  1. I don't really have much of a problem with people leaving teams. It can be mildly irritating having to find new members, but that is my gripe on the circumstance, not on the pervious player.

The thing that truly bothers me is when I have a few teammates that lag behind the group and don't help whatsoever...The ones who, when you look at the minimap, are the lone triangle in the hallway that was cleared about 3 minutse ago. Those guys get on my nerves, especially when I'm not the team leader.

if you trigger it while it's still up, it just extends the duration.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Untrue, it just resets the duration back to 2 min.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That isn't untrue...If it is already up, the current duration is less than two minutes. Resetting it back to two minutes, unless my math is way off, will 100% of the time extend the duration since two is greater than less than two.
  3. I have a DM/WP brute, and the sets shine together. Willpower provides the passive resists/defense/regen to get you going, and DM gives you a nice little heal for those earlier levels where you don't feel particularly strong.

Also, don't forget that Negative Energy is rarely resisted, so the attacks feel quick and powerful! All in all, I approve of any DM/WP scrappers!
  4. I can answer a few of your questions and add some anecdotal evidence:

First of all, RttC caps at 10 enemies. It still is quite noticeable with only a couple. In reference to Scientist 16's post, I have a Claws/WP scrapper at 43, and I currently run the following with only slight endurance issues (Mainly because I don't have very many sets yet, only 2 atm and no Numina or Miracle):

    Mind Over Body
    Indomitable Will
    Rise to the Challenge
    Heightened Senses
    Maneuvers
    Tactics
    Assault
    Hover

In terms of survivability, you'll notice less "rubber-banding". You have higher defense and resistance, but lower regen. As such, you'll take less damage, but you'll also regen it at a slightly slower pace. The only problem that I find with Willpower is that it does not have a clickable "Oh S**t button" or a click heal. The final power is more of a "This looks like a huge group, I better preemptively use it" power.

To make a long story short, you don't have to worry much about your secondary if you take willpower; it is very passive. You can really focus on scrapping it out, which some players like and some don't.
  5. Some of the powersets you mention would be interesting to have on some ATs. For example, with their higher resistance limit and higher HP, I feel like regen would be almost to the point of overpowered on Brutes. Granted, regen is a %, but with a higher base, the same % = more healing.

    Conditioning

I think he was refering to the fact that you used 0 capitalization and 0 actual punctuation. There are obviously two sides to it:
    A. You had an outburst and resorted to name calling during friendly discussion.
    B. Darkmaster did not take kindly to your outburst and pointed out the flaws in it.

To make a long story short, your first post was very hostile, terribly written, and uncalled for, and Darkmaster responded in turn and called you out on it.

Your first post could have just as easily read:
I completely disagree. It seems like most of you are just used to your fully slotted 50s. I notice conditioning right from the start, and stamina makes it even better. Maybe your problem is that you haven't slotted for enough endurance reduction. I have no problems keeping my endurance up even with all of the bonus recharge SoAs get.

See...same meaning, yet it doesn't ignite the entire forum with hatred!
  7. I agree...One thing that currently bugs me and makes me want to stop playing my Archery blaster is the fact that there is no secondary that doesn't cause redraw. If I could have some form of TA or something that leaves my bow out, it would give me a much more seamless playing experience. It just seems so wonky to fire a few shots, watch my bow disappear as I energy punch, then have to redraw it!

    Leadership pool

I'm currently torn on my Claws/WP scrapper. I currently have him specced into:

    Flight
    -Hover
    -Fly

    Leadership
    -Assault
    -Maneuvers
    -Tacticts

    Fitness
    -Swift
    -Health
    -Stamina

I am torn for my final build...I would love to have 5 power pools because I want to get hasten, tough, and weave, so I don't know what I want to drop! Dang this game and its choices!
  9. As a young Brute myself (currently 18), I found that slotting 2 endurance DOs was much better than just a single one. Brutes need to go nonstop to do loads of damage, and this really eats away at the endurance!

If you are still looking for a fun Brute to build, try a DM/WP Brute. You will have quick animations and quick recharges as well as a spot heal through siphon life to assist your regeneration based WP set. At 18, I took Dark Consumption and love it, but I may respec out of it once I am able to take stamina and quick recovery.

