard trying to move quickly unless I had them.
I have ONE flexible power pick in my build. I'd love touch of fear, but it will probably end up being hasten (boring and too glowy) or maneuvers (which is likely to screw up my recovery). Work in progress. -
Soul drain needs to hit to work. Gaussian's isn't boosting it's accuracy at all, and 9% global accuracy won't cut it.

If slotted in health, will the proc effect carry over into the forms, even if the benefits of health itself do not?
-
Not too long ago I created a mind/rad controller, and advertised myself as a 50 fire/kin in a blatant attempt to [censored] with the Atlas farmers. Not only did I get onto an AE farm, but I also advanced to level 16 doing so. Dumb runs both ways.

Recipe information not popping up on 'mouseover.'
1. Open Wentworth's/Black Market screen.
2. Place multiple recipes in your auction house slots.
3. Mouse over 'stored' recipes.
Results: Only the last recipe placed in the auction house will show 'mouseover' text. It does not matter if any other items are currently stored in the auction house, or their order.

This is such an amazingly annoying bug. I never really appreciated how important that feature is, until now that it is not working.
[/ QUOTE ]
Annoying yes, but you can still right-click 'Info' to get the salvage recipe information.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which can mistakenly cause someone to delete a recipe, like I almost did last night...
[/ QUOTE ]
Likewise. This little bug makes using the Market very, very cumbersome. -
With the new 20 second rcharge, that thing's up a lot, and therefore sucks down a lot of end. Obliteration looks like a nice set, but the endred from it is pretty crappy. Anyone have any slotting schemes they're happy with? I don't want to spend all the time/inf collecting the set to find the end costs are too high.

The real problem with Cold is the graphical effects, same with Cold Armour. I can't even begin to imagine the pain of spending my entire exsistance with 7 snowmen.
[/ QUOTE ]
Its awesome. Its like having your own frosty the ice golem army.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unless you're the defender creating the golems, the graphical effects get really annoying. That's my point of view, but I suspect it's shared by others. I don't go through all the effort in the costume generator so the results can be obliterated by someone's overbearing ice shields. And it gets difficult to keep track of who's who on the team when they all look the same.
Don't get me wrong, I love the defense the shields give, but the fx suck. -
Fire/kins are late bloomers. 32 is the first big jump with imps, 35 for tranference so you're not gasping for breath all the time, and FS at 38 makes fire/kins one of the most powerful AT's in the game. Personally, it's one of my favorite characters, but you'll be very busy.
-
I just want GFS's animation and sound fx changed. It looks really clumsy and sounds ridiculous.
-
No, IW is not currently usable as a break free. Wish it was, because the mezzes always seem to hit after IW drops.
I've gone through all the APPs on my ill/rad except for earth. My ill/rad's feet never touch the ground, so most of earth's powers won't work or were just plain wrong for his background.
Fire offered nice damage, but I didn't need consume - end was generally under control. Fireball still looked pretty wimpy compared to what a blaster could do.
Energy Torrent from Primal was even more annoying kb - something I could live without. And power boost proved to be generally useless because nothing lives long enough at that level that a 60 second hold is ever useful. This proved true even on the STF.
I don't have perma PA, but it's fairly close, so I didn't have many mezzes directed my way, or even attacks for that matter, so IW from Psionic wasn't too useful. Psi Tornado is cool but activates kinda slow and is too pink for my controller.
So I finally settled on ice. The blast does good enough damage and isn't psionic and hibernate is my panic button for when things do get out of hand (and then I can resummon PA immediately on exiting). I went with ice storm because its long recharge syncs decently with flash's long recharge, which is my only AoE containment. Frost breath wasn't an option at the time I settled on ice, iirc.
Those are just my experiences and observations, but it's something to go on. -
Even if it did work on imps, the dead one is always the dumbest of the three, who wandered off and tried to solo something, and is therefore out of range or LoS.

Fire/kins do some massive damage and are really unappreciated.
[/ QUOTE ]
This must explain why about 30% of all controllers are fire/kins. -
By the high levels, if people can't manage their end, screw 'em. Most high level teams steamroll stuff even if you're sleeping on your keyboard. I generally only SB people if their end is obviously flagging and it's slowing down the team. ID is such a pathetic duration I reserve it for unmezzing people that bother to mention they're mezzed, or on tanks that can't cut the mustard. You might surmise that I don't play buffers that often.

SIDE NOTE: Has anyone else noticed an increase in the number of new Khelds running around? I don't know what's up but I'm lovin' it
[/ QUOTE ]
It probably has a lot to do with all the new 50s from the good ol' comm officer farm days. Let's hope they don't play as poorly as the farmed 50's do.
On that note, I prefer WS's, mostly because they're a bit more dynamic and don't have end issues after 22. -
I'd reccomend skipping dimension shift as well. While there are rare occaisons when it's an ok panic button, most of the time it just irritates team members and wastes time. Yes, I'm speaking from the point of view of someone who has repeatedly wasted attacks on intangible foes.
I use siphon power all the time on my 50 fire/kin. It's nice to have vs AV's when they're the only thing left standing. And normal missions it isn't always possible to cap your targets with FS. I don't use it on farms too often, but face it, farms get [censored] boring. -
I assume this has been asked many times before, but I gave up searching for the answer. How the heck do you get/use powers gained from day job accolades? I supposedly have a frag grenade somewhere on my person, but I'll be damned if I can find it.