It is self fulfilling prophecy. The idea that they have end issues has gotten out and now people expect to have end issues. And they do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And of course, now that the rumor has gotten out that the increased End cost is to pay for the increased damage FOR ALL DOMINATORS, that's exactly what people see. Never mind that Energy Doms are clearly doing much more damage than the other Secondaries, all they see is "I've got more damage, it must be because Doms got more damage".

    [/ QUOTE ]

exactly. I think there was still a lot more tweaking that should have happened to the assault sets, but were burried under the overwhelmong "/eng is awesome" landslide.

All well, everthing is still very playable. My perma's don't feel nerfed and leveling so far seems to be less of a drag.

IMO the changes don't really do much, but maybe that is a good thing. I was fearing the worst from Castle from his past work, so to escape relatively unscathed is actually a pretty big win for me and my doms.

I sincerly hope a LOT of people start playing and sticking with doms, I'd hate for so much time/energy to have been spent for no real purpose.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nevermind the Time/Energy, what about the Grav/Energy or Ice/Energy?!
  11. How do Archery/MM blasters work out later on? I am having a heck of a time with mine (Level 10) because the redraw kind of annoys me...Do you guys feel like it is worth the constant redraw, or does it bother you as wel?

    NEED HELP PLEASE

was it absolutely necessary to make post with a title in all caps and a post with all lowercase and no punctuation i mean come on it is hard to read when it is just run on after run on and you dont have any breaks in the information it is just spewed everywhere like someone just puked up a bunch of words and they landed on a page instead of taking the time to formulate their thoughts into sentences with even a semblance of grammar it is almost like you are in a hurry and really really want an answer and didnt have time to bother wiht anything even thought it would be hard for those trying to help you figure out what to do because they didnt know what you were trying to say but oh well i mean it isnt a huge deal but it would have been nice if you would take a little time to proofread what you say and make it so others can read your post but onto your answer you should really be contacting city of heroes billing or customer service because this is something related to your account that you may want to make them aware of so your issue can be resolved and an appropriate course of action can be taken just my thoughts so good luck and i hope you keep in mind that grammar is fun

    Claws/?

Although you mention that you don't want to just have a "Toggle and Go" powerset, there is definitely something to be said for the power of Willpower.

I currently run all secondary toggles and all leadership toggles as well as hover. I know there are probably better toggles to have up (Tough and Weave), but I am fairly new, and I really wanted to give leadership a try since it buffs the entire team. So far, I am having a blast hovering up to a group and just ripping them to shreds. One of my favorite combos is followup>other single targets until enemies get grouped>eviscerate>hover up and back a bit>Shockwave>fly back into the group to make sure Rise to the Challenge is at maximum.

This works very well as a soft form of mitigation. This strategy definitely works for regen as well, if not better. I could see shockwave being a life saver...Take a few hits, pop shockwave, knock everyone on their butts while you regen a few hundred hitpoints.

Sorry about the long post! Good luck with your scrapper!

Back in the old days we had endurance recovery and drain as separate enhancements. I wonder if the combined enhancements is the cause of the two lines.

[/ QUOTE ]... did you read my post?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty sure that that would be a big fat no...
  16. The problem, Metatron, of doing something like, "As your health drops, your chance to crit rises" is similar to why the scaling damage buff was removed from Blasters (Defiance 1.0).

This type of inherent basically penalizes those with amazing defenses, whether they are resistance, defense, regen, or a combination of them. It definitely provides some oomph in the form of, "Oh crap, I'm getting in over my head, here comes the big numbers!" but this is pretty self defeating. Either you sacrifice your defenses to up your damage or you focus on your defenses and forego the damage increase.

Cool in theory, not so cool in practice.

As others mentioned, I think the main issue with buffing scrapper's inherent is that scrappers are capable of some amazing things. Even though our crits aren't necessarily "awesome" compared to other ATs, I know that I still get excited every time I see one, especially on my eviscerate!
  17. Maybe I'm just a noob (Decent probability of this!), but wouldn't adding the performance shifter end mod enhancement to your stamina be a nice QoL improvement? Not that it is a huge thing, but it will give you a 5% buff to all of your movespeeds.
  18. Rieze, that is actually incorrect. Stalkers have a 10% chance to crit when playing solo. 3% is then added for every team member within 30 (?) yards.

This means that a stalker can cap out at 31% chance to crit if every member of the team is within 30 yards of you.

Honestly, after playing both a bit, I think the balance is fine. My stalker feels so much squishier than my scrapper. They also miss out on some very nice powers by having assassin's strike, build up, and hide no matter what power combination you choose. Personally, I enjoy follow up way more than build up, but that is just me.

But, as they say, the grass is always greener on the other side.
  19. I would suggest going with a scrapper.

Almost anything/WP will seem pretty powerful from the get-go. The only issues you'll run into are endurance until about 20 or so, then it is completely smooth sailing.

Claws/WP: My highest, at 41. This guy is awesome. 1 on 1, nothing can take me down (within reason). Focus has a fast enough cooldown that I can keep a boss on his butt the entire fight. For larger groups, I absolutely love Eviscerate followed by a little movement and shockwave.

DM/WP: If you give this one a try, you'll probably fly through the lower levels. Siphon life is a great attack, plus it provides a 10% heal (Unslotted).

Katana/Broadsword/WP: Once you get parry/divine avalanche at 8, you'll notice that melee attacks hardly ever hit you, which is awesome.

One last thing to keep in mind. You will not feel like a superhero from level 1. You will feel like a fledling hero who is just learning/growing stronger. Every new power will make you feel more powerful.
  20. I agree with most of the comments in this post.

In my opinion, I think it would be awesome if Ice and Fire had two sets each:

    Ice Melee - Ice Sword
    Fire Melee - Fire Sword

Making the sword sets act slightly more like the Katana/Broadsword sets would be awesome. I would definitely be all over a set that has an actual Fire or Ice sword as their drawn weapon.

On the other side, making the fire and ice melee sets more of a "I can manipulate fire/ice at close range" would be a blast as well. Add a fire/ice nova ability that basically sends a blast out in about 10 yard, etc.

    Duo Question

Thanks for all of the replies. I'll definitely have to look into building some of those!

    BS vs Katana

In the original days, Katana and Broadsword actually had attacks named the exact same thing, with the same animations, only faster/weaker on the Katana. These days, Katana looks a lot more flashy, while Broadsword is more of a brute force type attack.

As to powersets, a few things to keep in mind if it matters to you:

    1. Using skills from your secondary will force a weapon redraw. This means that powers like SR and WP will rarely have to redraw their weapons. Something like regen will have to more often to use their click abilities. It isn't a huge deal, but it annoys some (I'm one of the some).

    2. If you are new to scrappers, WP is a fun one to start with. It is essentially a fire and forget set. Almost everything is an auto power or toggle power. It doesn't resist as much as invul; it doesn't dodge as much as SR, and it doesn't regen as much as regen, but when you combine them all, it does a fine job. It is a great set for natural origins (If you have a theme).

I didn't answer all of your questions, but those are my views on a couple of them!

    Duo Question

    Hello everyone.

I got my brother to play CoH this weekend, and we are thinking of making some heroes together. He really wants to make a Kinetics/Ice Defender, so I was trying to decide on a powerset that would compliment that well.

Katana/Willpower seems fun and is what I am leaning towards at the moment.

Does anyone have any input on what they would choose given that opportunity?

    Thanks.
  24. I doubt you'd be able to find a combo as nice as your MM combo.

If you want something on follow, grab a Kinetics defender, toss the leadership toggles on him, speed boost yourself as necessary, and go to town.

Most classes have so much utility from clicks, that you'd be switching back and forth a lot.
  25. I'm a returning player (Semi new-never had a level 50), and I find Virtue to be a great player. I don't get into the roleplaying at all, but I like grouping with them because it isn't just an Architect farm!

I'd definitely recommend checking out Virtue. The few times that I rolled a villain, there seemed to be plenty of action.
